Should they make a new intro?

This isn't an anime (even then, some anime don't change their themes for really long time like DBZ). Most western shows don't change their theme song ever, aside from visual changes.

Theme songs have to be restricted to 30 seconds. If it's as long as Mirai Start, then they would less time for the actual episode, just like how they had to make cuts during the Japanese dub of the show.

It's not even about it being broken or whether people necessarily like it. I think it's not good for a show to keep the same opening all the time. The show has changed in many ways and the opening should change to reflect it. Half of the opening is taken up by the elements of harmony as if we needed them explained to us in every episode.

And if that is the case so what? Anime openings are developed to pump up it's viewers as a kind of appetizer to how good the show can get. Of course if the hype is not as great it can be a disappointment but many times the openings are pretty in-line with the show.

Clone Wars cartoon style intro would be neat. The logo appears, followed by a proverb, and then see random scenes of things that happens prior to the episode narrated by John de Lancie.

I would like a new intro (one as catchy and bouncy and informative about the characters as Gen 3's intro) But I doubt DHX would do it

 

if they DO, however, I'd like to see then pull entries from the Brony community. Like actually have them make the intro themselves, have it be a certain time limit, and whatever other rules there need to be, and send them in as contest entries. Staff goes through them on whatever time they have allotted to that, pick a winner, and the best entry becomes the new MLP:FIM opening.

They should have dubbed this for season 5. This is what the intro should have been.

I have always liked the intro and the song, but I was honestly expecting them to mix it up a little bit with season 5, but alas, they did not. It's not a big deal, but I do think they should at least change the video of the intro a little bit, the song can be the same.

They really should change some more things up. It's starting to look stagnant just using the same intro with new things tacked on for each season.

 

At the same time, it's a bit reassuring to see the same intro with minimal changes to show that FiM is still FiM at heart even though things have changed over the five seasons.

I hate the intro and I always skip it. I've ALWAYS skipped it. Its pretty terrible and just not easy on the ears. From what I remember from all the way back to S1, it was pretty ubiquitous for fans to say "yeah, I skip it" when it came to the song.


THAT BEING SAID, I honestly can't imagine them changing it. The "My little ponies" jingle/theme is just so iconic for merchandising (whenever they have a commercial they can instantly make the audience know what the product is just by playing a couple bars), that they're not going to change it just for bronies. Little girls probably don't care after all.

The did change it for Italy, it's completely different (aside from language), and it's about a million times better imo.

A new intro/theme would be a nice refresh, this season would've been a good time to mess it up. I do skip it myself.
