A two parter or serious episode revolving around one of the other mane six...

So, its not uncommon for more adventure and serious episodes to focus heavily on Twilight; Additionally, when push comes to show in situations it can be difficult to not have Twilight overshadow the others for conflicts.

So, here's a question. Come up with an arc of adventure scenario that heavily focuses on or revolves around another of the other character. Either in focus, growth, or in them being the one needed to save the day. Kind of like how the Nightmarity arc had a heavy focus on Rarity from the comics, or how Rainbow rocks was about Sunset growing, a plotline for the show or comics that has the importance shifted to another character.

What would you have done? how would you have this character be especially relevant to the situation? Would they grow in any way? Would this alter anything for them? Ect.

I'm a Rarity fan, so I'm going to use Rarity.

Part 1: Rarity and the others go to a glorious city. Rarity loved the architecture, and how beautiful everypony was. Then she noticed that everypony was cruel. They put other ponies down to feel more beautiful. Rarity as well as the others stopped seeing the city as glorious. Twilight, naturally, went to the library, and everyone except Rarity followed her. Rarity found a pony who was a mess walking near the alleys. She hid in the rags. Rarity went up to talk to her and learned more about the city Everyone valued beauty so much that they did whatever it took to become beautiful, even if it was at the expense of others.

Part 2: Rarity knew that it was a terrible way to achieve beauty, so she used her magic to make the beauty (or lack of) of the hearts appear on the outside. (She can probably do that. She does a lot of stuff with beauty.) The city ponies, now ugly, were distressed. They didn't come out of their homes because they were so ashamed. Rarity told them what she did. Most of them didn't care, they were still mean. Though a few of them looked back on what they did and started helping each other. After the other ponies saw that those ponies had their beauty restored, they decided to do the same. Eventually, every pony in that city was beautiful and less selfish.

I'm not sure about the other stuff. I just came up with it at around 1:00 AM.

Well, AJ has a reputation for being the least popular/most boring, and not getting as much screentime, so let's do her.  I don't have much in the way of an idea worked out, but how about some kind of explanation about AJ's parents?  Why have they never been mentioned?  Why do AJ and her siblings live with their grandmother?  Seems like they're a lot of story possibilities there, but all of the ones I can think of turn out too dark for the actual show.

I actually would love to see an episode that takes place in the past. A two parter where Applejack's parents are killed by Timber Wolves making her hate them? They can put death on a children's show. Or at least we know they are being killed but we don't actually see it? Honestly, though, I actually want to see an episode about the childhood of each of the Mane Six, but for AJ to get a two parter about her parents, maybe she gets that and an episode where she's young? I don't know!

I would love to see that. What if Big Mac was originally supposed to have another cutie mark, like science or something, but he got his cutie mark when his parents died because he realized that he had to run the farm in order to take care of his sisters? What if he had no choice?

I think I'm going to make myself cry.   :(

Anyway, I would like to see an episode focused on Fluttershy's childhood. From the Cutie Mark Chronicles, we can tell that Flutters is noticeably older than the other fillies, or at least more physically mature, so I'd like to hear more about her parents and her life before she came to Ponyville. It'd make for an interesting filler episode, but probably not a two-parter. I'd also really like a romantic episode with Flash/Twi.

That actually seems impossible based on what Applebloom's nightmare episode said. Specfically, its supposedly impossible to get the "wrong" cutie mark, because its always the most important thing to you. With how destiny seems to work in the universe its hard to finangle "wrong" cutie marks, though you could misunderstand them like clyde.

That being said, not a big fan of cutie marks myself and rather liked them being vague instead myself. (Though that seems to be out the window)

Well, I don't think Rarity herself could do that, since they tend to depict her as not having any magic besides gem finding on her own. THAT BEING SAID, there's tons of magical objects and whatnot in the universe that could easily explain something like that given how the inspiration manifestation book gave rarity Similiar magical abilities and the alicorn amulet made trixie able to do tons of spells.

>My idea

Anyways, I was thinking it'd be neat if they did a two parter focuses on one of the other ponies defeating a villain with their element being the achilles heel of that situation. It'd probably work better as a comic arc though I think.

Have a situation where they do a cold open walking applejack through a day on her farm, getting up, doing the chores, all that. Show it as pretty much being a perfect day, the crops coming in nice, AJ enjoying herself, all that. Then at the end depict applejack's parents calling her to breakfast.

Have it turn out that the situation is actually a magically induced dream; a nightmare demon escaped from tartarus or whatnot, and has begone to place all of equestria into eternal sleep of their greatest dreams in order to feed off them for energy, with only Princess Luna immune and trying to figure out a way to undo the spell. Swap between the two with showing AJ in her dream world and how happy she is with Luna being unable to break through to any of the ponies dreams due to how deeply engrossed in their fantasies they are.

Finally have it be that Luna is able to slightly break through into Applejack's dream world, leaving hints and clues that everything isn't "right" due to applejack being the Element of honesty and the dream being a lie. Finally have applejack tearfully remember that her parents are gone and that the dreamworld isn't real. causing it to begin to break up.

have the Dream creature appear and offer to erase applejack's memories and return her to her previous perfect life, with some extra weedling from her fake parents telling her how proud they are of her. Have applejack respond that she knows her parents are proud of her and essentially tell the creature to piss off due to the entire thing being a lie and not real, with a nice green lightshow symbolic of her EOH.

Have this end up causing a chain reaction that wakes up all the other ponies, breaking the Creatures hold on equestria, and forcing it to leave (though not destroyed or caught, ect.)

The episode when RD finally becomes a Wonderbolt could be one, since by now it's had more seasons of buildup than Twilight's alicornification did. I have trouble imagining their cramming a moment that important into a regular, run of the mill episode since it's something we know she's been working towards ever since her introductory scene. Just have her severely tested, doubt herself, turn to her friends, triumph and kick ass together, profit. It's possible that they'll pull a CMC and just wait until the end of the show to make her a Bolt, or have an episode where she decides she wants something else out of life, but I'd prefer if she had her moment of glory where she finally proves herself worthy.

One about loss and the Apple family would be fantabulous(ly sad :( )

Though the episode where Twilight became a princess wasn't a two parter.

Season 3 in general felt very rushed, and Larson *wanted* to make it a two parter but was snubbed for time. Hasbro wasn't sure or not if they'd want to cancel the show at the magic syndication number like alot of series (its not uncommon for series to go 2 1/2 seasons more or less) and so S3 was very scrunched and rushed compared to other seasons.

Lots of that season actually wasn't given proper due: Like Keep calm and flutter on had alot of complaints that the resolution felt a bit rushed too.

actually, this kind of brings up an issue with Two parters. From what we've seen, hasbro will *never* okay resources to make a two parter unless there's toys that can be garnered from it-- its just the financial state of things, the show is, from hasbro's perspective, purely for toy sales, not for its own sake. So pretty much any two parter type plot would probably only happen in the comics where they don't have to be restricted for toy advertisement.

A two parter about Rarity or Applejack could work, then. I mean we need more Rarity and Applejack toys.
