Did anyone else watch Pinkie Pride and not enjoy it nearly as much as 95% of bronies? All I ever see are great things about this episode. Great guest star. Great moral. Great jokes. Great Pinkie Pie Characterization. Great Songs. Etc.

I on the other hand disliked this episode. I can literally count how many episodes I disliked on one hand. There are certainly some meh episodes, but they were mostly still enjoyable. I liked Princess Spike more than Pinkie Pride, but maybe that was because Cadence (best princess) was in it. I rarely truly dislike an episode of this show. So you can imagine my suprise when one of my arguably least favorite episodes was loved by so many.

I think it was a combination of high expectations, hype, my least favorite pony (at the time at least), and over all ridiculouses of the episode. I saw NOTHING but good things about this episode before I watched it. So I watched it expecting to be wowed like the 1969 lunar landing, and I was dissapointed.

Pinkie Pie was even more nonsensical in this episode. The guest VA was like a rule 63 Pinkie (and not the good kind). I dont even remember the moral. The jokes weren't clever, they were childish slapstick. Pinkie's Friends abandoned her first chance, and RD had the nerve to tell Pinkie to her face she wasnt good enough. I had MMC déjà vu with all those songs, Pinkie's eye swirl realization was definately the weakest (oh no RD's not laughing at our cringeworthy competition, noooo). Cheese Sandwich gave up his most cherished possesion like he was lending Pinkie a 1$ to buy gum at the check-out. Do I need to say more?

Why do people like this episode? Do you like Pinkie Pride? Tell me what you think in the comm... Oh wait not Youtube. Put a post below about what you thought of Pinkie Pride, whether you liked it, disliked it, or it was meh, as well as what you thought of my points if you are so inclined.

I didn't care for it much either. I can't say I hated it, but I wasn't engaged by it at all. I had to watch it in 3 sittings because I thought it was boring, which was unfortunate, because I genuinely like both Pinkie Pie and Weird Al. I try to enter each episode with a positive attitude, but this one in particular I was really excited about. Growing up in the 90s, Weird Al was a staple around my house. I practically lived off his humor. I think that was part of the let down; my excitement made the episode itself mediocre in my mind.

"Pinkie Pride Hater's Club."

Something tells I've wandered to the wrong side of the internet seeing as there's a hate club for my favorite episode of the show.

And something tells me I'm truly on the internet since I see hate clubs for stuff like this.

While you are on this side of the internet. Would you care to share why you thought the episode was so good? I may dislike the episode, but I am not close-minded by any stretch. Edited by AppleJack_Wack

Granted, I'm kind of gushing in this one but I still feel I bring up some good points.

Well I liked it. What I find most admirable about the episode in particular is the moral. No matter how good you are at your talents, there's always somebody who is better at it, but it's no excuse to hate on that talented person. Instead, you should embrace their talent and even learn what they do. This is relatable to many people, but especially artists. I relate to Pinkie's struggle as a result, because the artist community is very large and full of competition.

There are also many things that I like, namely the animation, the pacing, the songs and Cheese Sandwich. If you dislike it, then that's alright too. But making an anti-Pinkie Pride club? I think that's going a little too far. :S

It was really more of just a funny thread title. If I was serious I would have tried to get this guy in the club section of Sugarcube Corner. Edited by AppleJack_Wack

I don't hate it but in comparison to most of the fandom I don't really praise it either. It occupies the same space Amending Fences does, at least for me, its a good episode but one that is really hyped up by the fandom and one I don't give as much high regard to.

I really enjoyed Pinkie Pride, one of my favorite season 4 episodes. I'm not much of a Werid Al fan, but Pinkie is my favorite character, and what really struck me about this episode was how well we transitioned between musical numbers and dialouge, keeping the pacing fast, while giving the audience enough information to emote and give a shit as to what was happening in the episode. I feel like Pinkie Pride was handled much better than MMC, from a technical writing perspective anyways. In MMC we where thrown in a nonsensicle direction (From the perspective this show usually has to offer), and not really given time to care about what was happening. Whether or not you like MMC usually comes down to how much you liked the songs, rather than the story being told, and I feel like Pinkie Pride did a much better job at handeling this sort of structure. The plot is simple and easy to follow, and doesn't need more time to be fleshed out and exposeted upon, which was MMC's biggest short coming for sure.

Pinkies entire life is predicated on the happiness of others, and to see somebody come in and do her passion as she percived as better (When in reality it was simply different) was a really smart move on the writers part. Every single artist has gone through what Pinkie experienced, and have had to learn that same lesson at some point in their careers. That really resonated with me becuase I'm a musican, and I know the feeling when somebody comes along and does everything better than you can. It's completely soul crushing ,and makes you feel like all your hard work and time was for nothing. Realizing that everybody is different, and that one persons way of doing things is not nessisarily better or worse, but simply different is a fantastic moral.

The RD line never bothered me, when somebody comes into town and offers a new way of doing something you've done a million times before, and he's clearly a charming, likeable person, it's easy to get swept up in the moment and say things you don't really mean.

I love how we expounded on Cheese Sandwichs character in the third act, fleshing out his backstory to give his presence and the resolution to our conflict more of a meaning.

Visual gags resonated with me, I didn't feel like this episode was too ridiculous, my expectation was already there knowing previous announcments, and obviously I expect a Pinkie Pie episode to be a bit zanier than usual. Actually in general my expectations for this show don't really exceed "Fun and Cute", so as long as this is acheived, I have a hard time disliking an episode.

I am heavily biased of course, bias is inherent, based on the fact that I love Pinkie, I love musicals, and I love that sort of zany random humor.

I didn't care for it either. It struck me as alot of "LOLRANDUMB" humor, without much substance. I also found cheese sandwhich incredibly one note and boring, which his schtick being basically "look, its pinkie but BETTER!"

The only part I enjoyed was the song sequence of pinkie trying to find something else to do in life, as it was rather touching to see how it could affect someone to think they had lost the one thing in life that made them special. However, past that song and sequence, it just wasn't that good. Not BAD, but average.

Honestly, it totally could of been better. I think this episode was more aimed at the kiddos, not us bronys. For example, Pinkie Pride vs Slice of Life, I think Slice of Life was aimed towards bronys. So, nah, I wasn't the biggest fan, but I think the episode was ok.
