Overrated restaurants, cafes, stores, etc?

~Sugar Sprinkles~

Recommended Posts

Is there any type of restaurants, cafes, stores, or any other certain places that are very overrated to you? If so, why? You can name multiple.

-Starbucks: I am sorry, but I never liked anything from them. I never liked their coffees, mochas, lattes, etc. Only thing I approved was their sweets. I've had much better coffee from other cafes or just plain making it yourself. I know all these girls and even guys who are obsessed with it they crave the hell out of the place. Plus, they're very pricey.

-American Eagle stores (I hope this is in other states too): Basically, I do not like their style of clothes. They seem to bland and just not appealing to me. As well, they are pricey. I have walked into there a couple of times shopping with friends, my Grandma, and mother and they go through the place being like "Oh this is cute" and I'm just like "Meh..".

-Taco bell: I have had better tacos. Yes, I am aware it is a fast food place and not a 5 star restaurant but I know all these people who talk about it, crave it, always want to go there, etc. Don't get me wrong, some of their things are okay, but nothing I want to go like every day.

Starbucks: go in with fifty pounds, you MIGHT get a coffee

KFC: I'll still go there if it's the closest thing, but I definitely wouldn't have it as a first choice

Honestly, I thought I would be the only one saying Starbucks in overrated. I guess I got proven wrong.

Starbucks: Just why? Why do people like this place? It's overpriced and the coffee isn't even worth the coin you pay to buy it. I've heard their pastries are satisfactory but other than that I really cannot see that place as a everyday place to go to.

McDonalds: I can hear everyone readying to write their hate notes to me. But seriously though, how the food is made is the big reason why I stopped going there. It's just plain unhealthy and the salads are no better with the pesticides in the lettuce. Burger King can go circles around McDonalds any day. In fact, most other fast food chains can.

Popeye's: This place is second place to McDonalds in being just plain horrible. I don't care what people say about this place, it's disgusting. Practically everything is cajin or spicy. Just because it's suppose to be Louisiana cooking is no excuse to make everything spicy. I'd rather have KFC's chicken over Popeyes any day.

Hot Topic: I just don't like the new trends in there now-a-days. Don't get me wrong, I loved the old Hot Topic. It's just that now it's all about Disney or Justin Bieber. Sure, they sell rock/metal stuff in there and ponies stuff but it's just not the same. At least the Hot Topic at the mall I go to plays decent music once in a while.

McDonalds!!!!!!!- I have a huge McHate for them!

Subway - It's a sandwich shop, possible even a fancy deli, also never been.

Starbucks - Never been but it's just coffee. I also don't like coffee.

Any type of mainstream or luxury clothing brand - Why?! most of everything they sell is average with really fat price tags. Oh wow! a pair of pants for 250$ then you go to a store and find it like 70$ then another lower price store for 20$ then junk stores for like 3$.

Pass that umm there isn't to many stores I can complain about since there isn't really many stores where I live :(

Bestest store - some kind of Dollar General where i pick up MLP coloring books.

While I don't see overrated as bad, there are a couple places I find that are way too hyped for their own good.

Starbucks: The only reason I would have it is for the bakery, and even then it's expensive. Another problem is that the hot chocolate is hit or miss. Once, I had hot chocolate that almost scalded a part of my lip!

Subway: I prefer Goodcents and McAlister's over it because they have a better variety of food.

Taco Bell: I don't know, I have always had bad luck with this place. I just seem to almost always get sick from here, no matter what I have there.

TGI Friday's. I mean, sure they got a nice little bourbon sauce. The burgers are messy and the desert menu might as well come from Burger King.

You probably don't want to know what their kitchen looks like then. :sunny:

Just curious but has anyone had any good luck with Taco Bell? I only eat from one that is like 200 miles away because they have larger tacoes for some reason.

The one taco bell around here has been shut down a couple times for pretty bad health hazards.

Remember another one Microsoft / Xbox

EA, Activation and a slew of other big gaming companies but that's more hate and not enough hype. But maybe they do belong here because they have enoumous hype machines. Not sure....

Well I think it depends on the area and who's running it, as I never had a problem with Taco Bell.

Hahah looks like a LOT of people dislike Starbucks. I know, its such a BIG hype. I like coffee and all, but its super expensive and I can make better coffee at home. My Grandpa brews really fresh pots of it and i'm like "1,000 times better than Star bucks". Yeah their pastries are pretty good. I've had their muffins, cakepops and cookies, but.....thats about it. Other than that, i've had better.

Yeah Hot Topic sells a lot of dumb shit. Only thing I get there is ponies, some Disney stuff, anime stuff, video game stuff and they do have some cute normal clothing that isn't a trend. We also have this place here called Spender's that sells stuff like Hot Topic, with its hot trends, jewelry, etc and as well as.....sex toys. Hahaha. Its kinda overrated.

Yeah, I agree with you and Spender's? I think you mean Spencer's.

I love Spencers. It has more variety than Hot Topic and they are not afraid to put out scary and gory stuff for Halloween. The back section being the infamous sex toy section. I have respect that Spencer's still does things the way they always have and will not change for anyone.  B)

- Starbucks: There are better places to but a coffee and pastry around here.

- Chipotle: Lots of people around me like it but I never grew to like it.

- Taco Bell: Doritos flavored tacos or other wacky things put into Mexican foods? Really? I'm not buying that hype.

- P.F. Changs: Even my parents agree with me that their food isn't that good.

- Krispy Kreme: Local donuts in my area are better. Also, Krispy Kreme donuts are too sweet for me.

- McDonald's: That place makes me puke nowadays.

Bob Evans:  I've had richer food at many fast-food joints than there.  Granted, I've only gone there two or three times there in my life, but the food has never been that memorable.  And their grilled sandwiches seem to be just as greasy as their crispy-- not exactly the best thing if you choose grilled because you're health-conscious.

Chipotle:  I used to like this place but I've come to like Qdoba better.  The burritos at the former are considerably blander than that at the latter, not to mention that they don't have that wonderful queso.

Panera/Saint Louis Bread: Their bagels tend to be harder than most.  And the stuff there's quite overpriced anyway too, and I think that their overall quality is starting to decline.  (Einstein Bros. Bagels, by contrast, is a very underrated restaurant.)

McDonald's:  Yes, I know, everypony hates McDonalds.  Well, I don't even dislike it, but it's definitely becoming the butt of even fast-food restaurants for good reason-- even I agree they don't quite do meat right (but spare the fries, they're gold).  And it's pretty much agreed that their efforts to change their image have been half-hearted at best.  Then again, they're the ones with the pony toys... :)

Midway through Season 4 they really cut back on their pony selection, and it's never been the same since--I'll have to agree.

I quite like Taco Bell for what it is.  I might get a bad case of diarrhea occasionally (and only once in the past couple of years) but most of the time I've been pleased and healthy.

Dunkin Donuts: I don't find them that good. I find their donuts average at best. I personally prefer Krispy Kreme for donuts, which sadly closed in my area.  :(

Starbucks: Never was a fan of coffee. Next.

I don't hate McDonalds, but I find Burger King miles better than it. Also, McDonalds has a tendency to screw up my order. Sure, Burger King does that sometimes, but not as much.

New York in Company/Holister/Victoria's Secret: I get very bored when I go in here. They only have clothes marked to one demographic. I can't hate it completely for that, but that doesn't stop me from groaning whenever my mom takes me into one of these places.

Walmart: The environment here is too rushy and crowded. I prefer Target.

I went to Hooters recently because everyone said the wings there were really good. They were terrible in fact most of the food was terrible. You only go there to look at girls and the food is only palatable if you are drunk. Kinda like TGI Fridays and Applebees.

I only like the Shaken Iced Teas from Starbucks. Other than that i don't really see what the big deal is. Coffee is Coffee to me, and the sandwiches and stuff are bland and terrible.

There's only one Sandwich i like from Panera Bread. I don't really get the appeal of the place. Its a nice cafe but all of the food is something you could make at home. I think its unique but i don't understand why people are so crazy about it.

I guess this is mostly for girls but I don't much care fore Forever 21. All of the clothes there are only for one body type.

All of the hip&trendy clothing stores like Ambercrombie&Fitch, Hollister, etc.

Also fuck the Nintendo World Store and its New York exclusivity bullshit and when Nintendo makes shit exclusive to that store. Seriously it drives me up a wall when Nintendo makes things exclusive to that store

Was never a fan of Chipotle, Taco Bell, Del Taco. When you have parents who make real Mexican food, it's hard to stomach this crap

Well with Taco Bell, it's commonly known to be Americanized Mexican that is owned by a British guy. Taco Bells food is something that you either like or you don't. I'm not going to fault you however for not wanting to be part of the hype. I personally don't mind the Doritos Locos Tacos, but I'm not going to say they are the best thing ever either.

