gaming Do aspects or features of Pokemon disappoint you?

Is there anything in the gameplay of Pokemon from any generation, disappoint you guys?

For me, it's the fact that Pokemon Bank won't let me transfer my gen 3 Pokemn that I transferred up.to Black2, like Venusaur with skull bash, or Charizard with Mega punch or Mega kick. Truly disappointing.

Could do with a better story.

I hope they focus on making new games instead of remaking old ones.

I hope they stop doing what they did with crystal version, where the release basically the same game with some minor tweaks, and instead focus on making new games.

I'd say a lot of the new features are a bit disappointing, the ones in the 3DS titles. Many of them seem very gimmicky to me and for me they don't add a whole lot. I am really tired so I cannot think of specifics at this moment but many of the new features are meh in my opinion. I do like the interacting with your Pokemon thing though, that is pretty sweet. Cannot even remember the name of that right now. XD

Also, I hate the stories and dialogue in the new games.

Event Pokemon.

Hey, isn't the slogan "Gotta Catch em all?" How am I supposed to if you only distribute that Pokemon for a limited time.

More like, "Gotta catch em all if you come to Gamestop on this particular week."

The numerous ways the already easy games are becoming easier. OR/AS are the worst in this regard, with the already over powered EXP Share given way too early, a mega-stone wielding legendary about half-way through the game and the Cosplay Pikachu having max stat in every contest category, guaranteeing it'll win the first three levels and possibly even the fourth solely from attending.

Yeah, I know all these features are technically optional, but the fact that they're even included annoys me.

Pokemon-Amie. I have wasted literally hours just playing games with and taking care of my Pokemon. Nintendo needs to make that it's own thing eventually.

I do agree the games have been getting easier. X/Y and OR/AS are arguably the easiest games in the series. Considering the franchise is not known for its difficulty.

Now, one thing that's always bothered me: Some of the base stats for some Pokémon have been weirdly distributed. Look at Electivire, for example. It has a drastically high attack stat, but Electabuzz has a better special attack. Imagine if you raised a special attacking Electabuzz in 3rd gen, then find out its evolution is a physical attacker in 4th gen.

This is what i don't like about the game as well. Seriously "Gotta Catch 'em all" is what we are supposed to be doing but than here come the event pokemon and legendaries that you can only get at gamestop and not get a notice about it till after the pokemon is unavailable anymore.

@@Kelldrick,

If you turn the EXP share off, ORAS and XY are as challenging as the other games in the series.

Anyway, I dislike event pokemon and absurdly low catch rates (I'm looking at you, Regis). The event pokemon just make getting certain ones too much of a hassle, hwile absurdly low catch rates don't make getting the pokemon fun and excitin, it makes it just get tedious after a while. I'm fine with Regirock putting up a decent fight for five minutes and then maybe one or two minutes of 10-20 ultraballs. I don't want one hour of me throwing 50+ ultra balls and 100+ dusk balls and resetting multiple times due to Struggle.

@@Shift:

Yep. I only turned on Exp. Share so my Pokémon were close to each other level-wise. Other than that, I turned it off most of the time.

Event Pokemon and dealing with status effects on Pokemon, I remember status effects annoying me ALOT as a kid.

Oh goodness, that reminds me of Emerald and having to deal with wild Wurmple poisoning me just about every second or third Poison Sting. That crap was annoying to deal with early on, especially when PokéDollars were hard to come by.

ORAS post-game content. Seriously, there's like nothing there.

Look at the remakes of the past, HG/SS had an incredible amount of post-game content, a whole second region that they even went to the trouble to touch up and balance. Fire Red and Leaf Green added the sevii islands, allowing for pokemon outside the first generation to be caught.

ORAS?... A 30-minute side quest with rayquaza and deoxys and the freaking battle maison. I swear, I'd love to get hoopa to open one of those dimensional holes under the battle maison and warp it to the Under in Orre... Which opens up a whole other topic: cheating AI which calculates counter teams and rely on luck-based items to inevitably destroy you.

The series as a whole. I understand it's supposed to be baby's first RPG but it's just too awkward for me. One to two characters in a party at once when you have six does nothing more than lengthen the game time by forcing you to grind (though that's fixed in the latest ones where you get the Exp Share much earlier in the game).

The battle system almost always comes down to whoever goes first. If you have the type advantage sometimes even that doesn't matter.

Pokemon is probably the most enigmatically popular series of all time. Nearly every RPG in existence can do everything Pokemon does but better.

I used to really love the games and be able to play them again and again. However... lately, I have been tiring of the gameplay in the series. I find the only thing I really am excited by is the introduction of new Pokemon. Otherwise, it's just the same thing over and over again. It took me this long to realize that playing this same game over and over again isn't fun. But not because it's the same game over and over again. There are other games I can play again and again and still love. (Like Final Fantasy IX.)

But this game, I don't even really like it that much. It's full of so many outdated, tired old features (or lack-there-of) that while small, all combine together to really frustrate you. Such as the entire existence of HMs (nobody likes them, why can't they just remove them?), a lackluster story that does nothing to motivate you to slog through the gameplay, lack of full character customization, the fact that Pokemon can only know four moves when there are SO MANY moves out there, a broken type system that is still broken in spite of their attempts to fix it, and honestly? Pretty much just everything. When I think of all the ways I can make the games better, I just end up creating a completely different game.

And that's the problem with this series. It doesn't know how to move forward in any significant way. All it does is increment small updates over time that really should have added in two generations ago. It hasn't spiced up its gameplay, or even tried experimenting with different styles. Pokemon seems to think that it can just get away with adding in new Pokemon every generation, inserting a few gimmicks, and then polishing up the little thing or too that people complained about. The sad part? It works. And for a while, it worked on me.

I really just wish that it could be more like the Mario series, and kind of make an actually different game every Generation whilst still retaining familiar features to link it all together. In my opinion, whilst I find the addition of new Pokemon to be the only appeal left in the series, I would prefer if they focused more on the gameplay itself rather than just relying on its own popularity and peoples' excitement about the new Pokemon. Yes, I know your slogan is "Gotta Catch 'Em All." But if this was just solely about collecting, then there wouldn't just be an entire story campaign to go through, gym leaders to beat, evil teams, and the E4. It would just be collecting rather than a full-blown JRPG. So I really do wish they would put more effort on that part.
