Worst fears when you get older?

What is everyone's worst fear when they get older?

Mine is becoming more forgetful.  Cause all this time, as you enjoy life, you create memorys that you charish. Only to know when you get older, to the point where your brain gets weaker, to the point that you begin to forget things.  My biggest fear is not death, but how I may one day, lose my memorys.  As I get older and forget my cherished memeories.  That is my biggest fear.

We collect pictures and mementos just to REMIND us of the good times we have together...

What about the rest of you?

Mine is kinda related to @@Rye_B_P, - I'm probably most scared of developing Alzheimers, I can't imagine much worse than not knowing who I am and having to rely on others for absolutely everything!

Alzheimer's. I'd sooner be killed off than slowly and helplessly forget everything I cared about. Fortunately, death isn't one of those things that scares me about getting older. The fears are all around getting weaker and the brain turning into a scumbag

My fears for the future include:

- Living and dying alone

- Having bad health

Besides my health suddenly taking a nosedive, my biggest fear is ending up homeless and alone by no fault of my own, since a large number of homeless people aren't alcoholic drug addicts like the stereotype would have you believe, but regular people who just got unlucky and lost everything.

As I've gotten older, recently got married, decided to remain child free, I'm finding my biggest anxiety and fear about life few is being alone. Losing my husband and growing old and becoming ill and having no one to know about it or care. I try not to dwell on it.

My own death... never being able to know what may or may not happen afterward until we actually take the plunge has been a constant strain on my psyche since I was a kid...

ME TOO. I am always wondering if there is a tragedy waiting to happen tomorrow. If my death will be terrifying or painful. What will it feel like. Will I make it to my 90s or even make it to 40.

A victim of unrequited love, i must admit.

What happens to me, i find irrelevant.

But my Love, she means everything to me. And that's exactly what i would give up for her.

Her unhappiness. Living a life of empty promises and broken dreams. That is what i fear.

Her sadness burns me. And I fear she may never be truly happy.

The older I get the harder it is to connect with others and making friends seems impossible.

My, my, what a cheery thread.

For me:

  • Never finding my true love.  Growing old alone.  The older I get, the slimmer my chances become of finding anyone.  I want to have a some good years together when we're still young and in good shape.  I know there's a lot more to a relationship than this, and I know it sounds shallow, but I want to experience the joy of a sexual relationship before I have to take medication for erectile dysfunction, and she for vaginal dryness, and before we can't see each other due to cataracts.  That's still a ways off, but the years are slipping away very quickly, and my chances with them.
  • Never figuring out a way to make a living.
  • Being alone when my parents die.

Absolutely the same here. My grandfather had alzheimer and he spent his last 10 without memories, was unable to do anything on his own, couldn't tell us if something hurts...just lying in bed, wordlessly. It is the worst when somebody important to you can't remember you or anything. I can't imagine a worst disease for me. It's my biggest fear.

I have quite a few fears for this..

Being forgotten: This is a fear I have developed rather recently. I am afraid that one day many may forget about me and I won't have much else to speak for.

Being alone: Much like the first one, I am terrified that one day I might be completely alone, with nobody to talk to or anything. This one has hit me on some nights where I would randomly think of it, it's weird. I don't want to lose my friends, but I have this little fear in my mind that one day I may not have any friends.

Death of family and friends: This is something I have not experienced a whole lot in my life and I am afraid of experiencing it with anyone that is a friend or family member. I know these types of things are inevitable one day, but even with that, I am not sure ho well I could handle it.

And lastly, my own death: I have been afraid of this ever since I first majorly thought about it when I was 10 years old. This one is pretty self explanatory.

Yeah, pretty depressing stuff, I try to not think about this stuff if I block it out.
