Do you think there should be a male character centered episode?, one which only centered around and featured a male cast.

For example characters like:

Spike, Big Mac, Discord, Shining Armor, Doctor Whooves, Bulk Biceps ect.

It would be a good change from the usual female heavy cast and give the series alittle variety.

What's your opinion and views on this?

The show havent put the male characters in a very good light in my opinion, they can balance the episodes little on the background but I think the episodes should focus more on the Main 6 girls and not some male ponies.  They should stop making Spike episodes too  last  Spike episode was painful =( atleast include Rarity if you make them

It would be interesting to see... I'm not really sure who they'd get to star in it though. Most of the males haven't really been given much in the way of development, would they really be able to hold up an entire episode?

I agree with most of this. Spike episodes can be outright painful.

Sure but the only characters for that episode would be either Spike or Discord.

But isn't Dragon Quest centered on Spike?

Seeing as how this show has now had episodes centered around background characters, dragons, and Discord, an Episode 100-style one-off with a primarily male cast seems like an interesting idea, but at the same time, if "Dragon Quest" was any indication, the likelihood that this can backfire is strong.

Why does this thread sound like there hasn't already been male character centered episodes? Spike's had plenty of episodes, and even Make New Friends But Keep Discord was basically a Discord episode, since we follow him throughout most of the episode and he's the one who goes and learns a lesson.

I think he means male pony characters.

That being said, so long as the writing is good and it's not just a pointless episode, I say go for it. If it captures the fun and enjoyment of other episodes while happening to be about (a) male character(s) then I say it's all fair game.

Personally, I think they should just treat the male background characters the same way they do other background characters. An episode dedicated specifically to the male cast would just create an unnecessary gender divide.

EDIT: I would be happy to see the individual male characters get more screen time and character  development. I just don't agree with grouping them all together into their own separate group.

Its defeinitely something the show should look into. Having a male centered episode could add much depth to the show, instead of the stereotypical males we already see, eg Snips and Snails, the teenage dragons, and Diamond Dogs.

Given the writers' struggle with Spike alone though, it may be better for now to improve on Spike in his own episodes than to add needless Flash Sentries male characters and episodes. I'll take solace however, in the fact that Discord has evolved quite well, even if the rest of Equestria and the writers are still content to treat him like garbage.  :(  :umad:

Most shows are already male-centered, so I don't feel like they need to make one.

It wouldn't add diversity as much as checking a box. Having strong female leads helps set it apart from all the usual stuff. It brings diversity by being exactly what it is.

You think the writers treat Discord like garbage?

I don't really mind how the show is currently being executed, but it would be nice to see a male centered episode (or have a male pony be the main focus of an episode).

You think the writers treat Discord like garbage?

Absolutely.

This is particularly notable in Make New Friends, But Keep Discord, where Discord is supposed to already be truly reformed. While earlier hostilities shown by the characters may have been understandable, here its completely unwarranted. He's already established himself since Twilight's Kingdom as a friend and reformed, yet he's treated as a complete stranger and spurned by the Mane 6, including Twilight who had earlier reconciled and befriended him.

The writers lead the audience to believe that Discord's outburst was solely a fault on his part, even through Fluttershy initially acknowledges she was wrong, and none of Discord's alleged allies extended him an olive branch to help him. Indeed even Celestia, Discord's presumed date according to Fluttershy, stood by and laughed. This is not any lesson of friendship, but of neglect and abuse. Fluttershy and the others should have apologized to Discord just as much as he did to them.

Its hardly surprising why so many insist on more male focus in the show. The main male characters are either nonexistant or aren't given proper respect. Spike is treated as a joke and can never get over himself. Big Mac is limited to one liners. And Discord is still treated as a perpetual villain, even though he's been shown to be fully reformed. A little bit of equality in Equestria would go a long way.
