What is the name of the city Equestria Girls takes place in?

I was just wondering what the name of the city Equestria Girls takes place in is called. I mean in the shorts, you see them in a city aside from Canterlot High, but what's it called? I assumed it's called Equestria City, since Canterlot High is based off Canterlot, which is a kingdom in Equestria, which is why it would make sense for Canterlot High to be a school in Equestria City. That's just my theory though. What do you guys think? What are your theories for some possible names for the city in the Equestria Girls movies? Is it Equestria City like me? Or do you have your own possible name for it?

It is Canterlot High. Usually public schools are named after the City or township they are located in. So i would assume the town is Canterlot.

Well it confuses me bacuse if canterlot high is in canterlot then when pinkie says to twilight "dont you have a twin in the city" which city is she refering to .. Obviously not the one there in and at the end of rainbow rocks human twilight is revealedas if its was like before the first episode she never got sent to pony ville and stayed into canterlot yet human twilight can't be in canterlot if the school is there ... I might be over thinking this but I just don't get it

Unless human twilight was in another city like Manhattan but why would she be there?

Hmmm... Well apparently she had to have been somewhere in "Equestria City" if she knew about Canterlot High... Maybe she lives in the downtown part of the city or something.

Not officially stated, but since many public schools, like CHS, are named after the city where they are located, it's likely the city's name is Canterlot. Of not, I'm pretty sure it's named after a horse pun, much like practically everything else in MLP  :dash:

Yeah, probably. Equestria City could also work though.

Depends on if you want to start adding IRL equivalent elements like non-census and census designated areas, neighborhood sections, independent cities as both your own domain and part of a larger micropolitan or metropolitan area. I grew up in Philly for example ... and there is a town called Levittown that is considered to be part of the Philly 'burbs' but is in another county (Bucks) and is technically an CDP. 

 

 

 

Levittown is a census-designated place (CDP) and planned community in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, United States, within the Philadelphia metropolitan area. The population was 52,983 at the 2010 census.[2] It is 40 feet (12 m) above sea level. Though not a municipality, it is sometimes recognized as the largest suburb of Philadelphia in Pennsylvania[3] (while Upper Darby Township, Lower Merion Township, Bensalem Township, Abington Township and Bristol Township are municipalities larger in size in the three surrounding Pennsylvania counties). 

 

So what does this mean? Technically Canterlot High could be in a town called Canterlot ... or a 'Ponyville' that is part of a larger Canterlot metro area.
