Chrysteel shook her head. "His heart hurts. I will not let him be alone. I will go with him."

Chrysteel heads out to gather her things. 'Your heart felt pain. My purpose is to tend to the heart. I will help you weather you want me to or not.'

After Chrysteel has gathered some needed items, She takes to the sky, following after him.

(Alright, DM, tell us what we see! We don't know what's behind these doors, but you do, so lead the way! :D)

"I'm not sure how comfortable I am with flying yet," Amber said hesitantly. She flapped her wings weakly, hovering above the ground for a few seconds before they gave in. She smiled sheepishly at the other two, face colouring slightly.

"Sorry," she said.

"Don't worry, Amber!" Midnight cheered, easily flapping her wings and lifting off the ground. She had experience with flying, "See? Easy as pie! Or cake? Which is easier?!" Midnight softly landed, "I could teach you, if you want." She smiled from ear to ear, Midnight was having fun.

Starchase took lead. He didn't really know where he was going except towards an exit. The hallways were all dull and grey, rather drab. "I like cake and pie but I'd think baking a cake is easier." He extended his wings and gave them flap, but figured he shouldn't try, incase they found out he had no idea how to fly. One would think he'd bother to learn.

Chrysteel continues on looking for Arcing Storm. She knew he was better at flying then she was. She started to use conserved teleports to speed up. She sensed for the love energy trail he left in his wake. Oance she locates the trail, She begins to follow it. 'Storm, why did you leave? I wanted to get to know you better.'

I wished I remembered where exactly we had left off, but I didn't. "Uh, since I can't recall where we left off starting anew seems logical. I'm sure you feel it too, but I feel as if something has been messing with my mind since I woke up and trashed the bedroom accidentally." I grinned at the mention of breakfast. I'd eaten a lot too, but not as much as he did. I wondered where he put all of that away.

"Oh this is Sparky." Sparky beeped in greeting. "Sparky this is Caliber the swordpony. Sparky's my companion and assistant. Don't call him a pet though. He's sensitive about that. He can't talk but he usually gets his point across, and when he doesn't I can translate through our link." I looked around for a guard as we moved out into the hall. They seemed to be everywhere. I wondered if this school was run by Celestia or Luna.

"Hey you, is there a place the two of us can have a friendly duel? No killing, no flying, no spells, just swords." I asked a nearby Pegasus guard.

"Right this way. I'll direct you." He answered cheerfully as he led us through about five halls and past other rooms. I could swear this place all looked the same. I could totally get lost if it wasn't for these guys.

We got to the arena and he went off to do whatever guards do while I took my place.

"So, feel like making the first move? This place is spacious enough and being stone it won't catch fire from sword sparks. We could also trade life stories if you feel like it. I for one am interested in yours if you don't mind." I said as Sparky moved to watch us from outside the barrier.

caliber followed her, and when she asked about his life, he grinned. "well, now, its a long story." he said, "how about we talk while fighting?" he made the first move, lunging in to deal a strike to the side, swinging his sword in a wide arc. and he started talking. a pony coulda sworn he was just doing nothing, his voice didnt change despite the fact he was fighting.

"well, i started traveling when i was twelve. iv had my sword around the same time, too. i got it from a dragon, if ya can believe it..." he started.

Amber smiled at Midnight as she flapped her wings excitedly.

"I would love for you to teach me," she said with a smile. As the three of them walked into the hall, Amber folded in her wings.

"Maybe later, though," she added distractedly. She was staring down the hall.

This place seems normal enough... If not a bit empty, she thought, trying to piece together the source of her strange feeling. The sound of her hooves echoed eerily across the hall, punctuated by a deathly silence. Amber narrowed her eyes.

"Moving on, then," she said.

Starchase took them through another left turn and pushed the door open and accidentally ripped it out with his magic, scaring the guard behind the door. The wind blew his mane back to a sort of wind swept mess. He held the door open for the mares as he tries to shake his mane back into place. "Tada! I didn't get us lost!" He was feeling rather proud of it.

Amber chuckled as Starchase held the unhinged door out for her.

"That was the most violent chivalrous act I've ever seen," she told him, still laughing. She stepped through the empty doorframe.

"I accidentally shot Caliber's sword into the ceiling earlier--this Alicorn magic is very strong." she noted, grinning at the other two. Once she had entered, Amber noticed the startled guard, and something clicked in her mind.

"Excuse me, sorry to startle you," she said politely, approaching the nervous guard with a smile. Then, in a rather abrupt manner, she asked,

"Why have you guards been stationed here? Is there something you're guarding in this school?" The fact that they were in a school had nearly slipped Amber's mind, which worried her further. She looked into the guard's eyes unblinkingly, and something about the way she stood (with her wings not-quite tucked in and one hoof forward) told him that her politeness wouldn't last if she didn't get answers.

Midnight flittered over to the guard, "Yeah, school's hold children, but they don't hold princesses, you know." She raised her left brow, softly landing her hooves to the ground. "Maybe you're in the wrong place...did you make a wrong turn and accidentally end up in a school?"

