general media Your favorite character in a work of fiction that has been killed/dies.

In any fictional anything. I don't care what it is, movie, TV, books, comics, video games. But we've all had characters that we didn't want to die. But they did anyway. :(

So I ask you this:

Who's your favoritte character in fiction that has died?

How did they die?

How did YOU feel when they died?

Here's mine:

Video Games:

Resident Evil: Piers Nivans. He sacrificed himself to save Chris (even though he could've just gotten the cure from Jake but whatevs.) I literally said, "Dammit Piers!" when he died.

Brothers In Arms: Allen & Garnett. They were killed under Pvt. Legget's lead due to arguing. I just felt so sad, because A&G were my favorites due to their humorous personalities.

Mortal Kombat: Too many to count. ;-;

Anime:

Naruto: Also a lot, but mainly Deidara. He was so cool and unique. Nobody else in that series uses explosive jutsus (at least to MY knowledge). He would always keep calm under pressure, until he fought Sasuke and committed suicide. :( I almost cried, because Deidara died doing what he did best: Explosions.

Movies:

X-Men: Cyclops. He was f8cking killed by Jean. :baconmane: That was one of (if not the most) f8cked up deaths I've ever seen. Especially considering Jean loved Cyclops.

Video Games:

Mass Effect Series: Commander Shepard.  I literally cried like a little baby at the end of ME3  :(

Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time/Darkness: Grovyle.  I also cried when you got through the entire Hidden Land to fight Dusknoir and then Grovyle up and basically drags him back to the future with him.  He was such a badass character and it was a shame that he "died" (UNLESS if you've played EoS, then it's different)  :smug:

CoD: Modern Warfare 2: Ghost.  I would've given my own life to save this awesome soldier that stayed with you through thick and thin.

The Walking Dead: Lee Everett.  I shouldn't really have to explain this one  :(

Anime:

Naruto: Pain/Nagato.  This guy was, hands down, my favorite character in Naruto.  He was my favorite kind of villain (the kind that you know is powerful and evil but has a perfect reason for why he does what he does).  I hated him when he killed Jiraiya but then loved him after he told his story.

There are many others but I don't want to drawl on

Anime/Shows:

L and Light from Death Note

Nagisa and Ushio from Clannad

Prussia from Hetalia (he's not dead but there's a chance he will get killed off)
Yuuki from Tokyo Magnitude 8.0 (Not my favorite but I was crying waterfalls.)

So. Many. Deaths. In. Game of Thrones.

The plot twist in Rebellion with Homura might as well have been a death. .-.

Video games:
Lee from the Walking Dead

Vaas from Farcry 3

John Marston from Red Dead Redemption

Books:

Way too many in A Song of Ice and Fire

Way too many in Warrior Cats

And many others. Help.

For me?

Video Games: Arthas Menethil (AKA the Lich King). He died after his Runeblade got shattered and all the souls bound within his blade attacked him. I felt really sad since his dying scene was quite sad (especially if you know his backstory and have gotten yourself really into that character feels :().

Movies: I think I will have to agree with you on Cyclops

Boromir from the Lord of the Rings. He got shot by 3 gigantic arrows from an Uruk-hai. I was crying since it was such a sad scene, he refused to give up even after being hit by arrows and kept on fighting like a lion to save the Hobbits.

TV shows: Game of Thrones: Way too many and I was sad

Books: A Song of Ice and Fire: Way too many (I'm with ya @Emerald Star).

Jekyll from Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. He committed suicide by stabbing himself with his friend's blade since Hyde was about to gain control over his body. It was sad

Gurren Lagann: Kamina gets mortally wounded by Thymilph, but goes out like a badass by coming back to for a little bit, just to use Giga Drill Break on the guy who killed him, and tell Simon a "be a man" speech

Call of Duty: Soap, being one of the series best characters...gets one of the weakest exits possible

Metal Gear: Gray Fox gets killed by REX, but not until he's able to open up the cockpit for Snake

The Boss, when you are forced to kill her(many man tears were shed)

Well it might seem obvious but a lot of my favorite Game of Thrones characters are dead. The sad part is my favorite character status seems the kiss of death for them. Ned, Syrio, Oberyn, all dead and they were my favorite characters. Here's hoping Thoros of Myr stays obscure enough that he won't get the axe.

