Sunset shimmer...the destined martyr?

Ok woah...woah...

Before all her fanboys jump my flank allow me a moment to explain.

As an Author, their is nothing I be love more then the tragic anti hero troupe. In modern media...sigh, and my fiction lol, a great example is Dinobot from the tv show beast wars.

So way is a TAH?

Most common is a for or villain type who partially reforms, but keeps there edge. The is forced be their own pride, ego, or a developed relationship with a main line hero, or hero's, to sacrifice themselves.

Now EQ3 won't have death, but perhaps a defeat for our rapidly rising sunset.

Any pony else get this feeling, come friendship games.

Ummm...i dont think they go that far and actually like deleting a role or let someone of the good guys get beaten up.

I mean its still a show which is watched by kids and i guess they would be really upset if someone of the good guys gets defeated.

Maybe Sunset would stand up to some very powerful enemy attack to protect the main 6 and show them that she is really a good person now.

But she would be fine at the end. I dont think they would do anything to extreme.

If Sunset Shimmer is in this movie to be pushed aside, never to be seen again in the movies or the show, i can imagine that alot of bronies will be very upset about that decision, because Sunset has become quite a fan favorite in this fandom, so much so, that few actually demand her to take Twilights place in the actual show.

So no, this won't happen.

Ehhh... not really. You see, Sunny already had her "defeat" in the first Equestria Girls, and in Rainbow Rocks, she went through absolute torture, although it was justified given her actions in the prequel. She finally had her big moment when she pulled through for the Rainbooms by joining them in their song, and was able to help defeat the Dazzlings, earned a spot in the band, and finally felt like she had genuine friendships, but she still has a long way to go before she's truly "redeemed" and no longer feels insecure or out of place. Rainbow Rocks did a good job grooming Sunset Shimmer as something of a new main protagonist, what with Friendship Games now showcasing her in what looks like the lead role, with no Equestrian Twilight to be found (presumably). With three major roles under her belt already, it would seem like a waste of time and development to have her make a major sacrifice that would cause her to be written out of the series. On the contrary, I think she's only going to become more prominent, and eventually make way to the Friendship is Magic series, if the hints at San Diego Comic Con are anything to go by.

But I do agree with you in that she is something of a tragic hero, or anti-hero type of character, and with that, she will probably have to go through plenty more suffering, and that could include some kind of sacrifice as you mentioned, just not one that would jeopardize her future as a lead character in Equestria Girls. I certainly hope not. I believe I speak for most when I say that she's been the highlight of the entire EG series, and it just wouldn't be nearly as worthwhile without her. I think there's too many interesting stories to be told and directions to be taken with this character. So nay, the forecast for Sunset's future is mostly sunny with a slight chance of some rainstorms here and there. :adorkable:

Hmmm perhaps I gave the wrong impression.

I don't mean her death or even playing a second fiddle to the human twilight.

I was referring to perhaps something more along the lines ofgsaining the chance to go home only to give it up to protect her friends.

Oh, okay that's of course completly different.
