movies/tv Inside Out (Pixar)

I saw it on Friday, and I definitely must say it was absolute beauty and just what feature animation needed - a plotline that really gets you to think and feel.

The level of detail put to everything in this movie, from story to visuals, is consistent with the best of Pixar during its run of virtual perfection until Cars 2 came out. The use of metaphor that makes up the main plot of the movie, underlying the real-life conflicts of growing pains and adjusting to a new home, is beyond imaginative.

Chief among this movie's achievements, to me personally, is its portrayal of Sadness. Our society, as well as ourselves, on an individual level, portray sadness as a terrible hindrance that stunts progress. That is exactly how the embodiment of Sadness herself in the film was treated at first - as a nuisance that needed to be controlled by the other emotions, when all she wanted to do was contribute and find her place. Her resolution in the film really delivered a message most others seem to miss in embracing sadness as a part of life, as a step toward getting over frustration and loss.

Overall, a very enlightening, creative, and thoroughly entertaining film. I'd like to see what kind of discussion we have on this film.

It was good movie, but my mom fell asleep halfway through (and that's a first). Although it's a great ride and some of the dialogue can be painful, it's kinda forgetful. I feel that next week I'll barely remember what went on.

I forgot this movie existed for months. I really wanted to see it. If it's still in theaters I should go this weekend.

It just started this weekend.

It's actually bettering its box office estimates, but unfortunately looks to be on track to run second to Jurassic World. Pixar's best movie in years might have the misfortune of being one of their few to not open #1 due to the misfortune of going up a week after a blockbuster. :(

I loved Inside Out. It was so well done.

It looked and sounded amazing, the cast was perfect, the comedy was on point, the dialogue was well written. A bit or few were predictable(particularly stuff with Bing Bong), but the movie was still very enjoyable.

I'm not excited to see this movie.  The premise is just ridiculous sounding to me.

That's what I'm afraid of.  I hate metaphors.  I much prefer a literal approach.

Considering that it's made $91 Million in its Opening Weekend, I think that's agreeable.

Just went and saw it yesterday with my family, and it's either my favorite or second favorite Pixar movie (it'd be second only to The Incredibles). Wherever I rank it, it was easily the most emotional of the bunch :derp:. Terrible and obligatory joke aside, I mean it in the literal sense too. It's a real rollercoaster that had me and several others in the theater openly crying, and then smiling and laughing again minutes later. I came out of the theater feeling fresh, reenergized, and happy to be alive. It really did hit me on every level, and I plan on seeing it again soon.

Any worries I had before watching the film were taken care of before long. Can you really have a nuanced cast when each character is defined by one specific emotion? Turns out the answer is yes, and the main few emotions were developed nicely by the end of the movie. I'd like to praise Joy as being a particularly well-written (if not always likable) character, and Sadness was great as well.

Ooh, it's really that good?

I was gonna watch it last weekend, but I watched Jurassic World instead (awesome movie too, btw). Inside Out sounds like a movie I'd like. I'll try to watch it this week.

Havent seen it yet, but it sounds like i should

Are you kidding me! Of course you should! The gags are better placed then in some of the other Disney/Pixar/ whatever animation company movies, so you're in for a real treat. The characters are well designed, the message is very nice, and it is much less predictable. Still predictable, but less than other Disney movies. Overall, you're in for a real treat!

You really should. I saw it last night, and might I say, it was AMAZING.

I really want to see Inside Out :pinkie: It looks so good! :fluttershy::wub:

And hopefully it'll stop the Frozen hype! ;)

Lmao, hopefully it does. One and a half years, and that thing never ends. ;)

It was, and I agree with everything you mention here. Did you change your profile picture to match that love? :muffins:

When i saw a commercial for it, i thought that the animation was very cartoony. I thought it might be a good movie, but nothing groundbreaking. Now that i heard the reviews like "can compete with pixars best" and "one of the greatest animated movies of all time" i kind of got curious. My favorite Pixar movies are Toy Story and Wall-E and if Inside Out is really as good as these, i am really in for a ride.

Oh man... words cannot describe how much I absolutely adore this movie.

I'm a huge Pixar fan, and to see this has left me simply amazed with how much effort and thought is put into this creative movie. To be honest, I was rather disappointed with Pixar's last three movies. They're not bad (okay, Cars 2 is quite bad), but they don't have the heart within most Pixar movies. To see a movie like Inside Out shows that Pixar still has that heart in their movies. Because of this, I'm pretty optimistic to see how The Good Dinosaur will turn out.

There are tonnes of things that I just love about Inside Out. From the creative visuals, to the original premise, to the character designs, to the metaphors and implications of growing up... I could just go on and on about how beautiful this movie is. But if I had to pick out one thing I like about it, it's the characters. They're all charming, humorous and delightful to see them interact with one another and grow. I loved Sadness of all of the five core emotions, though. She is the most likeable character in the movie, and goes though the best development. I also loved how they also implied that sadness in general is important, as most of society these days tend to forget about that.

This is probably my favourite Pixar movie yet, and maybe even one of my favourite movies. I'm planning to catch it at the cinemas a second time soon. I highly recommend it to anybody that hasn't seen it yet, because it is such a thought-provoking movie.

I don't know...that's tough considering The Lego Movie couldn't dismantle it and how much of a raw marketing machine Frozen is compared to Inside Out.

I don't care what anyone thinks about the merchandising; I'm going to buy as much of it with my limited funds as I possibly can.

Sadness was amazing, the scene where she comforted Bing Bong was my favorite of the movie.

It shows that Joy isn't always the best solution to everything (well that was maybe the most important moral of Inside Out). It would be nice to see that moral in MLP:FiM too.