I don't blame you one bit for feeling like that. I really don't go there anymore after I learned the dirty secret behind how they make everything there. It's all going to kill you. If you eat it a lot, you can and will die from eating it. I strictly only go to McDonalds for their coffee if I really have no other options in places to have that else where.

I personally love Bob Evans. I mean sure, not everything is great there, but they are a step above some other restaurants in quality. I really love their amazing dinner rolls. They are so soft and fluffy, not to mention that they are about the only dinner rolls they taste SO good with butter that just melts into it because of how hot they come out when served. King Hawaiian dinner rolls being the only other one's I enjoy a lot if I could choose something better than Bob Evan's dinner rolls. I also like that they at least have a 60+ area for seniors specifically. I know it's kinda weird to hear a 26 year old say that, but on logical level it makes sense to have that on a menu, especially if it's a restaurant to take a family to.

Yeah, I've also noticed the decline in pony products on the shelves at Hot Topic. It's mostly on the online store now.

Yeah, Taco Bell has never been bad for me either. Having a major butt disaster, to put it lightly, is par for the course with their food. It's entirely worth it though. Especially when they are the only place in your town to have Mountain Dew Baja Blast.  :okiedokielokie:

Chick-Fil-A - It's bad enough that I hugely disagree with their views, but none of their food is all that good. Their sandwiches tend to be not that much better than what I can make a home or eat at any other chicken restaurant, and their waffle fries taste rather bland to me.

Starbucks - I like it, but I have "The Human Bean" in my area and I think it's much better.

Burger King - Their burgers are decent, but otherwise, I much prefer Wendy's or In-and-Out Burger as a whole. Similar said to McDonald's.

Also, while this is hated on the internet, I'll still say it since it's pretty much the biggest game store chain - Gamestop - I'll just say, go in with an incredibly rare game, and tell me how much they give you after you trade it in. Exactly.

McDonald's.  I like their fries, but that's about it.  I make better burgers at home.

Starbucks.  I make better coffee at home...  And it costs a hell of a lot less.

KFC.  It's not bad or anything, but I prefer their biscuits to their chicken.  I don't know what's going on with the mac n' cheese.  I make better mac n' chee- you get the idea.

Red Lobster.  Whaaaaaaat!?  It was okay, but I enjoyed this rice side I selected more than the fish.  And I wasn't impressed with their lobster.  You know: Their namesake. xD  (I prefer crab, anyhow.  Crab is great.)

Spencer's.  That was the store to check out when I was, oh, 18 years younger lol. xD  Want a pentagram?  Spencer's has it.  Want a pentagram with a skull on it?  Spencer's has it.  Want a pair of edible underwear with a pentagram with a skull on it?  Spencer's has it.  Spencer's tries too damn hard.

Oops my bad, did not mean to misspell Spencer's haha. Yeah its a pretty cool place, I would not say its as overrated as Hot Topic, but I still go there from time to time. They do have some cool stuff.

McDonald's: The burgers are bad and too expensive where I live.

Starbucks: I like its coffee, but there are better and not as expensive places.

Dunkin' Donuts: Not bad, but again, too expensive and there are better alternatives.

Subway - It's a sandwich shop, possible even a fancy deli, also never been.

I have to disagree. It's not the best thing ever, but the sandwiches are pretty good and not too expensive. That's where I have lunch when I don't have much time.

I agree with this. Subway is fairly decent when it comes to subs, but I know on place that out shines it. Jimmy Johns.

There are these (local?) 'breakfast' restaurants that my family likes like Egberts and Jimmy's Egg. They're both pretty much exactly the same thing, and their food really isn't all of that great. I especially do not like their style of fries, which is mostly what I eat when I go to a place like that.

I also do not like Chick-Fil-A. Obviously, it's by default a pretty terrible place that I would never go to not only because of its views on same-sex marriage but also because of where they donated money to (organizations - in other countries - which were for making homosexuality punishable by death), but the one time I did eat there (long before all of this came to light) their food wasn't any good. The waffle fries were just soggy. Sooo not a good place in any way, shape or form.

I used to think Olive Garden was overrated. That was until I tasted one of their breadsticks... lol.
