Although most people just think of "plastic" as one kind of material, there are hundreds of varieties of plastics, some of which are recyclable and some which aren't. Plastics are actually more varied than wood.

during ww2 nazi gemany used petrol engines instead of diesel engines in all of its tanks, the reason behind this is petrol engines require less parts and therefor are easier to mass produce.
this lead to engine overheating and high fuel consumption, for larger tanks like the 57 ton tiger 1 and the 68 ton tiger II running out of fuel was a major problem and lead the to destruction of many unrecoverable vehicles by their crews to prevent them falling into the hands of the advancing allied armies.

Have you noticed the cutie map glitch at the start of MLP epesode 12 in season 6? It's like it's running a bootup process. So is Loran Foust hinting something about equestria that we don't see?

  • There are 10 glaciers on Mount Adams, 12 on Mount Hood, and 25 on Mount Rainier.

Washington is the most glaciated state in the contiguous U.S.

Colorado does not have the most rugged set of mountains in the U.S., that honor goes to Washington's very own North Cascades. ;)

Multnomah Falls, Oregon, is not the second highest perennial waterfall in the U.S., contrary to local tourist guides. (Again, WA boasts this title xD)

Fluttershy is best poni. Fact.  :squee:

Glass is in fact not a liquid, but an amorphous solid with particles that move so slowly that "melting" is impossible at room temperature.

Glass is an amorphous solid, which means it's not a crystal. As a matter of fact it's sort of like a silica-based plastic, except instead of long chains of repeating molecular structures, it's one giant molecular glob. Every pane of glass you see is one giant molecule.

The urban legend that it "slowly melts" is based upon a different mechanical property of semi-crystalline materials called Creep, which behaves like melting in slow motion. (If you put an iron frying pan into an oven at 500ºF for six months, it would look like it half-melted. This is what creep is like.) Glass is subject to creep if it is extremely poorly made and contains large amounts of iron impurities.

Mass-manufactured glass achieves its clear flatness by being floated across molten baths of tin when it's still yellow-hot.

As a linguistics enthusiast I love this fact: The word "turkey" (the animal) is "hindi" in Turkish, in Hindi it is "peru", and in Quechua (Peru's most important indigenous language) it's called "turkiya". The circle completes
