Honestly, they're all kind of cool in their own way, so I can't pick?

Earth ponies have something of the "everymare" or "underdog" effect, because they don't seem to have as cool or flashy powers. We humans don't either, so it makes them relatable and sympathetic - especially since we don't have to live together with more magically awesome races. And yet many earthponies are awesome too, in their own ways, and as a people they feed all of Equestria. It would have been nice if their tribal magic had been explored more instead of just hinted at, but subtle powers can still be important. And they seem to have some of the strongest famillial and communal bonds.

Pegasi tap into an age-old dream, soaring freely in the sky (well, except Scootaloo) and exerting control over the weather we mere mortals have to just put up with. Their world among the clouds is probably the most fantastical part of Equestria, a realm for only them in the way the other tribes don't have. As a one-time warrior society, they retain a mix of bold passion and a strong sense of duty, embodied in a tradition of public service. The boldest mavericks and the most steadfast officials of Equestria likely spring from this tribe, along with as many other kinds of pony as there are kinds of weather. And being the "middle" tribe and dwelling at something of a remove, they can be somewhat overlooked...

Unicorns' magic is very convenient - telekinesis would be so alone, but each unicorn also has access to magic based on their talent (even if we don't see this much) and that's before getting into great mages. But unicorns aren't just about magic - there's also art, fashion, music, scholarship and all other kinds of high culture. Not that all unicorns are rich or snobby, but although they walk on the ground like earthponies their heads are often lifted to the stars. I can see them as the origin of Equestria's greatest dreamers and visionaries, as well as it's most hidebound conservatives. 

Crystal ponies have been criminally overlooked - but on the other hand, this lets us form our own ideas around the little that we know. (I go for a society based heavily around empathic magic and positive emotions.) And of course, whatever culture they once had, there's also the "recent" tyrannical regime and thousand-year timeskip to add extra baggage.

Bat ponies... probably don't exist. But if they did, they'd be pretty cool - natural dreamwalkers, perhaps? Same for real seaponies (sorry, hippogriffs, but ripoffs don't count).

And last but certainly not least, alicorns. The living embodiments of the unity of the three tribes. Some prefer them to be rare and exclusive. Others see an all-alicorn Equestria as a goal to be aspired towards - although non-ponies tend to find that idea terrifying instead. They can spawn countless arguments, from their origins to their (im)mortality, but even if you don't like some of them, I think we can mainly agree the world of FIM is richer for having them.

When I was really new in the fandom, I was a big Pegasus fan (even all my OC/Sonas are pegasi and this still nowadays ... except for a short phase where I was into bat ponies). The mane reason was that my former favorite pony Fluttershy was a pegasus and I found them looking cool. But with the time, my interest changed from pegasi to Unicorns and they are still my favorite Pony race. Mainly because most of my nowadays favorites (mane 6 = Rarity, Supporting Pony = Starlight Glimmer, BG-Ponies = Minuette, Amethyst Star, Canterlot Boutique Unicorns, etc.) are Unicorns. And I was always a big fan of the magicians in fantasy and they are quasi the magicians of the show.

I've always loved their design ever since I saw them in the 2017 movie.

From the options here, I have selected unicorn. But I really like the kirin! They can also use magic, but also transform and use fire and they look unique and cute. I was always fascinated by magic and I wish I could use it as well.

For me Pegasus. I've always rather crazy for everything concerning aviation and then additional walking on clouds, making weather :> That's definitely the winner for me <3 Alicorns can fly too, but then I would make it rather easy, since they unite all the advantages of all the pony species.

I chose unicorn. The ability to use magic just seems interesting to me, as well as the possibilities of unicorn magic in MLP

Also, I kinda cheated by giving my OC the ability to spawn creatures made of magic, along with the ability to ride on them. So... I think I ended up negated flight and strength from that alone

My favorite pony species is the Unicorn because they can do and get things that are high up without needing to climb anything.

I know it looks like unicorns are my favorite given my avatar, but I actually prefer Earth ponies. They don’t need fancy magic or flying to be special since they have their own, almost hidden type of magic. It makes them mysterious in that way since Earth ponies are often underestimated. They are also easier to draw.

I like alicorns because their magic is stronger than unicorns, alicorns can fly better than pegasus and they are stronger than Earth ponies. The Alicorns are the strongest pony race so I like them.

I've always liked unicorns – while being able to fly would be amazing, there's so much more you can do with magic. And they're a bit more relatable than the extremely rare alicorns.

Pegasi, I've always been a major greek/roman mythology geek, so the overall aesthetics of the architectures, the fact that I've always perceived them as the most "heroic" of the ponies, and the fact they fly. It's tooooootally not because I love Rainbow Dash, and only because of that

I like pegasus, something about them is just so awesome to me. I think it has to do with the way they're often seen as "more animal" than the other ponies (within the fandom mostly), in the case of Rainbow Dash and people comparing her to a bird and stuff.

A good example of what I mean is the way Rainbow Dash acts in certain episodes, like The Crystal Empire. (sorry if it's unclear what I mean)

Alicorns, because of all the myths and legends surrounding them and how everyone sees them as some kind of deity (especially Celestia), I really like that
