I have some unpopular opinions regarding Mlp, but this seems to be the biggest. I LOVED Rainbow Rocks, but i just prefered the original EG, for a few reasons

The overlaying reasons:

Everything was so new, twilight going into the human world, the new location, everything was something to explore, in RR i felt like i already knew the place, so it wasnt as exiting

I felt the songs in RR were much more pop, or concerty (thats a really bad adjective), which is fine and dandy, but the original felt more theatrical and sing-along like the original show.

The Specific Reasons:

Another unpopular opinion of mine was i felt sunset shimmer was better as a villian, she had worked 2 1/2 years (100 moons) on getting to be the most popular with her bad girl reputation, and it was all kinda thrown away, she was still good as a protagonist though so i can look over this point

My second point is that my favorite songs were in the original, The cafeteria song, and friend for life, which is still my go-to humming song to this day.

My favorite parts in the original were twilight getting used to being a human, like the funny parts were she would hit the keyboard, or write with her mouth. There were none if those in RR (since shed already been there)

I also loved the first half of the movie, being introduced to the Hu-mane 5 and getting the group back together

My biggest point, a point that i could agrue was the single most important reason: The main character. There was none. Where in Equestria girls 1 the protagonist was undoubtably twilight, in RR the story couldnt decide. Is it Twilight? Sunset? The humane 5? I couldnt tell it kept jumping. Sunset was watching from the sidelines and twilight was paniking over the counter spell, but the humane 5 didnt give enough to the story.

Now Im comparing a foot and a meter here, they were both FANTASTIC movies that i loved, i just liked the original a little better

So does anyone agree? Give me a good argument why or why not, try not to just say "i liked x the best"

The first EG had some good parts where Twilight was learning how to act like a human and I liked Sunset Shimmer as a villain as well. I will say that personally I liked the second movie a lot more but I get where you're coming from.

1.) Sunset Shimmer and Twilight were both the main characters. They both faced the same challenge of having positive/negative expections put on them; their struggles were foils for each other. In the end. they both sang in Duet to defeat the Dazzlings :P I don't know how you can say that there was NO main character.

2.) I think Sunset Shimmer was a pretty bad villain compared to the Dazzlings. Everything she did was fixed so easily by the main characters. Her propaganda video trying to ruin Twilight's reputation was fixed with one song, the incriminating photos were fixed by Flash sentry one minute after they were introduced, making the whole thing pointless(and she should have been punished for making those fake photos). She kidnapped Spike only to let him go seconds later, and was defeated easily after she turned into a demon, and then she suddenly is sorry for everything.

With the Dazzlings, the main characters actually struggled against them, adding excitement.

3.) I think Cafeteria Song is the only song that was important to the plot. This is Our Big Night and Time to Come Together felt like montages with little impact to the story, and Friend For Life was a credits song, not really apart of the story.

Actual quality of the songs is subjective, but Rainbow Rocks had more and more variety in them, that's all I am saying about that.

I did like the first half of the first EQG a lot too though :)

I didn't like Sunset Shimmer as the new main character, preferred her to not even be on the second one. There was just not enough screen time for the mane six. The mean girls trope has already been downplayed on Equestria Girls 1, why do it again?

I wouldnt go that far, Sunset Shimmer is an AWESOME character, and absolutely deserves the protagonist role, because realistically, we spend enough time with the mane 6 in the show, we dont need to spend time with the season 1-esqe human versions all that much.

I don't really like either of the two Equestria Girls movies released so far, but out of the two I prefer Rainbow Rocks.

It had songs that I liked better, and the plot was more interesting.

I liked the first Equestria Girls movie, but the only thing I didn't like was Sunset Shimmer as the villain, I just found her whole character and overall plan weak and her character basically like any female high schooler who is a bully and a mean girl. I did love the songs, story, and seeing Twilight and her friends as humans, but that's about it.

I like RR better but i just wish they showed Sunset Shimmer Turning From Bad to Good More, and Showed it Slower. I love sunset but i think it was shown to quickly.

But the dazzlings made rr more interesting

I freaking LOVE the first one, and I love the second in a different sort of way. I enjoyed the first slightly more than the second. I love them so much I watch a bit of either of them just before I go to work. Every. Single. Day. The intro to the first, especially.
As for RR not having a main character, I was comfortable with that because it's more like an episode where that is very much the case. Both Sunset Shimmer and The Dazzlings had me on the edge of my seat in terms of a villains, but Shimmer seemed so sinister and unpredictable.

I know it's not going to happen but would be more interesting if the next EG wouldn't have to be related to school. You know fight a war against aliens or something. The government starts suspecting unusual activity at the Equestria High and goes to investigate and Twilight Sparkle is caught under investigation.

Well, to be honest the high school motif/metaphor is one of the things that makes it so relatable, personally. Though, I get that some may say it gets a bit predictable after a while, you know:

"Okay, evil person comes in to hypnotise the school to do their evil bidding, Okay? Good."

Thankfully, it never gets old for me, for some reason.

I feel like if it's going to be My Little Pony Equestria Girls, it should be somewhat related to ponies though. Otherwise it's just another high school chick cartoon though to be honest there isn't much of that unless you count Japanese cartoons.

I thought the first EG was better, although I don't like it much. RR sucked horribly IMO.

The biggest flaw with RR is that it's so predictable. There is not a single plot twist to be found. By the 15 minute mark, you should be able to correctly guess almost everything that will happen in the rest of the movie. The only things I didn't see coming were Trixie and Vinyl's roles being slightly bigger than a background character.

The songs were that generic teen-pop crap that we all love to hate.

They blew it again with Flash Sentry, who doesn't do one plot-relevant action in the entire movie. Every single one of his appearances could have been cut out without any effect on the plot.
