I know that MLP/bronies is a meme

and chances are, if you search something,

anything, even a door, you will find a

picture of a pony next to it on google

images.

But then theres real life. For instance,

I used to go to high school, everyone knew

what star wars and harry potter was, but

NO ONE knew what a brony was (or most

stuff on the internet for that matter). Also,

I pass by poor streets and while I dont

see MLP merch, I see Frozen stuff being

sold instead.

Frozen is so mainstream that merch is being

sold in poor neighborhoods. MLP not so much

at least not in LA. It just makes me think, how

mainstream is the show and fandom?

A lot of famous people like this show (ex. DeadMau5, AndrewWK, skrillex, etc.)

But it can't get so mainstream because of the "black sheep" in this fandom

But Society still fears this fandom because of that and it's kinda not so "family friendly"

If you mean mainstream like Game of Thrones or Supernatural or Harry Potter than we are not mainstream at all. We do have a big presence on the internet but that is about it.

Still, we aren't exactly that small either.

Well, we're pretty huge on the Internet, but I wouldn't say we're "mainstream".... (At least, not yet. >:D   )

People are still too afraid of us, the poor fools... >.>

I place the Brony fandom in the "4Chan/Meme" bracket. This means that everyone who frequents the internet beyond Facebook will hear of it, but the mainstream population is still unfamiliar with it.

Well, we're atleast famous enough, to be acknowledged by the mainstream media.

I remember back in 2012, one time when i turned on the TV during a morning show, that they actually made a report on the Galacon, which is the biggest brony convention in Germany. They do this every year and it's always positive.

So, i guess we are kind of big. Not like some of the other fandoms, but none then less.

I always thought the fandom was moderately mainstream as in there are enough fans to bring it up to that level but the overall exposure is limited as some have brought up. Also, some have negative opinions of the show and its fans which may be a part of limiting its mainstream popularity.

It's more mainstream on the internet than in real life. I'm not sure how this is the case though. But at least there are some things going on in the brony fandom in real life like conventions and even appearing at some other conventions.

It's not at all mainstream at my school, nor no I have any knowledge of bronies in my whole village...

In the town there aren't any shops which sell anything pony related (although in an ASDA I did see an MLP advent calendar), and I like the fandom the way it is. On the internet it's more mainstream, but to be honest, probably the most mainstream thing I like is My Little Pony  ^_^

I think it'll take some time before My Little Pony and its fandom will get to the public eye in the same way Star Trek, Star Wars, superhero comics or something like Dr. Who have gotten. For example in its beginning the Star Trek fandom was quite small and the original series was cancelled due to low ratings, but nowadays it's almost like common knowledge.

Ultimately it all depends on how Hasbro hadles the franchise. Will there be a completely new generation again, or will they aim for more continuity like they do with Transformers and keep building on the current universe? The latter would help to keep the current fanbase.

I wish EVERYONE were bronies

Oh God I don't.

Would be horrifying : P

Also to answer the question not really. Its well known on the internet, but even then its not really accepted. Lot of piss taking still ,guess I can understand why tho.

@MLG4ever

Skrillex and deadmau5 aren't. Pretty sure deadmau5 was just getting a reaction. Never heard anything about skrillex being one. But psh

We're only mainstream in the fact that most have probably heard of us weirdos in passing at some point. Otherwise, nope. Maybe that changes a bit with the movie in 2017, but who knows.

Here in southern Ontario, you can find MLP merchandise in pretty much any store with a "girl's" aisle, usually Toys 'R' Us, Chapters, Walmart, Target, etc. I'm not really an expert on low-income districts, but I'm sure it's there too. As for the Brony fandom, most everyone here has heard of them. We're often the butt of jokes, but I've never been personally attacked. I'm pretty sure no one actually cares in my town.

outside of the internet i don't think My Little Pony is really well known because when i actually get off of my Flank to face the outside world and look for merchandise i can only seem to find little bits at Hot Topic and Target. Other than that i havent met anypony or seen anypony else who knows or wears the merchandise like i do. i think its kinda for the best though because the internet always turns its venomous fangs on any fan of the show outside of dedicated circles from what i've seen. this world isn't ready to play nice. probably won't for the next four thousand years.
