Can Friendship Games live up to Rainbow Rocks?

So.... Pretty much everyone agress that Rainbow Rocks is infinitely times better than EQG1. Better animation, better songs, better story, better villains amongst other things.... So do you think EQG3 can live up to the awesomness that was Rainbow Rocks? Post your opinions below!

The Shadowbolts and Crystal Prep have equal, if not more potential as villains than the Sirens, especially that glasses wearing one. The possibilities for her are endless. Also, if my hunch is true and pony Twilight has less of a role, they can spend more time on developing the humane six, rather than mostly Sunset and Twilight in RR.

 

And the songs, when has Daniel Ingram ever let us down? My only hope is that Fluttershy sing.

 

My only wonder, is Archery fun to watch? It feels like you just take turns shooting a target for points. Motorcross is andrenaline pumping, but they need to introduce an element of risk in these sports. I am guessing thats where pony magic will shine the most.

I see no reason why Friendship Games can't be just as good, if not better, than Rainbow Rocks. I like the basic idea behind it; we just have to see how the execution of it comes about.

It can absolutely live up to RR, just like we never thought we would see a saiyan battle in mlp, it happened!

 

Also, there were still quite a few flaws in RR, like protagonist identity crisis, that could easily be fixed in the next one. When have the mlp creators let us down?

hrm....-rubs chin- I'm not sure. Rainbow Rocks was pretty amazing, what with Sunny kind of being the main focus. Might just be the major Sunny bias, though. I don't expect she'll get nearly as much screen time in the third movie, what with 5 or 6 new characters (the rival school, AND Sci Twi) being brought in

I damn sure hope so. If they stay on the same track of improving, then friendship games is going to totally rock. And here's to hoping it has some good songs with it! (altho without the dazzlings I dont think they can do better than RR but who knows, its daniel ingram)

Oh it can easily live up to it (and possibly surpass it), I don't think RR is really the "awesomeness" that everyone makes it out to be (not that it's a bad film), so again yes it can live up to RR.

Could be the best EG movie yet.

 

Don't worry. The EG movies always sounds stupid due to bad marketing. We can only judge them when we see them. It will probably be good although maybe they should just make a Rainbow Rocks 2. I like the idea of a story about music like that. I don't think the quality of music will exceed that movie because the focus will be elsewhere...but if it's on story then it might be for the better.

I think (and hope) so. The villains have a lotta potential, I can see it working. I hope they use some of the Equestria villains are staff/teachers for the other school, Principal Sombra anyone? I wonder if the Sirens will return though, not as villains, but just being there. Ah well, we'll see!

Well, we used to think the same about Rainbow Rocks and look how it turned out  . I'm sure they'll put a risk factor in these competitions... THEY DID IT WITH A FREAKING MUSIC COMPETITION FOR GOD'S SAKE  , but I'm a little concerned about the Shadowbolts, I just jope their big numbers don't impede some characterization on them

I think it can, I mean the overall concept from what we've seen looks interesting and it'll definitely be cool to see some new villains and maybe human Twilight plus Sunset Shimmer.

Well there's not much to live up to. For now I remain indifferent on the subject; depending on if there was any possible way to make any of the movies at least decent to my eyes.

Yes and no. I have noticed that the series of movies so far has different themes and tones for each movie. The first movie was more of a take on the highschool social classes and structered like a typical highschool narrative. RR is more based off of musicals while retaining the highschool settings, and having a music theme. Equestria girls three can have a better quality animation and music, but can we compare to a totally different kind of narrative and do booth justice? That is why I would say booth yes and no.

Yes but it's the same thing. Another student having issues with friendship and yet another competition story. It will be the third in a row and probably overshadowed by magical elements from Equestria. They're playing it safe with this story and I believe it will underwhelm.

Rainbow Rocks did set the bar fairly high, so it won't be all that easy to top it. I enjoyed both of the first two Equestria Girls movies, so I have little reason to doubt that this will be another enjoyable experience, whether it tops the previous title or not. I think Friendship Games has all of the potential to be just as good if not better than Rainbow Rocks. I already like the premise better than that of the first two films.

Let's just hope for the best. I personally don't care if it will or will not be better than RR. I am still getting the Blu-Ray once it's out (I also want to see it in local theatre...if it will be there). Plus I want me some more Sunny. Boy, does being good fit her now.
