Ticktock had the shock of his life to see Mai get shot in front on his eyes "Doc what did you do did you just kill her?" Ticktock didn't know how to feel he had a mixture of sadness ,anger and relief welling up inside him he then looked at Mai "How may I ask is this for the better" 

[Commander Tangent 861]

Icarus hovered over Mai like he would the dead in Stalliongrad. His dark mask not giving any signs of his face underneath. In Mai's body, the poison was taking effect as everything slowed down. He leaned over her and spoke.

 

"You made a deal with a devil..... and this is the reward.....rest easy Mai, eternal rest and peace await you" he said to her, before standing up and walking towards the edge of the ship, looking into the distance.

At this point Ticktock was fuming "Icarus do you know why she 'made a deal with the devil' as you put it because by the sound of it she had Mai's family. So ask yourself this would you do the same in her situation because I know I would" Ticktock then turns to Mai (his eyes filled with tears) "Mai I promise you that if your family is still alive I will save them. I swear on my life I shall do so. Now rest easy"

Tyra lowered her head, sorrowful that Mai had to leave in such a way.

She gently put a hoof to her head. "May you reunite with your family in the above."

 

She stood up and looked to the others. With the airship gone, they were finished here.

"We must return to the outpost. We have done everything we can here."

Blizzard was ready to get moving, "Axe girl's right, we gotta get moving! Does anypony see any sorta way outta here that's safe? I don't wanna end up being shot out of an elevator again, so start looking for a way out guys." Blizzard then beings to sneak around looking for an exit.

Ticktock had now become surprisingly depressed "Oh what's the point all that ever seems to happen is ponies die when we get involved. We should just stay here besides according to fizzy we will burn on the twentieth day so we're probably safe here anyway" His face then turned to anger "And even if we wanted to escape the only pony that could have told us how to is dead *looks at Icarus* Because of somepony"

Blizzard walks over to Ticktock and shakes him, "Look at me soldier!  Blaming each other is gonna get us nowhere! Alright stay focused stay alive no matter what! That's an order! Sorry about that, but you gotta do better than that Ticky.   Now make yourself useful and help find a way outta here."

Icarus looked a Tick Tock. " What about the ponies that died in that attack, at her order ? they had families too and she disreguarded that. I did it as humane as possible. And we can escape." He looked over at Tictock, " As I said, no winners or losers here, only tragedy. Now let us get off this thing" He said, bowing in respect to mai before looking for an escape .

Ticktock looked at Blizzard "For goodness sake get off me you crazy I said I'm not moving an I'm a stallion of my word. The only way you will ever get me to leave this spot is if you knock me out and drag me out" Ticktock then just sat down with Mai's body with his hooves crossed.

Tyra glanced on at the situation, watching as Blizzard shook up Nexus to snap out of his funk and Icarus said to remember what they were fighting for.

 

He snapped that he'd have to be knocked out and dragged out of here if he was going to leave.

 

Showing no reaction, she walked over and socked him square across the face, knocking him unconscious, and perked him onto her back.

"Problem solved, let's go!" She grinned.

Blizzard laughed and said, "Thanks Tyra, that Rookie was driving me crazy with his lack of focus. Come on! I think I see a way out!" Blizzard then walks over to a hole in the ship, "Looks like we're gonna have to jump. Anypony for a dip? Ok who's on first to jump out?"

[Commander Tangent 861]

"Well....cant say I didnt see that coming" ICarus said, looking around, and then under the boat, " Does everyone know how to swim ? We cann dive into the water below !" ICarus said to everyone, looking over the edge. He hoped Tyra would be able to get Tick Tock to shore, if they did.

Blizzard broke away from 'serious leader to his normal self, "I'll see you all down below! Dynamic exit!" Blizzard jumps down and takes a diving position into the water, but he was to weak to swim, so he made some ice platforms along the water to walk on and says, "Come on down guys! Water's great! I'd give myself an 8.2 on that performance."

Tyra glanced over the edge, spotting the shore not too far away. She positioned Ticktock's hooves, still crossed, around her neck to keep him steady.

 

"In that case, we move onward!" She yelled, hopping off the edge and into the water below with a splash. Thankfully, Ticktock managed to stay on her back. She began a brisk swim toward the shoreline with Blizzard walking alongside.

