rainbow rocks Why Do Aria Blaze and Starlight Glimmer Look Alike?

When I first saw The Cute Map, this came to me. Aria Blaze and Starlight Glimmer look simular. Why?

 

Well, I made a fan fiction of What Happened To The Dazzlings after they were defeated by the Rainbooms in Rainbow Rocks

So what do you guys think? Is Starlight Glimmer Aria Blaze? Or is she something completely different?

The similarities are just less subtle than the differences.

 

Starlight's highlights appear Cyan while Aria Blaze's are a greener and darker Aquamarine.

 

Then look at the eyes: Starlight's are clearly blue while Aria's are purple.

 

Overall, Aria's colors look more Saturated and Dark than Starlight's more pastel colors.

When I first saw Starlight Glimmer, I too thought she was Aria. Especially since this takes place after Rainbow Rocks, I might've thought after the Battle of the Bands, the Dazzlings would retreat back to Equestria for some reason. In the Season 5 Premiere, I thought the concept would be we would only see Aria or we see Aria for the first 2 thirds then later we see Sonata and Adagio.

 

But, as the big day got closer, I found out that Starlight was a completely different, separate character. That blows.

I do not think that they are related, but it might be the designers of the characters. Aria was a siren, while Starlight was a pony, whose special talent is magic related.

Yeah the mane color choices even if it's multi color is the exact same. Starlight's teal is just a bit lighter/softer.

Even if Aria Blaze and Starlight Glimmer looks alike, they are different characters and there is no link between them. Aria is a siren, and Starlight a pony. Add on, their goal is not the same: Aria (like the others sirens) want to be popular and control the human world, and Starlight want all the ponies (Of her town, and then of Equestria) to be equal.

So I think it's just a coincidence.

My opinion is no, but I did actually find a similarity stretching past the color scheme:

We all know that the Sirens and Starlight had different goals. The Sirens wanted to feed off of negative energy to gain more and more power in order to take over the human world. Starlight wanted to steal the cutie marks of every pony in Equestria for all ponies to be equal.

 

Now, we all know that Starlight did not give up her own cutie mark. So essentially, wouldn't Starlight have taken over Equestria if her plan had succeeded? Every pony in Equestria would be helpless, and at her will and whom since she would be the only pony with power. Similar to how the Dazzlings would have had the human world at their will and whim since they had all of the power.

 

I still think this is a coincidence. Their personalities are drastically different. Also, Starlight seems to be another unicorn who's talent is magic, calling for an abstract cutie mark. A color scheme that works and doesn't point to anything like a fruit, but also meant to be many a tad intimidating and look good together isn't easy, so they went with this.

The difference between Aria Blaze in Rainbow Rocks and Starlight Glimmer in "The Cutie Map" are look like with the same purple mane color (including the cyan striped).

I actually didn't notice that until a minute or so after Starlight's first appearance. I think that the differences in her voice and hairstyle threw me off. Besides, Aria is a siren. Of course, maybe losing her necklace changed her voice and turned her into a normal pony...

It's nothing more than a strange coincidence.

Besides there are only so many decent to good color combinations available to work with.

Well aria blaze and the others got their gems smashed. So that would be and explanation for why she was a pony when she came back.

Plus, aria had wanted to overthrow adagio from the start. You can see that by some little hints that are given throat the show. That also explains why she thought that twilight's cutie mark was "important" to their cause. She had seen twilight in action. Tell me if you agree!
