Well, it's possible, but I think it's more likely that the portal not only altered their physical looks, but also their digestive system and tatse buds. As such, they likely developed a tase for human food thanks to the portal.

Their teeth as sirens looked sharp, most likely, they were carnivorous. Also, if we take note the mythological sirens, they lured sailors to their deaths by drowning, and I doubt it's because they like to use corpses as house decor

At first I thought maybe they do eat ponies but then you look at how they feed off negative energy and it got me thinking that they're not like normal creatures and they don't need to eat food but they live off the negative energy. I suppose coming to the human world caused them to have cravings for human food as well because they were no longer physicall sirens.
