'About Me' Deleted

It has seemed that my 'About Me' section of my profile has been deleted, and I'm quite sure it wasn't me who did it. I have no problem if re-creating it, but it did take me a bit to complete and I'm not liking the idea to having to re-create if this keeps happening. Any idea how it did get deleted? Is it a bug or something?

Did you click the "x" in the top right corner while editing? I did that, and it wiped my About Me.

 

Otherwise, might just be a (hopefully) one-time bug. Sorry for the briefness of this reply, but I'm on mobile.

Staff might have removed it because something might have not been quite right or following the rules.

You might have accidentally deleted it when editing it, it sometimes does this.

Ah. This happened to me last year, and I was pretty darn upset about it. 

 

The only way I got it back was with someone going into something that basically turned time back a bit on the computer and he copy-pasted and sent me my about me page. I'm not exactly sure what it was, but if you can find/know of something or someone to do that for you, then just do that. ^^;

 

I think it is just a bug that hits people once in a while.

It's been quite some time since I edited it. But recently added something to 'Interest'. And as far as it having something wrong. Wouldn't have I been warned? Or told that it was changed? Not to mention it really just had Brony/Gaming facts.

I became a Brony back in 2011 while flipping through the channel and came across Party of One. Nothing else was on that caught my eye, so I it left on. [spoilers] I LOVED IT! This is a very infamous bug regarding the About Me editor. If you open it, and you close it pressing the X button, it wipes out the About Me, simple as that.

 

The only way to restore it is to have a backup stored somewhere, hopefuly have it saved on Website Archive, or write it all over again.

 

Also, as a matter of fact, if your About Me went against the rules, you would have already been properly contacted by a member from the staff about the reasons behind its erasing. This is plain About Me editor glitch.

I thank everyone for the answers they have given and the quick replies. My 'About Me' is back to the way it was and I know it was just a glitch. (Or me being unaware of closing it.) Again, I thank all those who helped and replied! :squee:

This is a known issue. There are very rare, but known incidents where if you edit a field in Profile Settings that isn't About Me, it will include an empty About Me in the update. The quickest solution to recovering your About Me is to google "site:mlpforums.com [name] profile" where [name] is your name (e.g site:mlpforums.com Drakkon profile). Find the result that's your profile page, and there should be a "v" to the right of the link. Click it, and in most cases there will be a "Cached" option. Click that, and it'll bring you to a cached (ie, old, usually between a few days to weeks) version of your profile page.

Something similar happened to me as well quite a while ago. Instead of just going missing all the html coding came up :P it's still on my profile cause I'm too lazy to fix it :/

This is a different issue, and is also fixable, although not by you. Contact any Admin or myself (I am not right now sure if moderators can do it, but I think they can, so maybe try contacting them next time) and they'll be able to patch it up. I already fixed it for you.
