Is Sunset Shimmer carrying the entire EQG franshise herself?

Does it seem that way to anyone else? I have no qualms with Sunny, and she's my favorite character (though I would like to see her return to Equestria and contine living as a pony). I just feel as if she's carrying the whol franchise. No one would take interest in the human versions of the ponies because they have already gotten development and establish personalities in the pony world. Whereas Sunny does not.

The Dazzlingss weren't reformed or taken into the group, so they likely won't be back, and with a handful of new characters showing up in the third movie, there'll be too a y to give enough development to in the short.span of movie time. Nor will they be incorporated into the main group in future movies, due to them being from a rival school. So the franchise will continue to be solely supported by Sunny, and her receiving the most development.

You don't need constant development to love a character, but in the case of Sunset Shimmer, she really needed it in Rainbow Rocks. She was a pretty bad character in the first movie, so it was mandatory for the second one to fix her.

Sunset's focus seems to have passed, and the third movie looks like it's putting them all in equal footing. There is also Alternate Twilight who will definitely have a major focus and you shouldnt count out.

I am not sure... i mean she is an amazing edition to the Mane 6 but saying she is carrying the franchise on her shoulders is a bit to high of expectations.....

her contined develipment in the second movie is what made me like her, and yeah, she needed it- but what I'm sayimg is that she's the only character of the main cast who people would take interest in. Because the rest are just season 1 pony clones and why would Hasbro bother develping them again, in the spinoff franchise, when they've already gotten much more development in their Equestria counterparts?

Sunny is the only unique character in the main group, and because we haven't seen her before, and don't know much about her, unlike Human everyone else- she's going to be the one carrying the franchise on her own. (Unless replaced by say, Trixie or human Twilight)

Doubt she would be replaced, at the end of Rainbow Rocks she was made de facto main lead at the end of the film

I don't see how she is more of a lead than any of the other five.

And you make it sound like they will have to follow the development of the pony six to a "T". With a new setting comes a heck of a lot of opportunities for them to develop differently. I doubt Hasbro would bother having them relearn those season 1 kindergarden lessons, and instead more high schooler ones.

I just see FIM and Equestria characters carrying the franchise. The only good human is Trixie and that's because she doesn't have to compete with Twilight Sparkle.

A very good question. I don't think she'll carry the whole EG franchise herself, but I think she'll be of greater focus now that she seems to fill the role of the leader of the group

they might not follow the Mane 6 pony's development to a T, but would you wannt want to see the same character get developed (even on a similar path, because they still embody the same elements) a second time? Especially when the original has had far more development?

Pretty much yes. She is really popular and while she was a mediocre villain in the first movie, she suddenly had a large fanbase due to the second movie where she's all sensible and mature. All the other characters are just human versions of pony characters from the main show so there's nothing new about them and that makes them a bit boring.

If they deal with entirely new conflicts, and learn entirely new lessons that the Ponies haven't, I don't see why not..

Also, I want to argue your claim that they are Season 1 clones.

I mean, Rainbow Dash has still been shown to be as brash as ever even in season 5, thanks to Tanks For The Memories. EQG Dash shouldn't be singled out for this. And Fluttershy has managed to actually appear on stage in front of a crowd, which season 1 Fluttershy would never dream of doing.

Also a new setting can have a great impact on Applejack, as she is always on her farm. Putting a country girl into a city can create whole new array of conflicts for her. (The First EQG comic did really good showing her not fitting in because of it).

In my eyes, they've already differentiated them as the pony versions have never formed a band or become a sports team (besides Rainbow and Fluttershy)

I don't think they are that underdeveloped compared to Season 5 standards, and even so they won't share the same experiences the ponies have, not even close.

exactly. And, I mean, it seems like DHX is just going to keep bringing in temp characters who only stick around for one movie, and never show again, to really get that much development (last time it was the Dazzlings, now it's the rival school kids) because people have already seen the development of the Mane 5 alts in the pony world, and don't want to see the same thing again, so the human 5 go without development so long as the movie keeps up. They shot themselves in the foot, right out the gates, bringing making the same characters as in the pony world (and also, restrictive high school cliche setting) So of course, Sunny, being the only character unique to the main group, is going to be holding it up on her own.

In short, no. I do not think she is carrying the EQG. Although I love her as a villain (3rd best on my list, just beat Cryssi) she got her character development, and she can chill. Although if they make her the Princess of Humanquestria like people said they might, I'm going to go all Assassin's Creed up in this.

What they could do is make Flash Sentry something. Give him a good non-cheesy background and give him a larger part in the third movie. Just to change things up a bit.

I think ...not.... Or at least not exactly......But Sunset Shimmer certainly has a very important role in the movie. She is a "bridge" that connects the two worlds and she is an interesting character. She is practically introduced with the movie and maybe that makes her a sort of a.. key figure in the franchise.
