There's a notification for upgrading to Windows 10 on Windows 7 and 8.1 devices and will arrive on Wednesday, July 29th, 2015 as a free upgrade, so that will be after my birthday by 1 day I'm getting Windows 10 and will finally upgrade to that OS on my device. This one is better than it looks on Windows 8!

Windows 10 is familiar and easy to use. It includes an improved Start menu and is designed to startup and resume fast. Plus, it’s packed with new innovations including Microsoft Edge – an all-new browser. Your personal files and even pinned apps will be there for you. We’ve designed the upgrade to be easy and compatible with the hardware and software you already use with your docs and files preserved.

Don’t miss out as this free offer won’t last forever.* Reserve your upgrade today.

“Upgrading from Windows 7 or Windows 8? You will love Windows 10!”

I've been using the Insider Preview on my laptop since it was first released for testing, and I'll tell you one thing - You'll be impressed. Feels soo good to have the start menu back, Cortana is really good, Speedy, New Modern UI changes... It feels so light.

Reserved myself a free upgrade copy, can't wait for it to be RTM!  :yay:

I just wonder though, they say personal files and apps will be kept. How about other things. I have about 700 gigs worth of fallout, skyrim and oblivion mods. As well as a 100+ game steam library

it doesnt have any major style changes, i mean 8 had a hole different menus but 10 looks like no changing.

if going from 7 to 8 has this changes, then 8 to 10 suppose to be more ...

I hope that you liked the start menu, also I'm glad that that you have installed the Insider Preview and see what it looks like. Until July 29th, Windows 10 is ready for you!  :)

I'm sick of Windows 7. Gimme.

Sick of Windows 7? Try upgrading your computer OS to Windows 8 or 8.1 for a faster performance, or Windows 10 if you reserved your free upgrade with the notification you received then until July 29th it's ready to install.  ;)

Don't tell me this one is mainly for apps. And can't believe 10 is already coming, it seemed forever that Windows 7 was out.

I have a lot of doubt on these new OSs since Windows Vista, how can I be sure I can still play all my games on it?

Most games can run on any new operating system. If they don't then the easiest thing you can do is change the compatibility mode on them to a different operating system

Damn it's a free upgrade? I'll have to seriously give this some thought and do a little research then to see if I'll make the switch. I've had Windows 7 for a long time now so I've gotten pretty attached ^_^

For some reason, even though I updated my computer with the required update, I never got the notification, the program didn't install. I'm really annoyed because I can't find any way to fix it.

If you haven't found a solution yet, this page helped me with the same issue: http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/windows-10-upgrade-notification-enable/

I also have a question for anyone who may know: I've reserved an upgrade for an old computer I have, but I'm extremely reluctant to go ahead with my main, as I've heard that it will DL (yet not install) automatically, and I'd like to have the chance to test it first. Will it be possible to reserve now, but reject the upgrade later?

I've made my decision. If the Windows 10 Start Menu has instant access to the Control Panel like in Windows 7 then I'm all for it. It's a feature I use regularly and I like having a quick gate to it, I hated having to search for it when I used my cousin's computer which has Windows 8 :(

Woah, I'm the only one who didn't like it? :o

Seriously, I think Vista is better. At least Vista looked nice. :sunny: Windows 10 is quite simply, ugly. Really ugly. The icons, the taskbar, the whole lot.

I'm a big fan of Aero, and I did like Metro in 8/8.1. I'm not saying I hate Windows Metro, I just hate what they've done with it for Windows 10.

Because no Microsoft, it isn't the desktop I love at all. ^_^

I actually bought Vista when it came out, and I was far more impressed with it than Win10. If possible, I'm going to triple boot with Win10, Win7 and Ubuntu. I'm disappointed with Microsoft for the measly operating system. I know it's just a technical preview, but I doubt the design will ever really improve. :( And this is the zenif of Microsoft Windows apparently, so I'm just going to have to learn to love it. Besides, it's beginning to grow on me anyway ;)

I've reserved it and installed the technical preview. I'm very excited to see where MS go with this one, it could be pretty interesting :yay:

As soon as my computer started prompting me to reserve my free Windows 10 upgrade, I reserved it.

Can't wait until the end of July for it :P

I've been a member of the Windows Insider program and have been using the various builds of Windows 10. Let's just say that I think Windows 10 will be a success.

Been hearing a lot of good things about this lately and I definitely will be getting it for my laptop. :3 I am still using standard Windows 8, not even 8.1 :P

The one thing that I am really curious about though, does this mean that the new Xbox One UI will be available here soon? I know it will be based off of Windows 10 and I am really excited for that.

I have reserved my free upgrade of Windows 10 on my laptop as in the beginning of June on Windows 7 OS then upgraded to 8.1 for a faster performance including the Microsoft Store and waiting until July 29th, that's the latest Microsoft Windows OS and I'm excited about this!  :D

I certainly can't wait for this update myself... As I have two computers that could really benefit from a nice OS upgrade. :fluttershy:

However, I'll be taking an image of my current Windows 7 install and keeping that away for safekeeping just in case Windows 10 ends up sucking, or there are a bunch of backdoors or something like that.

I reserved my copy as soon as I my notification popped up.  Now I'm just sitting here on the 30th...waiting for the ability to install Windows 10...

Am I missing something?

Well considering it releases next month, that may be the only piece you're missing. :P

I have it added as a tile to my Windows 8 start menu.  That's just as instant access as 7.  I'll never understand why people are so afraid of the tiles.
