Not entirely honestly. I find them to be funny in small bursts and as a way of comedic support among other characters and for that they are hilarious. I guess I am just not keen on the new movie and how that makes them a focal point. They are very lighthearted characters and I do like that.

Also, 3000 posts yay. ^.^

I enjoyed them in the first movie but now I see them everywhere, so I'm starting to become annoyed by them  >_>

I have no opinion one way or the other. However, I am not in the least bit bothered by them. Sure, they were marketed quite extensively at one point, but that has REALLY died down, and it's not like they weren't preceded (or followed by) overmarketing toward other brands that people find 'acceptable' like Star Wars and any of the comic book super hero franchises.

Oh and a year ago, it was Duck Dynasty plastered everywhere. I will gladly take the marketing of Minions over that. I wanted to cry/vomit when I saw their faces all over childrens' merchandise... To think that they were trying to be marketed as the heroes for our next generation to look up to. The Minions may be stupid, but at least they're innocent fun, and not hateful and backwards.

   It was quite boring, the Minions were side characters, with little to do with Despicable Me, aside from comedy or to give the main characters something to react to, Gru, Margo, Edith and Agnes were the real characters in those films. It is rare for side characters or comic relief, to stand alone in a spin off show or movie, like in the eighties Star Wars had animated TV shows, like Droids and Ewoks, you might remember them, but they were not the spectacular success the producers hoped for, in fact it kind of reminds me of the Star Wars Holiday Special, which the Wookies were the main focus of the plot, and that was a train wreck. I liked Despicable Me because of its main characters, not because of the minions, the gimmick overstays its welcome very quickly, and you are mostly watching someone's fan fiction, who like the minions above the Gru and the girls, it may make sense to make a Dr. Nefario spin off, but he is not as profitable, over all the movie was underwhelming, and it makes you wish you were watching Despicable Me and the sequel.

I didn't watch the Despicable Me movies in their entirety but my roommate dragged me to see Minions earlier this year.  I thought the movie was funny and, being an avid convention goer myself, VillainCon 68 was a nice touch.  :)  A lot of the complaints about them are that they're just overused and ubiquitous.  And you know what?  Even though I have a soft spot for Bob, I do admit they got too much in the publicity and merchandise departments.

Minions = good.

But them being main protagonists = bad.

It's not that I don't like them. In fact, I do think they are entertaining, unique characters. I'm just over them. I liked Despicable Me (both 1 and 2), but by the time the Minion movie came out, I was kind of sick of them, so I never saw it.
