movies/tv 90s Are All That.

As you know, TeenNick has a late night block called the 90's Are All That. It's been on since 2011.

The problem is, they keep showing the same 5 shows (Rugrats, Hey Arnold, Rocket Power, Kenan and Kel, and All That) over and over. Why do you think this is? Is it because these shows are the most popular?

That's neat, I didn't know that TeenNick was doing that.

Those are probably Nick's most memorable shows from the the 90's. I guess it makes sense that they would use those. Everything else belongs to Cartoon Network.

Probably... Although I don't remember Rocket Power ever being popular. It was - and still is - the butt of many jokes because it was trying way too hard to be "in".

Although, I don't know... I personally preferred the Cartoon Network shows of the time altogether.

When the block first began, they had other shows on there too. I remember a few of the other live action shows like Hey Dude!  or Clarissa Explains It All on there as well as cartoons like pre-Disney Doug. Nickelodeon had plenty of other shows at the time that don't show up very often, like Ren and Stimpy, Rocko's Modern Life or Aaaahh! Real Monsters. The problem with this is that they show their commercials filled with clips of shows that haven't made it on there and I know it's pissed some people off. One could argue that the likes of Ren and Stimpy and Rocko's Modern Life aren't on there because they got away with a lot of dirty subtext, but there's a commercial on there dedicated to pointing out their dirty subtext, so that doesn't hold up.

Most of the shows that were advertised have either only aired a couple of times, or haven't at all.

They air the same stuff because Nickelodeon's gonna Nickelodeon

This is the same network that usually airs nothing but Spongebob for 70% of their channel nonstop

Ugh, indeed. Despite what they say publicly, darkness or creative differences or what have you, I maintain that the Nickelodeon execs cancelled Invader Zim in favor of giving Spongebob more airtime.

Man the 90s sucked. Nothing was good about it.

Lies and salamander!!

The 90's had plenty of awesome stuff.

A lot of awesome cartoons (Spider-Man TAS, Batman TAS, Powerpuff Girls, Gargoyles, Dexter's Lab, Beast Wars, ReBoot)

It had the SNES, Genesis, Nintendo 64, Playstation and their countless good games

And it had good shows like Star Trek DS9

AND IT HAD DOOM!! One my favorite games! Ages like wine!!

I have seen the 90s are all that, not a lot of it though since it happens late at night and I live with other people, as to not wake them. I do note that they only air a handful of the 90s shows mostly, mostly the ones that were the most popular like Rugrats, Hey Arnold, and All that. And unfortunately, they air CatDog. Yes, this is where I learned how much I hate that show.

I do wish they'd air more, and maybe go through the whole night, or air earlier since I don't like to wake people.

Nice b8 m8 I r8 8 out of 8.

But yeah, seriously, I miss the 90s so much.

Wish friggin' Cartoon Network would get a clue and do a few "blast from the past" segments.

My guess is that all the people watching it are teenage 90s babbies who don't remember shows like Salute Your Shorts, Kablam!, or Ren and Stimpy. They have to rely on stuff like Rocket Power or Hey Arnold, which reran throughout the 00's.

Well I guess that depends on where you are from. Good to see so many westerners think that there experiences are in tune with the rest of the world. And that the 90s was just filled with video games and cartoons.

>No war

>No economic downturn

>No loss of national pride

But who ever accused westerners of having an open world view anyways?

Or, you know, we were all children in the 90s and those heavy things weren't a part of our world view at all at the time.

Heh, I actually watch that all the time whenever I go to visit my grandparents who have cable.

I like it since I loved many of the original Nicktoons, but I wish they had more shows on there, like Angry Beavers and Rocko's Modern Life. Why Rocket Power?

Though this does make me wonder, why is there such a call for nostalgia based blocks? If you wanna watch these old shows and bumpers, there's this little tool called the internet that you are using. It's really great. Or you can buy the DVDs.

You seriously have some issues. Take your prejudice elsewhere.

I brohoof cause there's an odd level of open-mindedness in your post, but I'm inclined to disagree as the close mindedness seems to outweigh it. I'd argue that you're going about this all wrong. Don't make the mistake of thinking that everyone knows whatever vague description of an "easterner" you're trying to portray.

Meh, it was about as close minded as anyone elses post. I guess I just dont like being called a troll when I suggest that the 90s were not perfect for everyone. Or people saying 'I have issues' when I explain to folks that in further.

But this is not a debate section so I will leave it as what it is.

Funny enough I did not know that Tara Strong was in shows in the 1990's.

I have some VHAS tapes from the 1990's where I recorded some SatAM shows.
