Let's face it you guys: If Hasbro had any common sense in the first place, they wouldn't let ratings be this low, especially with milestone episodes like this. BUT If they continue this behavior with Season 6, then the likelihood of future seasons seems to be uncertain, if not doubtful. Then we can't help but think the show will also be on some kind of future Hasbro streaming project. The way Discovery Family treats this show sorta reminds me of how Cartoon Network treated Young Justice...I hope it doesn't go that route.

Maybe future seasons, I meant a lot of the people they want seeing the show watch TV on the internet. I don't know if Hasbro is planning a streaming project, but most of the US kids' TV networks are making them now. I meant why not Hasbro start planning an streaming project by now?

The question is: Is there any way to make the show (I meant Season 5) even better or successful on Discovery Family? I have an idea: Why not move the show in Canada from Treehouse TV to YTV (like a Day-and-Date broadcast between US and Canada at 11:30 am), Right? Like TELETOON did to Archer with FX Television USA.

The ratings drop had more to do with a multi-week hiatus than anything. The good news is they have finally started advertising the hell out of the new episodes on broadcast television which should help (proven fact that advertising new episodes drives ratings). Two other elements make low ratings less of an issue than other shows. MLP is a streaming darling on Netflix which is driven by the yearly content upload when a season is completed. Also the show still acts as a platform for merchandise sales, so as long as that stays strong it will mitigate any concerns about fluctuating ratings.

I would like to see the show move to a more dominant cable channel ONLY if DHX can retain what creative control it currently has. If not, forget that noise.

Going to end up repeating my response from a different thread.

The show gets the most timeslots of any other show on the channel, still gets regularly promoted, and with new episodes airing at a regular timeslot. Sure it's been going on break, but so do shows like Adventure Time. What if they're just trying a trade off, some more short breaks during the season to reduce the extra long hiatus between seasons, so maybe we won't have to wait almost a year like the hiatus between seasons 4 and 5?

What does changing the channel it airs on in Canada have to do with how the show is being handled on its US channel?

If MLP ratings on Discovery Family get lower, I came up with two solutions:

1. Hasbro should move the show to another network or even give the TV show to be shown on Local Affriates. E.G In Columbus Ohio WBNS will pick up MLP.

2. More advertising of the show, even on Free to Air TV over in the States.

Do i have to repeat for the 1000th time, that the show can have it's worst rating ever and that it would still air for another 10 seasons, because the toys are selling well?

Sorry, not gonna do this again.

Well technically they could get rid of the show and the toys would still sell because the toys honestly matter more cause of the monies ^_^ Kids would still buy ponies without the show so if ratings do drop so low as for the show to end prematurely, Hasbro won't have to worry too much.

If they're going to sell toys make sure they look as close to the ones in the show as possible. Even kids can see that bullshit.

I have yet to find a decent official AJ with a hat, and let's not even get into cutie mark travesty.

honestly the show is going to last, discovery family knows how popular the show is and if they were to get rid of it the whole entire channel would collapse and revert to some combination of discovery channel, animal planet and tlc which would be a terrible channel so no mlp is safe however the other cartoons may not be safe idk cause i don't follow them or watch them but from what i've seen they seem kinda lame :P

Remember everyone, Hasbro is not just making money from only toys, they are getting boatloads of cash from the all the other merchandise as well, licensing and all that. The stuff that we Bronies tend to collect. So that makes ratings doubly futile.

I will say this though, I don't think Discovery Family is really treating this show well, from what I have seen. I could be wrong their though. It seems like they don't really care about the overall show itself and more about the money it brings in. Which whatever, that's fine and all them being a corporation, but the HUB felt so different to me.

DF needs to start pushing the show more instead of just being all 'meh' with it. Sure, it already has a massive fanbase but more people never hurts.

So the question is: Do you guys think that MLP:FiM would perform better on Cartoon Network instead of Discovery Family? Any thoughts on that?

Oh noes, ONE episode had low ratings, this must mean MLP is destroyed 9ever!!!11!!!oneoneone!!!!11exclamationmarkexclamationmark

Seriously, there's no need to worry about 1 episode having low ratings. Every show has an episode that has low ratings, no matter how popular the show is.

(Off-topic, I have no clue why I'm suddenly replying to a load of Discovery Family threads today)

Rarity Investigates, Amending Fences, Crusaders of the Lost Mark, and MNFBKD also got low ratings.

...And? For starters, how much Bronies even watches new MLP episodes on TV? As for as I know, a lot of Bronies seem to just watch them on Daily Motion.

Cartoon Network would most likely give it a graveyard slot like most of their good stuff usually get(they've gotten better about their good shows, but it's still a problem)

"On our network we have Adventure Time, Regular Show, Steven Universe, The Amazing World of Gumball, Clarence, Sonic Boom and We Bare Bears, but people don't want to watch those, so let's instead run constant marathons of Teen Titans Go and Johnny Test"

Ratings fluctuations happen, it is nothing to panic over and as others have pointed out the main point of the cartoon is to sell toys which is what it is still doing rather well. What would put the show in far more danger would be a significant prolonged decrease in toys and merch sales which we are yet to see. This generation could well be the longest running since generation 1 which lasted for 12 years.
