Would you paint a real pony to look like an MLP pony?

Of course, this is assuming the paint was washable and not harmful in any way. I'm not sure if any horse owner has ever tried this. If you could get the right pigments, some fake horns or wings, some garments and accessories (if applicable) and some custom-made stencils to color in a cutie mark, would you attempt this?

And which MLP pony would you make it look like?

Oh, and here's something for all you would-be animal rights activists.

Take a minute to watch this vid. What is so "cruel" or "unethical" about this?

As you see, if the paint is applied gently and it's not toxic, horses do not CARE. In fact, this has been celebrated in many cultures for ages. It's insulting for you to think there's some moral debate to be had here. If I see anyone else try to turn this thread into one, your post will be considered spam and get marked.

If it wasn't harmful, I don't see why not. It might even be a pretty cool thing to do at a rodeo or something. Although I suppose the biggest problem would be making them look not totally creepy. Cartoon horses are cute and real horses are lovely but real horses dressed up like cartoon horses seem like they would have a high chance of looking pretty repulsive.

I think chances of that are pretty slim.

This picture right here shows that this would be an awesome idea. The cuteness factor is not lost on this one. Even if it is an edit. :P A pink pony would be adorable. *-* If there was an easily removable harmless way of doing this, there should be a cool contest or something for this. :3

That looks so much better than I ever imagined. Forgive my previous doubts. At this point the only thing I'd be worried about is how comfortable for a horse a costume like that would be. I'm no expert but I think that'd be fine.

I dont see any reason why i would ever want to do such a thing

I mean i have no pony or horse and no paint and no experience in coloring animals and more importantly, why would i do that?  :ooh:

Just to have a pony colored like in the show..for one day...because..reasons?

First of it would took really long to color a horse completely and i dont think they would like that so much.

And then you have to wash the color all out again.

I guess its easier to photoshop a real life pony. Even though i would be still not interested since the My Little Ponys dont even look like real ones in the slightest. ( well maybe a little ) So a real life pony coloring wouldnt look that good anyway. I think. I guess.

I mean yeah, that one Fluttershy picture over there looks kind off cute, but i would never come to the idea to color a real pony

For fun. People cosplay all the time, so why not animals?

But if the ponies from the show were real, this would also be the only alternative to having them in your house and being called a slave owner. Nobody would object to you having a pastel painted pony that they deem inferior.

I'm not sure if the ponies would dislike being painted though. There's no reason for them to care what color they are, and if anything, the process would just feel like you're petting them.

I probably wouldn't because it would be too much effort. Also, washing out the color would be a nightmare, especially on lighter-colored horses/ponies. At a horse camp I worked at, we decorated the horses with non-toxic paint and the color stained into their fur. It took several washes to get it completely out. I appreciate the patience others have to do it!

I would not, because I'd be too worried about hurting the horse in some way. I don't know much about RL ponies/horses, but even if dye and stuff isn't harmful they might not like having their coats/manes/tails messed about with, having stuff stuck on them, etc. I know some people do that with their pets, but I wouldn't do it with my dog either. I'd also probably completely mess it up since I can barely make myself look nice when I try, let alone a horse

The Flutterpony edit looks cute though! But I'd say photoshop is fine for that, no need to get real animals involved :kindness:

Horses don't mind being painted, so long as it's non-toxic. Often, they simply fall asleep while you do it lol. What could bother them, though, is adding accessories. Well-trained horses could tolerate costumes and such, but I don't think it's fair to keep that stuff on for long.
