Hello all!

I'm quite curious to see how many of you have gotten tattoos inspired by the show, or would like to one day, or just your thoughts on the matter.

I personally have yet to, but do plan on it some day soon(I'm pretty indecisive, so many options!). Currently have three tattoos non-related, one in the works, they all mean something special to me which is why I have them (and take so long to decide. It's a big decision!). I only became a brony/discovered the show back in October in one of the lowest points in my life and even almost became homeless, and it and the community have made a serious positive impact on me. I literally may not have made it through if not for this show, and I haven't been happier in years. This is why for me I want to get a MLP tattoo(s).

Anyway definitely didn't mean to make this about me, just wondering about those who have MLP tattoos, why they got what they got/how it came about, what it means to them, etc.

I wanted to make a thread where people can post pictures and stories of their lovely pony-related body art, and others can get inspiration and maybe even some help turning their ideas into ink.

Soo have at it!

As you aren't actually showing off any fan art or any that is yours I have moved this to Sugarcube Corner; which should be more suited to this.

As a general note to everyone, if you intend to post pictures, please be aware of the NSFW rules. Do not post anything that would be considered inappropriate. Thank you.

Eh, I want a tattoo, but only of my kid's initials. And maybe a few other little things.

But no,  I never really want a tattoo MLP related, I'm not sure why, it's just not appealing to me.

I have no tattoos to speak of but I am plaining some non-pony tattoos to get. Though somewhere along the line, I may consider getting some pony related tattoos. I wanna get my non-pony ones out of the way first before planning for pony related ones. I am one who doesn't mind tattoos for a number of reasons. There is a artistic talent behind tattoos. If they have deep meaning to you and your personality in someway. Some tattoos just look really awesome. I'm not one who support tattoo addiction however, especailly if it's just to get tattoos for the sake of only getting ink on your skin, or to look 'cool'.

I firmly believe that if you want tattoos that they have to have some sort of meaning to you. If you get them for their meaning, then I have no problems with it. Honestly, I would be happy to see others show off tattoos that show meaning on here.

I'm planning to have twilights cutie mark on my left wrist, pinkies on the right when I have the money saved up! Might also have Lunas on on my shoulder blade, but not sure about that one yet!

I was thinking of getting some. I did have this one idea that I told a few brony friends who seemed to think it was nice:

The statue from Equestria Girls on my back in a year of the horse theme. Bit of a story to the idea, if I may.

1) The first meetup I went to was Equestria Girls at the cinema, had a really good time.
2) I freaking love Equestria Girls
3) When I went to Ponycon AU, the first convention I ever went to in 2014, it was during Chinese New Year, year of the horse! I had an absolute blast of a time, made literally dozens of new friends, met Andrea Libman and Peter New. A group I was in passed by a big statue of a horse in the entrance of this casino. It was big and red, with big flowers hanging from the ceiling around it.

The tattoo would basically remind me that I only have a set amount of time on this Earth, and to make it awesome. Make every year the year of the horse. Make it special, memorable and worth it. Remember the good times and make more.

Just like Twilight had only a bit of time before the portal closed, so she had to make the most of the time she had at Canterlot High :)
(I know she can now go through the portal whenever she wants to now, but come on, you know what I mean!)

I can't get a tattoo yet because I'm not 18, but if I were to get one that was MLP-related, I'd probably make it a subtle design, so it doesn't look too obvious to onlookers that it's from the show.

I'm not a fan of tattoos at all but if I absolutely had to get one, mine would be subtle enough so that only other bronies could tell it is related to My Little Pony and it wouldn't stand-out either.

I have RD decals on my PC's case and my cricket bat even but I'm not so sure about getting a tattoo.

A mlp tattoo... I love the show don't get me wrong but that idea for a tattoo is just plain silly in my opinion. There are very few tattoos that I find cool but something like this I would get a tattoo of.

I'd rather where a shirt or have accessories or something of that nature as opposed to any tattoo. Tattoos are permanent fashion statements (you can remove them yes but it's annoying) that may or may not reflect with how you want to look. I Will stay way from them completely

Same here. I wouldn't mind a tattoo if it was removable. I'm afraid that after some time I would grow weary of it.

I have never taken on any pony related stuff, I don't think I will ever do but if I have to chose , probably something like this would be:

flutterbat_tattoo_by_hexfloog-d750luc.pn

discord_tattoo__bw__by_hexfloog-d769xah.

There's a fair point. I'd NEVER get one unless I was 100% sure I'd never regret it. Though there are plenty of happy specimens out there who get really stupid tattoos on a regular basis for a laugh and that's just how they roll, I'm definitely not one of those guys myself.

A good piece of advice I once heard is "would you like the design as a tattoo or a T-shirt? A T-shirt you can take off at the end of the day and put it back in your wardrobe until you feel like wearing it again. A tattoo: you are stuck with it FOREVER."

Subtle tattoos like Cutie Marks and/or tattoos in hidden places like the inner arms would be cool if you don't want absolutely everyone to see it. Make no mistake though, a tattoo is a constant representation of yourself, whether it is hidden or not.

I've been dying to get a tattoo of Pinkie's cutie mark, but I can't decide where  I really like subtle tattoos, and I was thinking maybe the back of my neck so I can show it when I want to, but hide it if I don't. Gah I dunno! Anyone have any suggestions?  :kindness:

I would never get a tattoo of any kind, simply because I know myself, and I know I'd end up being allergic to the ink and getting scar tissue and etc.  Yeah.  But if we lived in Star Trek times and had the technology to just wave a triquarter and magically make a tattoo appear, then wave it again to get rid of it if you change your mind, all with 100% safety, then I would absolutely get a l'cie brand on my upper left arm.  I would also definitely get a cutie mark.  But I wouldn't actually want to do something straight from the show.  It should have personal meaning.  It should be my cutie mark, which, since I'm hoping to be an indie game dev, would be a red circle, pink square, blue x, and a green triangle.  (Even though I wouldn't be developing for PS, that would still be the most awesome mark.)  Less is more with tattoos, I think.  Better to have a subtle cutie mark inspired by FIM, rather than an actual picture of the ponies.  Still, I have to admire the guts it takes to actually tattoo a whole pony scene on yourself.

Well, there are many places you could put it where you can either hide or show it. You could have it on your back, shoulders or upper arms which are easy to cover with clothes, depending on what you usually wear, of course. Somewhere on your torso would be even easier to cover, though keep in mind the ribs are one of the more painful parts to get inked, generally. You could even put it on your calves or ankles. I found these online:
