RP THREAD

Recently, an organization called Skylit Software has made video games a huge hit in Equestria. Their new genre, VRMMORPGs, or Virtual Reality Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Games is especially popular. In this genre, Skylit Software can use a special tome to make it seem like the player is literally in the game, making it twice as more realistic and a dozen times more thrilling than if you played a simple console or PC. 
 
With this new revolutionary technology, it makes sense that the planet would be completely hyped about the new VRMMORPG Skylit Software is developing. Known as Equestria Online (Not exactly the most creative name), it promises unlimited skills, limitless quests, bigger dungeons, heaps of loot and a drop-dead spectacular final boss battle, according to the beta testers. 
 
Things go wrong on the day of launch, however. A few hours in, the ponies who were once enjoying the thrills that Equestria Online had to offer realized that they can't log out. A robed figure appeared and explained that until they complete an unknown objective, they're stuck in this game that seems to be as big as a planet. And until then, if the ponies die while in Equestria Online, they're dead, forever. 
 
You, the players, are part of a guild that is working to free themselves from the chains that Skylit Software has put on them, and break free into the real world, along the way going through this VRMMORPG with the threat of death looming above them. Though, some of you may not want to leave this fantasy world...
 
TL;DR: Your pony OC got trapped inside a generic fantasy MMORPG and are forced to find a way out with the other players in a guild known as the Ender's Alliance. ADVENTURE ENSUES!

RULES:
- No OP OC's. I'll allow any species, but if you have an alicorn OC it will be judged more heavily than usual.
 
- No godmodding on that note, to keep it fair. Tell me if someone is godmodding.
 
- When in combat, you can control the enemies unless it is a boss battle OR a special enemy that is usually important to the plot. If it's a boss, then i'm in control. Same rule with the NPC's, if it's a special NPC i'm in control otherwise you're in control.
 
- There is no 'set' HP system. You decide when you die. I decide when the bosses die. You guys can decide when enemies die, since they're pretty weak unless I say otherwise.
 
- You can also decide what loot you get, unless it's a super special item of plot importance. Then i'll notify you guys of the event. Please try to get reasonable loot. You should not get a weapon by defeating a slime. You should get a few pieces of gold.
 
- No super-realistic violence, but regular violence is fine as long as it fits within an RPG setting.
 
- Do not bypass the character limit.
 
- There is an 11 person maximum. I have exceeded limits before, but I am not exceeding them now. No matter how perfect your OC is, if there is 11 OC's, you cannot join.
 
- There are no levels in this roleplay, however you will obviously get stronger as we progress. Keep it at a realistic pace.
 
- Notify me if you will be away.
 
- Write with proper grammar, please? It isn't much to ask.
 
- If you figured out this is Sword Art Online's concept but with ponies, yes, you can have any weapon you want that fits within an RPG. It doesn't have to be a sword. Magic, maces, axes, lances, gauntlets, they're all allowed. Weapons like guns, rifles, tanks, Iron Man suit, etc aren't allowed. So you can't be Vincent Valentine from FFVII, sorry guys

I do hope I can use this chara. Just created her, so she isn't that developed when it comes to backstory. She is what is refered to as a Pegasus and Unicorn hybrid And not a true alicorn. Her flight is stronger then her magic. Hopefully I can use her. As I said, She has just been thought of so haven't developed her enough to warent a profile. She is a blank slate in this regard.

Other Info: her magic is limited to short range telekinesis, a light spell and a mana crystal recharge spell.

 

She has basic flying knowledge and training.

 

She is about 14 years old and doesn't have a cutiemark as of yet.

 

She holds no connection to the royal alicorns and is considered more of a Pegacorn then an Alicorn.

 

Her flight potential is more like the average Pegasus.

 

Her magical potential is below average to an average unicorn.

Because i'm fine if you use a rough outline of the personality and develop it as you go, but i'd like a backstory or at least reasoning why she's an alicorn to start out with. She is a Pegacorn, not an alicorn. She was born with both parents' racial traits but has more of a nack for flight then magic. She doesn't have the Alicorn's age or power. She is decent in flying. But lacking in magic. As for her background.

 

She was born to a family in Ponyville. Mother is a pegasus and Father is a unicorn. It has always been hard for her growing up to this point. She has had to deal with strict magic instructors who claim she would amount to nothing as a unicorn. At age 8, three years after the normal for unicorns, she learned her first spell, Telekinesis. She had to have a special tutor to tech her magic. (Tutor can be anyone, but was hoping a small guiding lesson in magic from Twilight Sparkle.) By age 10 she was already learning and mastering the basics of flight.

At age 12 she discovered she wanted to learn to fight, just incase she needed to protect her friends. She quickly learned she liked dual wielding mana/energy sabers.

At age 14 she had learned two new spells, a light spell and an energy/mana crystal recharge spell.

the rest is said by the main opening story for the rp.