Blizzard notices Tyra splash and says, "Not bad axe girl, your entry was good, but your positioning in the air was a little off, I'd give that performance uhh,...... 7.9 out of 10." Blizzard says as he laughs and points to shore, "Hey look we're getting closer. Is Rookie ok?"

Icarus jumped into the water right behind everyone. The impact caused his cape to float out, looking almost like bat wings for a few seconds untill he got up and walked out of the water. He shook himself to get rid of most of the water, and poured out his mask. Looking around, he made sure to count the heads of everyone, to be sure they all made it.

Blizzard walks off his ice and onto shore, "Ah! That was a good one Doc, but your air style wasn't the best. Howeve, your entry in the water was good. 8.1" He saw Caliber jump out and plop into the water, "That was...ok. 6.9" Blizzard then says, "Ok I'm gonna say straight up that being leader is tiring, and I can't be myself if I'm leader. I like being silly sometimes and I can't do that if I'm leader. Does anypony else wanna lead?"

Tyra emerged onto the beach and walked onto the sand, bucking Ticktock off her back and slapping him awake again.

 

"That was an impressive dive," she grinned toward Icarus, "like some kind of bat-like superpony!"

 

She glanced over to Blizzard, who asked if anypony else wanted to lead. "Who do you suppose should take over then?"

Blizzard replies to Tyra, "Well axe girl, you seemed to be a good leader for us when Raid was out. I know you might not have much experience as a leader, but you did great last time. Trust me, I wouldn't say that if it wasn't true. Plus: Caliber and I are too silly for the job-- *he trots and walks into a tree* ow dammit! See? I'd feel more comfortable taking orders from you than anypony else. Tick isn't all that focused most of the time so he can't very well lead us, and the Doc...doesn't communicate like you do. So whaddya say axe girl? *big eyes* Please?  "

Ticktock woke up in a bad mood "You punched me and then you buck me and slap me wow im really feeling the friendship Tyra however I still stand by what I said in the Atherblades lair and I am not moving from this spot no matter what. Understood?"

Tyra listened as Blizzard explained why she'd be the best leader, tilting her head as he walked into a tree.

 

However, his kind words filled her with pride, and she puffed out her chest with a wide smirk.

 

It quickly diminished when Ticktock raged at her for being so rough before.

"Well, it was you who said you'd need to be knocked out to be taken out of that place," she muttered, glancing aside, "so I obliged."

Blizzard saw Caliber swimming in the water and shouts, "Take your time Caliber, we're voting on the new leader!" Blizzard turns to Ticktock and opens his mouth to speak, but then he walks to Tyra and whispers, "Psst see what I mean? No offense to the guy, but he's not the best leader." Then he speaks out loud, "Well while we're waiting, might as well build a sandcastle! " Blizzard then sits in the sand and tries to make a castle.

"If I may.... I know not many of you trust me fully...or even know my past. But, if we are choosing a leader, I for one would like to offer myself. I have been through many situations were I have had to lead a group. Through the cold winters of Stalliongrad to the long blazing summers of the Dragon plains, I have lead small groups into many victories. " Icarus explained, taking off his mask and showing his scarred face, " I have seen much, and done much in my life time. And with that knowledge, I can assure you, that I would lead us on the path to saving this land. And perhaps before I part, share some of my secrets" Icarus said, looking from pony to pony. He then looked to Tyra " Though if you wish to become leader, I will respect it. But I am offering myself as well" he said.

caliber floated around in the water, thinking. she thought almost too much like him. there were no winners, only those who were left. but shes dead now, icarus had taken care of that. he heard his team talking about a new leader, and he wondered if he himself should try. he did know how to think logically, strategically, and so on, but wheres the fun in that? he smiled. "im good with anypony leading!" he said, as he dived into the water, looking for nothing.

Tyra listened to Icarus as he pitched his offer to become the leader of the group. She watched as he removed his mask, remembering the scars.

The face of a warrior, she had called it.

 

Not to mention he has experience as a leader, like Radiant had. She was not used to leading, always travelling around with one or two ponies at her side as equals. But this was a team, and the way she had learned it, teams needed a leader.

 

"Aye, you make a fair point," she agreed with the doctor, "you sound the most experienced in leading a team, so I would know nopony better to lead us than yourself."
