Alright, so I wanted to start a topic on what you guys think is the funnest multiplayer game you can think of. Now whether it is a game you play on the couch next to your friend or on the network across the globe, as long as you can play with other people, it fits the category. Me personally I have always enjoyed the pride and true of couch gaming, that's why my favorite multiplayer game in my opinion is "Gauntlet Legends" for the Nintendo 64.

It is an old game yes, but Gauntlet Legends has been my childhood for years and I remember playing this game with all my favorite relatives. The game lasts a very long time, you can choose up to 4 types of characters increasing the replayability, each of the levels and the gameplay overall is balanced nicely to be fair, and the game is littered with secrets and puzzles to complete. I love this game and will be forever etched into my heart.

I felt Halo 3's multiplayer was my favorite in the whole series. Everything just felt fresh, it's a shame that it more or less is dead now. :c

I dunno if I could pick any single favorite game. I only recently started playing coop, and with a specific person too. I used to only ever play single player.

Some games I've had a ton of fun cooping:

Gears of War 1-3

Army of TWO: The Devil's Cartel

Resident Evil 6

Halo 3

Earth Defense Force: Insect Armageddon

There are some games I've cooped but weren't as fun like RE5 and EDF 2025.

Today I'm gonna get Phantom Breaker and that looks like a lot of fun though.

I remember going round a friends house with my xbox and tv, just so we could hook my xbox up to his and have 4 vs 4 lan games on Halo 2 - excellent times! Though, to be fair, all the halo games I've always had a blast playing multiplayer (whether online or split screen), so I'd put the whole series up there.

I guess Borderlands 2 should be on my list, have played with friends for hours on that!

Finally, Minecraft - another I have sunk way too much time into with friends (I don't actually enjoy the single player that much, I only ever play it for the multi)

If I were to choose a game that would be up to par with today's technology, it would probably be Minecraft. Now I know Minecraft is like bland as hell at this point, but there are some truly creative things you can do with it to keep it fresh. Some people can basically make another game like an obstacle course in the game  and the limits are your own creative vision.

Best multiplayer game?  So many good choices there.  I would still go with Rock Band 2.  Back when I used to play that one with friends it was a guaranteed great time.  The party atmosphere it brings is fantastic.

Online I'd go GTAV I guess.  Almost 2 years with it and it is still on the short list for my online friends.

Minecraft is definitely a game I think that makes for some of the best multiplayer out there, even just playing it with one other person to me is far more enjoyable than playing it alone.

You know what else I think is very fun in splitscreen? Call of Duty. While the series has been shoved into the ground by this point, it still can be fun to play in splitscreen with a friend depending on the mode. Call of Duty Ghosts overall is not a very good game but one of my most fun moments last year was playing 'Infected' with a friend, it was a blast.

I have also had a lot of fun playing Dynasty Warriors with a friend of mine, that is also fun to play together, but that one is an acquired taste.

I have also been reminded recently that playing music games with friends is still a blast, it is great that the genre is making a comeback, if Activision does not run it into the ground again.

I second the Gears of War games, I think those have always been great for co-op. :3

Me, my brother, and other family members used to have some lan parties with the original Halo, excellent times. :)

The Gears of War series is the most fun to play to me, both split-screen and online. I have had nothing but good experiences playing online with random people and it's fun to play with a friend sitting beside you.

Portal 2 is also fun if you get stuck with someone who's an ass.

And I had some fun playing F.3.A.R. with a friend a year or two ago.

It does make me sort of sad that couch co-op is more or less dead. So many games that get released now are focusing on online multiplayer to the point where there is little point in owning a second controller.

if it's MMORPG, the best experience I had would be Final Fantasy XI. Teamwork, cooperating, generous, leading the parties, being nice to other people, hanging out with them and my friends, and playing my favorite and main job class, summoner (SMN).

The worst experience from MMORPG would be maple story. My friends wouldn't take me on boss runs for greedy reasons Which I don't understand that, but seriously though. the game is all being generous to your friends and guild members. not charging your friends and guild members for hard boss runs for greedy reasons. It's completely unfair for other people who are trying to help out, and get gear. It's extremely frustrating like that. As my friend said, real friends don't charge boss runs. Maple Story just lacks teamwork and supporting guild members and friends, but all I see is just glory and greed than teamwork and support.

As of other multiplayer games, Well probably super smash bros. It's just all about fun regardless of win or lose. I learned that from my past mistakes and not rage quit. the game is all about experiencing your battles and have fun. Team Battle wise, well it's all about teamwork and communicating with your teammate.

The best gaming experience would probably World of Warcraft. I remember playing and felt like I was in the world as my character. The different races and classes a character can be, the locations, duels, and everything else made the game exciting and not have a stale type of feeling. It was also a great experience to meet players, to join guilds, to do raids together, and all and all make good friends from around the world, both in and out of the game.

Another I would say would be Halo: Reach. I remember that being my first online game when getting my Xbox 360 for Christmas. The team battles, the crazy and intense moments, and some abilities for your character online made the experience inventive and strategic in a way. The forge mode was also a great experience for custom maps or to play certain games with others for fun, hilarious moments to occur.

Finally I would probably say Super Smash Brothers Brawl. I remember going over a friend's house with 3 to 4 other people every Friday night after school for the weekend. Every chance we got we put the game in and enjoyed a couple rounds of smash brothers. We each had variety of characters to main and always played with custom stages we created to make the games more intense. We each won some and lost some, but in the end we had a lot fun, and made some fun memories playing that game.

Playing Super Smash Bros. (starting all the way from Melee) with friends was a large part of my late childhood gaming. I loved it, and still love playing Brawl with my friends now, and can't wait until one of us gets a Wii U so that we can play the new one together.

TF2 has very good multiplayer, and some of the MMORPG's out there have decent communities.

I like Splatoon multiplayer because no 12-year-olds are screaming into the mic about how 'OMG I JUST HEADSHOT YOU WITH A SPLATTERSCOPE!!!! SCRUB I BANGED UR MOM', but it's still very fun multiplayer even without chat. Also, you have a few simple phrases you can communicate most things, like 'JEEZUZ PULL YOUR WEIGHT GUYS' (c'mon) and 'DON'T YOU DARE LOOSE THE ZONE/TOWER' (oh yeah).

DOTA 2, you could argue that LoL is similar but honestly, after thousands of hours on both i find that DOTA 2 requires so much more coordination between teammates which i find makes it a much more exiting multiplayer game.

The best multiplayer experiences I've had include DotA 2, TF2, and Battlefield 3 and 4. The awesome memories and experiences I had in these games will stay with me forever.

You're always going to get idiots in any multiplayer game, and I've some great moments playing online, but the most fun I've had in multiplayer is playing with my friends. I'll never forget when I had a 4 player smash bros. match for the first time, which was also my first hour long match :D

Trading and battling with my friends on Pokemon Diamond and Pearl was also so much fun, oh, and Pictochat, that was the best!
