Does Rainbow Dash really need rainbows?

I wouldn't think she'd actually need her colors to make stuff, if it weren't for the Sonic Rainboom: so far, she's the only one who's been able to perform such move; I don't think it's a coincidence a move called "Sonic Rainboom" be performed by a pony so much Rainbow-related...
