Crusaders in high school?

I generally expect that the writer's just wanted a setting where every character we know from the show could be shoved into. Rather than make things difficult by having character's off all over the place, they put them all in the same school so it was easy to come  across them in the movies.

Probably the only reason they seem to be incredibly young compared to the rest of the students  :P

I was first confused on why they would be in high school as they seem to be way to young in the show, but then I realize they are freshmen. And in the show the cmc don't have their cutie marks and thus don't know where they want to be or what they are going to do in life and freshmen starting out in high school are a lot like that and unsure of where they are going in life. So it could be actually pretty clever thinking about that.

Well, look at my high school. I went to Sherman High School, but they also shared a building with the Sherman Junior High School as well. So while the students of the two didn't really intermingle, it wasn't uncommon to see junior high students in the high school area.

It might be the same case here.

Even if it is a mixed school it seems as though only the crusaders along with snips and snails are the only younger students in that school.

The only reason I can think of is that maybe CHS is also a middle school.  I honestly think the crusaders are about 11 or 12 at the oldest in which case they'd be in about 6th grade or so.  That would also explain why Diamond Tiara, Silver Spoon, Snips and Snails are all in that school as well.

what about Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon?

Have you noticed that human Cheerilee is older while the pony one is around the same age as the Mane6? Not to mention human Celestia and Luna, who are young women, while their pony counterparts, while probably the same age, they don't age much slowly

I'm pretty sure the implication was that they were freshmen, but yeah, that's still a bit of an age gap. I don't think it's a big deal though, I'm pretty sure the artists were trying to put in as many EQG versions of FiM characters as they could, and I think that's cool. It's interesting to see what they look like in the alternate universe.

I found it to be pretty strange as well. Don't have any children in the high school that I'm in  :okiedokielokie:. Might be different in other countries perhaps?  :o

My school was like that too, there was a High school part and a middle-school part, and were mostly separate from each other despite being connected. But things like the gym, library, and cafeteria were shared between the two, although middle schoolers never had lunch at the same time as High schoolers.

Putting On Pony Years

In Alternate Poniverse Canterlot High School World, everypony is in high school, even Granny Smith (though admittedly on the staff, rather than in the student body).

Meghan McCarthy wanted as many familiar characters as possible from the TV series to be in the movies, so the Cutie Mark Crusaders had to get some screen time.

Since it is an alternate reality with different rules from Equestria, the Pony Mane Six are presumably already past high school or its equivalent in Equestria, and humans and ponies age at different rates (at least in this world), it's not too much of a stretch to accept the CMC being freshmen at Canterlot High.

If we consider that here on Earth, ponies reach adulthood at about four years of age, and are already full-sized (though immature) at two years of age, putting the CMC within a few years of the Mane Six in the human world is actually surprisingly consistent.

Or not. You decide.

I was going to type something, but..... this kind of summed it up. I approve!

My thoughts on it was something like the CMC are the equivalent to the American combined schools, where you have middle schools and high schools combine. Either that or they're freshman in Canterlot high.

I used to go to a school like that, yeah. So I can imagine the CMC in Middle school or something, while everyone else was in the highschool. Or where I went to, the College was also across the street. So a mix a Middle, High, and College school kids were all kind of mingled.
