TCB: Why such hate for something so silly?

Note: Conversion Bureaure related thread.

I can't really talk.... (just think I'm someone else)

Why such hate for something so silly? (Conversion Bureau stories are hated a great deal.) We are talking about small, pastel, alien horses invading Earth to save Earth and turn all humans into teletubbies (in the mind at least) ponies that worship Celestia as a god.

Why such hate for something that sounds so ridiculous? It's alien horse people coming to Earth in order to save destroy humanity by turning them all into ponies.

Does it upset people, that the ponies we know and love have been turned into basically evil alien conquerors?  How out of character the ponies are? How happily they commit xenocide on humanity?

Um, that's not how most conversion bureau stories go these days. Do you even read bro?

The most widely accepted form of TCB cannon would be Chatoyance's universe. A dystopian future where the earth's population has skyrocketed, the resources are scarce, the ecosystem has collapsed and mankind is on it's way to doomsday. Ponies appear and offer humans the chance to convert in a world becoming increasingly filled with Equestrian magic, something lethal to humans. Stories themselves are about whether to convert or not, whether you're still you on the other side, if you're willing to give up what it means to be human and also confront a world where the mighty human race is going extinct and two cultures from across dimensions are colliding.

So no. The stories aren't about xenocide anymore. Do your research before posting. Here, I'll even help:

(If I'm allowed to plug my own stuff, I'm currently writing a fic about Equestria and Earth joining together in the late 1920s. It's inspired by TCB, but without any of the baggage attached to either side of the 'verse.)

I guess the reason TCB is so despised is that it's become more of a political battleground than a fanfic. The authors imagine an actual war between humans and ponies, and write propaganda for their side. I supposed I'm far more disturbed by those who choose the equestrian side, and write stories based in unabashed misanthropy, but even authors on the human side need to chill out.

Zombie ponies? Really?

Humanity would be better off dying in the flames of nuclear fire of than living as slaves under Princess Celestia.

I'll be honest... I could not even finish such a story. (I've tried reading them, but I just rage quit after a certain point) Said story only filled me with anger and made me want to see the ponies dead and the 'evil' humans to win. It is an immature attitude, but I tend not want to read stuff that upsets me.

I'd much rather read something like: The Conversion Bureau: The Other Side of the Spectrum. In which canon ponies come to kick these TCB Ponies butts.

Or The Conversion Bureau: Setting Things Right.

Zombie ponies? Really?

The most hardline, anti pony human with a huge pony kill count once converted often betray humanity the instant when they become a pony. It's a common trend in TCB.

You take a large group of angry, homicidal humans that are members of a fascist, kill all ponies party... or an entire nation of people that say kill all pony scum. Free will is often taken away from the humans... so the humans can't go on genocidal campaign of revenge against the ponies.

If not due to the fact Princess Celestia is overpowered and can not be killed, anti pony towns in which only newfoals are allowed would be formed. Signs 'Newfoals pony. No ponies allowed'. One such story is sorta like that http://www.fimfiction.net/story/13194/the-conversion-bureau-still-human

A place in which if a non newfaol pony was to visit droves of angry former humans would kill him. A place if Celestia visited the former humans would riot and throw bricks at her.

But that doesn't happen... humanity's evil human nature is wiped away and they end up worshiping Princess Celestia as a god.

Could it be the rampant xenophobia perhaps? The fact that the transformed humans are little more than mind-controlled slaves? The immense OOC of everyone involved? Or even the fact that Celestia in that universe is an OOC tyrannical nutcase who sees genocide and mind raping her subjects against their will to force them to follow her as reasonable ideas?

I'm sorry, but I really don't like the TCB.

In the beginning, TCB might of just been another wish-fulfilling "Humans become Ponies" stories, but has since been twisted into something far worse. There's a good reason that there are just as many anti-TCB fics that involve the canon MLP universe encountering the TCB universe...and being utterly horrified and disgusted by it and siding with the humans to wipe out the TCB universe.

This is an actual quote from one such story, where the real Princess Celestia tells "Queen" Celestia how awful she.

