Do you honestly think the brony fandom should never be criticized or mocked?

To be honest, I can see how non-bronies mock us after seeing what some of the bronies do.

I agree. Also, many non-bronies haven't seen the show at all, I think they have to watch it first before they judge.

I really think everything can be criticized, we are not special, it's really simple, if it's constructive criticism, take note. But if it's not, you just shouldn't care B)

All fandoms are mocked and criticized, so why should this one be avoided? I mean some people can seriously make this fandom look like the worst, so I don't blame some of the people for their comments. It's the internet, you're going to be criticized no matter what.

Nope. Just as much as I'm open to criticise things out there, other people have the right to criticise the brony fandom. As for the mocking part, it happens a lot everywhere. What can you do?

No one should be made fun of due to what they like. Because people like what they like. Only the MLP fans who go crazy at anyone who hates the show should be criticised, think.

I don't think that anyone should be made fun of for watching the cartoon and enjoying the franchise, regardless of their gender/age. The baggage that has gotten attached to the fandom by far too much of it, I can not defend, though. The Brony fandom should definitely be held accountable when it goes out of line, and it has many times.

The problem is people hate the fandom as a whole. It's exactly the same as generalising an entire race - saying all chinese people love noodles, or something like that (I don't know, I'm bad at examples). It's plain wrong to do. It's also the fact that a lot of people don't even have legitimate reasons to hate on the fandom, they just do it because we like something that they think we shouldn't like, and again, that's not okay.

Criticising certain elements of the fandom, like the rule 34 making part of the fandom, or just certain people (AND STATING THAT THEY ARE ONLY TALKING ABOUT THOSE CERTAIN PEOPLE), is fine. Criticising certain elements of the show, again, is totally fine - but saying the entire show sucks without reasoning isn't.

It basically comes down to people making blanket statements about the show and its fandom. I hate that and I think most reasonable people hate it too.

Nnnnnnnnooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is the last thing we need.  Why do they need to put such a horrible spin on it?  Why do they need to even mention the MLP fetish?  That's not part of the crime, so why even bring it up?  To me, this is no more relevant than saying, "Man who likes pizza charged with child porn."  Now all the idiots are just gonna go, "See?  I told you so.  Brony = child molester."  God dammit.

To answer the OP's question: I honestly think that no one should ever be seriously criticized for watching the show, but it's not like the show or the fandom is perfect.  And you gotta have a sense of humor about yourself, too.

Wait, so was it plain child porn or pony child porn? There's a massive difference there... If not, then I would have to go with @Justin_Case001 - the pony fetish has nothing to do with it! This is the last thing we need ;_;. And honestly, I thought brony acceptance was starting to grow...

It should be criticized if there are legitimate problems and specify what group is doing it instead of blaming fandom in its entirety unless problem actually does apply to entire fandom. This seems to at least partially be reason why people would deny being Bronies or somehow try to categorize themselves as separate entity... because of rabid Bronies.

I remember seeing thread on this forum about which fandom is worst fandom and I remember people mentioning anime fandom or Sonic fandom. There is no reason why Bronydom should suddenly be immune to same criticisms.

I think a little bit sense of humour wouldn't hurt. Don't take anything as a personal offense, life is too short to hold personal vendettas against strangers you barely know. So instead of seeing it as a us vs them mentality, I see it more like a chance to mess around.

I think its really a case by case basis. Parody humor and a playful jab at people is certainly welcome, I enjoy a good zinger like anyone with a sense of humor.

But there is difference between playful banter and humor and outright hate. I've seen stories about people who've had their car windows smashed in, people driven to suicide, harassed and bullied relentlessly, and called every name you can think of among other detestable things. THAT is unacceptable under any circumstance

One thing about this fandom most of us as fans can also laugh at ourselves all about liking a show of bright colored female horses with tattoos on their butt!   On the side,  we have a good sense of humor yet in all fandoms you will find haters due to this not being a "normal" thing by their understanding and some people will find ANY reason to use that as a reason for bulling or harassment to dumb blood reasons.

