How do I post things in general really?

well... there are two little menu bars above your post text... one of them is a small picture icon, where you can post the URL of a photo. that's how you post them really. (I think there is a limit to size...?)

That is where the image icon is when you are on a desktop. It isn't on the mobile skin. You would need to do this.

Also if you click on the "Upload Files + More Reply Options" you should be able to upload images you have saved.