Queen Celestia: ""There can be no peace, no compromise, no accord between Us and Them. You have seen his memories, how they poisoned their world, incited violence and murder, turned our own ponies against us!"

Princess Celestia: "And you have done just the same, or even worse! You have corrupted your Equestria, tainted the souls of precious ponies with cruelty and malice, and drawn two realities into a war of endless death and atrocity! Harmony, true harmony, transcends species and worlds – it is the finding of common ground despite differences, the nurturing of love between all! You would create a desolation and name it Peace! I will not allow some Tyrant rule with an iron hoof. I will not allow an entire species to die quietly and fade into the darkness. I will not stand to see the rape of innocence and innocents alike, of the peaceful being forced to take up bloody arms, and the grotesque being violated in mind, body and soul! Equestria, all of Equus, will rise against you! We will fight. We will turn this darkness away, and come to the rescue of all you have subjugated, Pony and Human, Earthborn and Equestrian alike. We will cast you down, and cast you out! In Harmony’s name, I swear it."

I don't like it either!

TCB Pony Logic: But we have to save humanity by destroying humanity by turning them all into ponies.... (yeah, it doesn't make much real sense)

Non TCB story: Here's the real way the ponies to save humanity, in which they are close to canon ponies fan fiction can make them... if not even better: When the Sun Come by Scarheart.

I love that story. It's one of the only the Conversion Bureau stories I like. I do like some others like Setting Things Right or United We Stand. Those are the among the few stories I like.

What kind of TCB have you been reading? Cause that's nothing like the stories I've found. The most agreed upon canon for TCB tends to have more depth and complexity... and a distinct lack of mind control.

It's pretty obvious you don't like the xenocidal variant of TCB cannon, and I can respect that, I don't read those stories either.  But don't pin your disdain on the other facets of the universe, especially the primary ones.

A focus on what it means to be human or pony is what modern TCB is about. We've no longer affiliated with the barbarism of xenolestia. You should be happy we as TCB fans have moved past this.

I am rather confused.... the first example you give me in this thread is to read Chatoyance's fan fiction? I tell you here and now, I could not last two minutes reading her work without wanting to smash my computer screen in. The TCB story I would somewhat tolerate is if the barrier does not expand and the ponies aren't the Borg. I have not really found such a story.

The only TCB story (not pure ATCB) I like was by Grayscale and Rise Again the rest of them I dismiss as complete garbage. Unless, it's a pro human war story against TCB (ATCB: Anti TCB) or parody to mock it.

Also isn't Princess Celestia in TCB often an omnipotent and all knowing mary sue god. In which she can commit genocide and even eat human babies due to the fact she has no one to answer to for her actions. Being omnipotent she can do whatever she wants and still be the 'good guy' no matter what?

Not necessarily. She's actually one of the primary antagonists in TCB: Code Majeste. And if it helps, humans play a good guy role in that story too.

You're also making it sound like ponies aren't giving human a choice in the TCB universe. Humans don't have to convert, but they will live shorter lives and die from magical exposure as a result. This ain't about the human race fighting on and persevering against all odds. It's about coming to grips with extinction and taking any way out possible. Even if ponies weren't involved, the allegory would still remain the same: what do we do when confronted with the absolute end of our species and what are we willing to give up to continue?

They don't. Because Princess Celestia created the barrier to wipe away any trace of their existence. Due to the fact all humans are soulless, evil scum that need to be converted into ponies.

Seriously, I would rather read a human x pony romance story. At least then I can avoid the genocide of all humanity.

what do we do when confronted with the absolute end of our species and what are we willing to give up to continue?

We would be better off just going extinct rather than this and leaving a message in the stars to mourn our passing, so that some alien species would read our books and hear our music even long after we have all died. I mean, it's doesn't sound great to have our human minds broken, loss of free will and the destruction of our bodies. Doesn't seem worth it. If we are to die why not just die by the natural process of time (slow death of Earth, the sun dying etc) sort of thing? I imagine many other alien species in the universe would suffer the same fate, why not us?

That's assuming we don't head out to space to find another habitable planet. (If that's even possible) Or become immortal human cyborgs? (Again, if that's even possible)