 

As for her personality, I was going with Equestria standard friendly and trusting but curious and cautious of those who act out of the norm she has grown into.

Nah, Sword Art Online. I actually love the concept of SAO and it has a great opening, but I just felt that the actual show wasn't anything special or great. But I do love the concept.

He looks pretty cool. I really enjoyed reading his profile, he seems pretty well put-together, even if the capitalization kinda threw me off. Neverless, you're in!

Pegacorns look like an alicorn but are more focused in fight. Unipegs look like alicorns but focus more on magic. Alicorns are, in my opinion, the combined form of all three races.

 

The only thing that is the same with unipegs, Pegacorns and alicorns is that they look the same. Alicorns are much bigger then unipegs and Pegacorns. The other two are about the same size as normal ponies.

Your welcome. It has been a racial thought behind the basis of many of my characters. Midnight Aurora is by technicality a Pegacorn. I just made it to where she is more of a dual formed being then a hybrid. My changeling OC Chrysteel is also partly based on this concept as well.

 

Once Lunara is more developed, I will make a profile and then run said profile by the Equestria Empire GM's to see if it actually fits into cannon. Sense that is basically all they will allow.

 

Also is it ok, that the only one who could be able to tutor Lunara in magic and actually succeed be Twilight Sparkle?

Other Info:

-Appearance: Refer to avatar: she is light gray, red splashes. Red mane tied back in a braid. Red tail also tied in a braid. Red cloak (she has a thing for red). Leatheryish strap around her shoulders with a sheath for her sword and a pouch for her throwing knives.

-Age: Teenager. Human years, probably 17ish.

-Cutie mark: A hammer. Her father is a black smith.

-Personality: Stoic, quiet, serious. She hates slackers and lazy people. She's actually pretty easy to win over, she just likes hitting things. If one were to compliment her on her skill in hitting things, she would immediately like them in her own quiet way, but she doesn't really consider anyone to be a friend.

-Background: Not much of a backstory, really. Her mother is a grocery clerk, her father a blacksmith. They were both quiet and shy, met each other, found a kindred spirit and fell in love. The only thing Little Red retains from her parents is her quietness. She wants to be a part of the royal guard in Canterlot, but her father said (very sweetly) that it was a filly's dream, so she doesn't mention it anymore. Her father has taken her on as an apprentice to be a blacksmith, but she is unsatisfied. Intrigued by video games, she wants to have a sword in her mouth, not a hammer.

I don't know how the game will work... I haven't played any MLP video games, so I don't know how stats would work.

Little Red would be really quick and good with a sword and stuff. Not Caliber's level, though. She's pretty small, so that would lead to her having some trouble when fighting strong opponents bigger than her. But her size helps her be really stealthy.

Maybe there should be some sort of form for stats and stuff so it will all be clearer, though. X3

There aren't any levels or stats, really. You just get stronger as you go on and get better weapons, and such. It's just a roleplay set inside an RPG setting, you decide how your character grows as they level up. I don't really want to get too complicated, think of it as a Skyrim level. The more you use something the better you get at it, just at a reasonable pace.

 

Unless you want a level system, in which I can do this...

 

Level caps at 20.

 

STATS:
Strength (How much damage you deal with non-magical weapons)
Magic (How much damage you deal with magical weapons and magic)

Defense (How good you are against non-magical weapons)
Resistance (How good you are against magical weapons and magic)

Speed (How fast you are and how well you can dodge things)

 

Everyone puts in 30 points for all stats at the start, which is enough to make every stat 5 plus an extra 5 points to do whatever you want with them. Every time you level up you have 5 points that you can put in whatever stat you want.

 

In battle, if you attack is higher than someone's defense, then it does damage. If your magic is higher than someone's resistance, it does damage. The formula is technically Attack Power (attacker) - Defense Power (defender). So if someone's strength was 10, and someone's defense was 5, you'd do 5 damage. If someone has a lower magic/strength then resistance/defense, then it doesn't do any damage.

 

Speed is if you can dodge things. Your speed is your dodge percentage. So if you have a 10 speed you have a 20% chance to dodge something if the foe has 0 speed, use an RNG if you want to find out if you dodged something. Be honest. However if the foe has like, 5 speed you'd only have a 10% chance to dodge something. So the formula is Speed Level (attacker) - Speed Level (defender). If you have less speed than your foe you have no chance of dodging.

 

Your level is affected by how much you post. Level 2 is 10 posts. Level 3 is 25 posts. Level 4 is 45 posts.  Level 5 is 70 posts. It's basically 10 posts + 5 more every time you level up. So level 2 would take 10 more posts, level 3 would take 15 more posts, level 4 would take 20 more posts, and so on.

 

Do you want to do the level system or go the original, less complicated mathy way? I'm fine either way.
