game Kanieis The Jackalope (Platformer Game Idea)

Ok, this idea came up in my head. You play as Kanieis ("Kani" from the word "Kaninchen" meaning rabbit and "Eis" meaning ice, both German words, literally "Rabbit of Ice"), a rare Jackalope who has frost breath. With the ability to jump high, charge enemies with her antlers, and freeze them, Kanieis must travel through beautiful but dangerous worlds in order to save her home by finding the 50 Platinum Carrots that a spiteful witch has stolen and hidden all over the lands of Mythos, a place of many fantastic creatures and lands. She must also collect crystal leaves, which are the money in the game.

I am drawing a blank right now, so I would like some advice for some more inspiration. I want this game to be a spiritual successor to the PSone Spyro the Dragon games. I hope this game idea people will read it. Not many of my ideas get noticed. I wonder if that means they are bad.

My hopefuly goal is to find a team and make this game for Wii U, Xbox One, Playstation 4, Playstation TV (technically, it could run on Vita, but the Vita would lack the controls), and PC. All will have the same graphics and gameplay, with the PS-TV and Wii U being the cheapest consoles you can get it on.

I really like your idea but since I don't make games and my computer sucks I can't really help you, but I really hope you get noticed this time. This plat former game idea sounds super original by my count. (<- not sarcasm, I am legit)

I like the idea, I think it has some potential. Wish I knew something about games. Jackalope's are interesting animals. You should probably add the ability to mimic, since jackalopes were known to copy the voices and singing of cowboys and frontiersman traveling at night.

If I come across anyone with the know how to help, I will. You might want to firm up the idea of your game more so that if a potential game developer wants to help, you have more info. Like story line and etc, to guide people through your idea.

I know I am pretty much an entire year late, so I don’t know if you even remember this or find it relevant anymore, but after searching for a Spyro spiritual successor, I found this. I really struck a chord with me, as I found it riveting with all the thought put into it, such as the meaningful name, the items, character, etc. As a Concept Artist for a video game, I wanted to be part of the team and bring it to life, through art. So I created artwork that I hope you enjoy and fits what Kanieis looks like, as well as the items, and other characters I invented. Would this be a 2-D platformer or a 3-D platformer?

 

One of the reasons I'm asking is that I'm working on a 2-D platformer for PC right now; it's in my signature.  It's a pony-game at the moment, but I'm planning on making the game engine (and the editor that comes with it) more general-purpose.

Well... even though I have no key development in this project, I would assume it would be a 3D Platformer, as the original insomniac Spyro series were 3D and it is very possible to make a 3D Platformer in Unity and Unreal engine.

 

If it were my decision or call to make, (which it isn't) I would prefer to make this with Unity, as it is easier to work with and Yooka-Laylee has proven very successful on it.

 

On the other Kanieis the Jackalope thread, the OP said her ears were like helicopters, but in my opinion, it would be cute if her ears glided like Spyro's wings. Even when Spyro was idle, his wings would slowly and casually move up and down, if the ears of Kanieis did that, I would squee with joy. I designed Kanieis after Spyro the same way Yooka is designed after Banjo. The Ears look like bunny ears as well as wings, and I didn't  include eyelashes the same way Laylee doesn't have eyelashes and is feminine. I hope I styled Kanieies' expression after classic 90's Platformer mascots, while keeping it charming and feminine. It shows she is willing to go on an adventure and kick butt!

My character Glyde the wasp works as Kanieises companion, helping collect carrots and leaves, and working as a health bar, changing color when you take damage

 

Trapper the Wolf gives you mission objectives, offering you collectables, granting you progress in the game

That's really good Golden Angel! You did a good job on color, I can see the color used on my illustration, and the leaves and gems look really good!