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Mordin from Mass Effect, and then Legion, I was seriously on the verge of tears both times.

"Would have liked to study seashells."

"I know Tali. Keelah se'lai."

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

John Marston . . . I did cry.

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

My family and dog in Fable 2. I'll give Lionhead this, they were the first time they made me personally despise a villain in a game.

[spoiler WARNING]

Last but not least, in Fallout Equestria, when Steelhooves died. The fact that it was so sudden and unceremonious was what really did it.  :(

At least he's with Applejack now. They will always be my . . . one true pairing.

It's not technically canon, but I have this image of AJ bucking at the Stable door when she realized that Steelhooves was still out there. The thought of that doesn't help . . . especially considering she was carrying his foal. Oh God, I'm gonna do it to myself again!  :(  :P

Dumbledore I think was the saddest for me. I knew his death was coming the whole time in the sixth Harry Potter book, but I think it was that impending doom which made it worse. He was one of my favorite characters in that series for similar reasons that Gandalf was one of my favorites from the Lord of the Rings. He was wise, powerful and interesting.

Oh crap, I can't believe I forgot this moment. I just remembered Logalog from Redwall. Matthias and a group of warriors were infiltrating the base of a group of slavers which took their sons and daughters captive. They were surrounded by rats and Logalog took an arrow to protect Matthias when his back was turned.

Being taken to the surface to see light before he died, he passes by the jail cell the offspring are kept behind and informs his carriers that he heard them. The offspring are rescued and he dies smiling right as the son of Matthias is thanking him. I wish I could find a clip, my summary doesn't do it justice.

Well there are lot of characters who died who I am a bit upset about. Spoilers ahead!

Chopper from Ace Combat 5 The Unsung War: He dies in the 17th mission, ''Journey Home''. By crashing into an american football stadium. It's so upsetting because he is funny, a loud mouth, and also has good morals. He also liked Rock and Roll.

Bold from Farthing Wood: Man, did he deserve it? No, but if his dad(Fox) wasn't being so mean to him then it probably wouldn't have happened. Fox said to Bold he would do exactly what he says because he was straying into Gray Fox territory. After Fox realized what he had done. He allows, in a Romeo and Juliet style way, but still not overkeen, his daughter to be with Scarface's Child. Heartwarming stuff.

Tadashi from Big Hero 6: He's like a brotherly figure, and because Hiro had to deal with the stress of losing a brother. And also by Murder(Technical Manslaughter?). He really wants to set things right.

Mufasa from The Lion King: This Scene always brings tears to my eyes, and like Simba, I am only finally redeemed when Simba kills(with the help of the hyenas) Scar.

The Boss from Metal Gear Solid 3: Man, Big Boss had to kill his own mother. So now, Solid has commited Patricide and Big Boss has committed Matricide, It's so upsetting. Why murder your parents?

Psycho Mantis from Metal Gear Solid: It's sad because he only redeems himself seconds before he dies. Like Bold. Psycho Mantis could have been better if Snake showed him the way.

Honorable Mentions: Leomon from Digimon, Rat from Fantastic Mr Fox, Rose from Redwall, Sakae from Summer Wars, PJ from Ace Combat Zero. And many others.

SO many characters from books who died that I've never got over!

My biggest one though is Akkarin from The Magician's Guild trilogy, by Trudi Canavan.

He sacrificed himself for his love and it is seriously heartbreaking.

Then of course Sirius, Fred and George from Harry Potter :( x

No one's going to know this character, but Danielle from Kevin & Kell. Through all the crazy stuff and characters in that strip, Danielle and George's relationship was the one I felt most strongly about. Took me a long while to come to terms with her death.

DANGANRONPA SPOILERS

Chihiro Fujisaki, of Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc. Chihiro was, through and through, nothing but a sweet, precious boy, dressed as a girl, who was gentle, kind, and wanted to get stronger, and make friends.

So ain't it just the greatest thing when he gets murdered by a dear friend after just asking said friend for some help getting stronger.

A common phrase people use is "*insert character name here* did nothing wrong", and this precious boy takes that cake, eats it whole, and licks every bit of icing.