Now in any fandom we have our "super" fans which yes I have run into but as long as they keep some things in reasons there are no problems but you also have "super" fans in a lot of main fandoms (Twilight fan girls still scare the hell out of me and Harry Potter....) which will attack you  given how you might talk on the fandom they belong too.  (I'm looking at Super Twilight/HP fans  )

Criticism is necessary for something or someone to improve, when used correctly.

When it comes to mocking...be honest. This fandom contains its fair share of cringe. Cringe is delifghtfully mockable. Honestly, I laugh at most of the stereotypical descriptions of bronies because I really have encountered people like that at cons. I laugh at everything, no matter how rude or shocking some people might find it. I laugh at humor at my expense as well, as long as it's funny.

This is the Internet. Lighten up, and take nothing seriously. Unless you're out for drama and trolling, obviously.

Keep in mind: words are words are words; they only mean something if you ALLOW them to.

Plus, anything is up for comedy.  I happen to be a Southern Baptist - wanna know my favorite religious joke?

"So Jesus walks into an inn.  He hands the innkeeper two nails, and says 'hey, can you put me up for the night?'"  *rimshot*

When one views the world with humor, then one's beliefs can never truly be mocked.

I love making fun of the fandom myself! Just look at us, older males and some females, watching a show directed at 5 year old girls. We are a prime target and can't avoid mockery. I do agree that some people go overboard with the hate but general mockery is fun.

Nobody and nothing should be immune from criticism, however there is a rather significant difference between criticism and the incredibly immature "ew you like ponies, yer a fag lol" attitude that haters tend to have. There are certain parts of the brony fandom that annoy and piss me off, but that is fandoms for you they have some people that are nice and some that are jackasses.

Criticism is important in many different aspects. I don't have any issues with criticism at all. It just sucks that I know that if I choose to wear any shirt or something related to this show out in public, I know I am subjecting myself to mockery and hate from others. I like other cartoons that are not this show and I know for a fact if I wore something from another show that I would not worry about mockery or anything really.

It's unfortunate that even if you do like this show out of any fandom you will be subjecting yourself to much more mockery than to any other fandom I have seen.

Critic is okay and everything should get some critic. Critic is nothing more than someone elses Opinion on something and we should all have to right to tell ours.

Ive seen some so called " Anti-Bronies " and some of them are logical and actually nice. They critic says than we can enjoy the series but we shouldnt force the showto anyone. ( what some Bronys actually do ) Even on this Forum ive seen Topics like : " Why cant anti-bronies not give the show a chance ? " But who said they didnt, some people just doesnt want to watch a kids series and that should be respected. And others did watch the show and get angry at Bronies who just keep asking, if they cant give the show another try or they should watch a chosen episode who is better than everything else...that doesnt help. Some will say the show is crap in their opinion and i respect that.

But some Bronies just cant accept it and keep asking and so one. Anti-Bronies just are against the people who doesnt leave other people alone if they dont like it. And thats were the critic came from. Another problems are the trolls and spammer who literally post videos that mlp is better anything ( even if mostly of them arent bronies ) and anti-bronies are of course against that to.I mean they even give other antibronies critic if they also just randomly insult bronies.

For the most part, they just want to have peace. I can understand that. So, critic is okay, Yeah, they are some obnoxious Bronies and Spammers and they should get critic.

But getting mocked? ....the obnoxious bronies? Yes. The brony trolls ? Yeah, also yes. If they are mocking them, its okay with me

Mocking just every Bronie because of some bad ones? Thats not okay. Some bronies dont do anything to deserve hate so..thats not okay.

But then again, its the internet and most people just want to have fun and to annoy others. Bronies and antibronies and pretty much every other fandom. They are always these people who probably are just bored and writing whole comment wars on sites just to waste their time. You should just ignore them.

So in short, critic is okay. Mocking is only okay, when the bad bronies are getting mocked  Because the bad ones are also annoying others, so i think its just fair.