The guard sweating in his collar bowed down to them, rattling in his armour. "Your highnesses, I was only following orders. Due to recent events, we were all shifted to this facility that shall become our new headquarters, the school has cut down to only the specials and moved to the other block." He was being as honest as he could. But if he spilled all the bean, he'd still get his head served.

Amber mentally noted the guard's nervousness and his comment about "the specials", but put these on the backburner for the time being. She decided to start from the beginning.

"Who's orders? she asked quietly, a crucible of energy burning behind her calm facade. She fluffed her wings ever so slightly.

"And you don't need to call me that," she added, "Just 'Amber' is fine." She allowed herself to smile comfortingly at him. Even if the guards were hiding things from them, they were still probably good ponies, and she didn't want to scare them too much.

Amber paused and tried to remember why Celestia had sent them all here in the first place while the guard seemed to search his mind desperately for an answer.

"That is the idea, of course. I did mean to talk while sparring." I conjured my pair of katanas and scissored his sword between them, blocking the attack. The force of the floating swords between us made sparks drop to the ground. This would be interesting.

"How about we go further than that? What city are you from originally? I'm from Manehattan. We can get back to the details of your sword when we get to that." I jumped back and let the swords come apart and his to move where I wasn't anymore. I threw one at him as a projectile while holding the other ready to block attacks.

caliber carefully, but quickly, deflected her sword away. "well, im from fillydelphia!" he said, as he tried for a different style. fencing. using quick, rapid thrusts, he continued. "and as you know, i decided to leave when i was about twelve. i know, thats a young age to break away from my parents, but hey. i was brought up with no form of entertainment except fairy tails. i guess thats why i decided. and, there was also the fact my house burned down..."

"Orders from above, your-Amber." He said her name as if it was something foreign and exotic rolling off his tongue. "The Elements were said to have been bought in to prepare for any attack from the enemy, and perhaps launch one when the time is right. You were said to have been brought in for your strategic expertise, Amber."

Amber raised an eyebrow. strategic expertise?

Concealing her confusion, she tried to maintain her pressure.

"What were these 'recent events' that brought you here? And who is this 'enemy' you're preparing for?" Her eyes glinted in the torchlight, as though she was prepared to offer an ultimatum.

Amber's eagerness and apparent ignorance of recent events surprised the soldier. These ponies were suppose to be their superior. His hope in them wilted a little.

"We have a fragile peace between us and the Sombran Empire to the north." He said slowly as if to a particularly slow filly. "It has been going on since King Sombra ascended to the throne. We want to be prepared in the event of an attack. And we would like to launch the first strike if negotiations to renew our treaty fail."

"Well their time's up!" The yellow mare tapped her hoof impatiently on the tarmac as the three looked out to the skies for any sign of Arcing Storm and Chrysteel.

"We've gotta haul their flanks back, don't we, Cap?" Spitfire nodded and the three took flight in formation. "They're in a ton of trouble."

Arcing Storm
@@Midnight_Aurora

Storm felt that someone was following him and turned around. "Chrysteel? Crabapples." He groaned and waited for her to catch up. "What, how, and why the hay are you here? Did the guard tell you?" Storm was clearly furious, but she could also sense his wary at the same time. Storm looked behind her and spotted three pegasi heading in their way. They were far away and would probably have not notice them yet so he grabbed her and went into a cloud to hide themselves.

Sensing the three she let him pull her into a cloud. She whispers to him, "I followed your heart's energy trail. You have strong emotions hiding in your heart. Please let me help you. I don't feel to well though. It feels as if I have detected your heart before." She holds close to him hiding her presence and emotions.

Amber took a step back, eyes widening for a brief second. She tried to compose herself.

"Yes, of course. I understand," she said, in a voice that was rather more tight and distant than normal. She nodded to the guard blankly, then stepped away from him, out of earshot.

"Did you...did you hear that?" she said breathlessly to Starchase, trying to conceal her panic for Midnight's sake but not doing a terribly good job of it.

"He said the Sombran Empire" she hissed, panic rising in her voice. "That empire dissolved more than a thousand years ago! that's...we're...we're in the past." Amber stepped out of the empty doorframe and slumped onto the wall on the opposite end, utterly exhausted.

"We're in the past," she repeated to herself, as though trying to make sense of the words.

"How is this possible?" She tapped at her element absent-mindedly as her thoughts did backflips.

"The past? Amber, last I checked, your element wasn't time." He joked tensed and in a controlled manner. "And we mustn't say things like that." He smiled nervously. Oh Celestia, what next, they break the only fragile peace Equestria has ever known in this decade?!

"I think Amber might be right..." Midnight shivered in fear, "The Sombran Empire was a dark and gloomy place, lost in time. If the Sombran Empire is back, that means time is going back too." She had read about this empire in her studies, it was a very scary thought.

"Your royal highnesses, I suggest you both surrender yourselves to us before we find you!" The cloudy sky was obstructing their line of sight. The fluffy cumulus clouds would be a cinch to clear. As the three began bucking the clouds at top speed, it would be a matter of time before they would be found.
