gaming PC Gaming Performance, Windows 10 and Directx 12

So what is this Directx 12 I keep hearing about? I'm using Windows 8.1 and from what I got from all the tests done with Win 7, Win 8.1 and Win 10, Win 8.1 averaged out having the best performance with all the tested games.

But this Directx 12 is only available for Win 10. From the tests I've seen Win 10 had the worst gaming performance. Was this only because Directx 12 isn't fully added into Win 10? What's going on? How good is Directx 12 that it will make Win 10 have the best gaming performance? Isn't Win 8.1 better for gaming performance?

DirectX is essentially how the game will communicate with the Graphics Card. Each generation of DirectX should theoretically be more efficient and therefore increase your gaming performance. I haven't tried out much heavy gaming with Windows 10 yet, so I don't know how much of a performance increase to expect.

Please let me know how it goes. I suppose FPS is a way to gauge performance.

DX12 has the potential to get some increased performance- when games start getting made using DX12, which I believe the first will be later this year. The huge numbers that they boast about comparing DX12 to DX11 is using draw cell counts, which isn't very accurate to real-life performance. I'm expecting about 10-20% better performance using DX12 once drivers are optimized and games actually start using it.

As for current games right now, Windows 8.1 and Windows 10 are pretty much equal, maybe (MAAAYBE) only a bit better in Windows 10 right now.
