Would you prefer to rent a house if doing so offers lower electricity rates?

I don't know much about the debate between renting and owning a house as that can vary place to place.

Anyway, let's say we're talking about a house that has solar panels on its rooftops and because of that, the landlord offers electricity prices or an electricity pricing policy that is different from that of the local utility's. Not only that, you can expect power outages and brown-outs to be more of a rarity compared to the usual.

The rent might be a little bit higher but the lower electricity rates still make it quite competitive with houses and apartments offered by other landlords. In that case, would you choose to rent?

I would rent a place with solar panels if I could.

PS: My place has solar panels and we get a sum of money every week cuz we have 7 super high end panels and we make lots of power and the power company gives us like a 4$ a week and over the course of the year it adds up.

I personally would love to have an apartment that somehow offered this. Usually electricity rates are okay in apartments from what I have seen but this would lower that and I would jump on it instantly, especially since I am thinking of moving into an apartment soon anyways. Having this option would be nice, but it might not happen for a long time. I prefer an apartment to a house personally.

I'd prefer to have my own house and use solar panels if the bills bother me that much. I wouldn't like to live in a rented apartment because I like having your own private house with it's own garden and garage.

Why would they do that? Doesn't really seem like them at all. Do they benefit from you or something?

This i agree with, as long as i don't have to pay rent; i'm good.
