Is it just me or is equestria girls just one of those things, like Justin Bieber or vanilla ice cream, that people either extremely love or extremely hate?

I have yet to see a completely neutral opinion about these movies. Its always something like "I wish it never existed!" or "Suprised me how much i loved it!" or "Not without its flaws, could have been better". One extreme to the other.

Do you guys agree?

And are there any neutrals out there?

i'm feeling kinda neutral to the EQG movies. i mean, i found them to be quite meh. just not really something to start a lot of commotion about.

tough as with all things that are remotely different than their original show, this was bound to be getting a lot of hate. it's just inevitable! you just simply can't satisfy everybody in a fandom, especially if it's just so large as the MLP fandom.

I'm actually neutral about the Equestria Girls movies.  Yes, they have their bad aspects but they also have their good aspects as well.  Most people seem to look at everything through a tinted lens, with the tint being their biases, their loves/hates, etc.

Ever since I started college I made a goal for myself to always remain open minded about almost everything.  Equestria Girls just happens to be one of those things.  I neither love nor hate it.

I agree there's not a lot of middle ground with the movies, mostly due to their controversial premise. Personally I'm a huge fan of them, but there are some neutrals as well as you can see in this thread.

I don't like them myself, but I don't feel it's our place to hate on them either, because in my mind they were the aspect of the MLP franchise that Hasbro left for the original target audience (little girls) to enjoy with no brony influence. I mean, let's be honest, part of the reason I love season 5 is because a lot of the plots and characters were thrown in there almost specifically for us. That's great, but I kind of hope that we never see that in EG because I think it's the medium that's left to be a production still focused on little girls.

I love equestria girls! the first one may not have been all it has set out to be but the second one is far better, but saying "Justin Bieber or vanilla ice cream, that people either extremely love or extremely hate"  that would be an unfair comparison and come on guys, if it wasnt for Equestria Girls; Sunset Shimmer wouldnt have been a established character, further more Equestria Girls as a series is like a re telling of MLP:FiM only with human leads and a dummed down world other than Canterlot being  endanger from magical threats from Equestria, all things considered EQG has alot to learn as a movie series and it would have more development as a TV series (if possible) and is not well fleshed out as a series like MLP, it has its ups and downs but i become a brony (semi) by watching Equestria Girls 1 and 2, so yeah it will always hold a special place in my heart, and i personally can't wait for Freindship Games... so in short I LOVE it!

I have no strong feelings towards it one way or another. I will say, however, that I wish the ponies would remain ponies... and that's about all you're getting out of me.

I like the franchise as a whole. The first of the EqG movies was all right, though it's not something that I rate all that highly.

Rainbow Rocks on the other hand...

it was actually the first Equestria girls comic that completely sold me to the franchise, before rainbow rocks.

If you haven't read it, there is a video on youtube that plays bgm with the released motion comic version of it. It makes the experience incredbly immersive.

The way each of them attempted to adjust to a school lfe really explored their character in a way that the pony versions havent. my favorite would be applejac, who is ostracized for because of her countryism by the popular kids.

It just sold me that the franchise is capable of telling different stories than the tv series. if you can get past the cliched setting

The comic book stands separate from the two movies. Different writing style and it doesn't follow the Equestria Girls formula that has been used in both movies.
