So i don't know if any of you noticed this too, but the animation looks different in the newer music videos and in the FG trailer. You can notice it best in the hair animations, because the hair is less individual and seems to be animated more in chunks. It is most notable in Sunset Shimmer, whom they also changed the look of.

While we are here, how do you guys like Sunset Shimmer's new look? Besides the outfit, it seems her orange color is also darkened, along with her eyes being more pointed at the ends.

Edit: Now that I look at it, the hair animation appear more sharp. Ill use an example. Sunsets hair is divided into these bacon strips, and in EqG1 and EgG:RR, whenever she ran, or there was wind, it would always bob in these strips. But now, whenever the same thing happens, her hair is sharp at the ends, most easily seen in the My Past is not today music video.

I gotta say I'm not a fan of the half length jacket ( in real life or in cartoons). I liked the classic black leather jacket with the studs on the collar. The purple T shirt has her cutie mark on it ( just like everyone else's clothing in Equestria girls) the new outfit dose'nt seem to feature her cutie mark at all. The old skirt is tighter, and to me, looks a lot better. The only change I see as an improvement, is her new boots. Seriously, those old boots were hideous.

 

Her old look reflected her "bad girl" image (leather jacket, tight skirt), so I think they changed her look to fit with her reformed image. I personally like the "bad girl" look. I also notice that they changed her overall color scheme. The old was orange, purple, yellow and black. They have dropped the purple altogether, and instead went with a light blue, which goes nice with her eyes (do girls actually try to match their clothes to their eye color?), and the orange, which was prominently featured on her old skirt, is now just an accent on the sleeves of the stupid half jacket. It would seem that people that care about things like which colors go together, and which colors "clash", usually would say that the colors orange and purple fall into the category of colors that clash. (...or so I've been told while wearing those colors). So her original colors may have been designed to clash as to match her role as an antagonist.

 

Are the screen shots you posted from "My Past Is Not Today" video. Maybe that outfit was just a one-off costume change for the video to differentiate stage wear from street clothes.

The first two are from Rainbow Rocks, the 3rd and 4th are from the FG trailer. Only the last one is from the music video. So im pretty sure those are permanent new changes to her design.

I like this new style better, sharper, darker and I feel like there is more depth in the animation...  Also Sunset Shimmer looks amazing, as always.

I haven't seen the trailer yet, so I'm just gonna talk about new Sunset. I don't like it. The skin color is wrong (that sounds wrong), her hair isn't right, and her outfit doesn't suit her. Those are nice boots though. Also, does anyone think her new outfit kind of looks like Pearl's old outfit? It's similar to the new one too, I just think it's more like the old one.

I prefer the new style. Her boots look great and her dress looks more thoughtful than the original (matching her eyes very subtly instead of just more orange).

I like both styles but I don't get the muted colors.  I mean it works,I just hope it's there to help distinguish her from her human counterpart,(Human Sunset Shimmer needs to be introduced!)  

Hopefully her Human version having more of a redish hue while pony Sunset takes on a yellow one. (cause I would love it if Sunset went all Super Saiyan and we had the EQG equivalent of Goku vs Freiza, just with Pony Sunset vs Human Sunset! That would be so awesome!  )

With this new outfit, Sunset Shimmer is the only person at Canterlot High that dose'nt have a cutie mark on her clothing. Which just seems really wrong, considering she is the only one at that school that has ever had an actual cutie mark!

...it makes her who she is! How do they just leave that off of her outfit?

I didn't really notice anything new about the animation. Perhaps it looks better than the previous two movies, but I don't think the style itself has really changed. Though I could easily be wrong.

 

As for Sunset Shimmer, I'm digging the new look, although I will also miss her old design. Her new outfit is lacking her (superultraextremeawesomazing) cutie mark which is strange, and overall it is a more unique attire than what the other mane characters wear, which makes Sunset stand out a lot more, for better or worse. I actually like her new half jacket and tight, sexier boots. Once again though, her design seems to conflict, but in a different way than before. Her previous design saw a color contrast, but this time it's the "theme" of what she's wearing. She retains her bad girl look with the black leather jacket and high heeled black boots, but yet she's got that frilly, feminine light blue dress on. I preferred her purple top with the cutie mark, but the rest of her new design is as good or better. Probably the biggest change that will be the hardest to adjust to is the change in her hair color. It's a lot paler than before, which makes sense for her heel-face turn if you think about it. Her hair isn't as "fiery" looking as it was before.
