Is there such term as a "Professional Brony"?

The term Professional Brony suggests that being a brony would be ones profession, Brony on a professional level so it wouldn't be a hobby anymore, maybe more like their job. Being Brony as a job, what would they do ? To answer that we need to delve in what being brony is all about.

I think term Brony means fan of MLP series to be more precise the G4 MLP FiM series is their main interest  following the show and doing all the thisngs happening around it  would be what they do, so being a professional Brony it would be your job and profession to follow the show and  what is going on  around it.

maybe the Hasbro could hire a "Professional Brony" to be on their PR team and interact with the fandom?

Of course! That would be someone who works to make mlp. It's literally their job. :P

Not necessarily... A brony/pegasister, is a fan of the show. More often than not, people that work on shows aren't typically fans of the show.

I would say in the truest sense of the phrase "professional brony" it would be a fan that makes money by selling their services to other fans.

Like for example, I'd say some fan artists and musicians are professionals. The people that run the forums, neigh, the ponyverse, would be professionals. Convention organizers as well.

I would actually love to see that happen ooBrony. Us bronies may even develop an even closer relationship with Hasbro, therefore leaving more references and secrets in future episodes like they did with episode 100. I don't much about what happens behind the scenes but that's just a thought aha.

And yea I think that some of the forum's staff could be classed as "Professional Bronies"...or "Professional Pegasisters" xD

Hmm.  I've made a couple sales of my pony art on Redbubble.  Can I call myself a professional brony?  That'd be cool.

With a couple of exceptions (Fimfiction and Equestria Daily, most notably), our community's fan sites and conventions are driven entirely by volunteers. This applies to Poniverse - there is no payroll here.

:) That's pretty cool! :proud:

  Let me clarify then, :maud: I would definitely say that you and your staff, are still professionals- and while you don't get paid in the sense I was originally intending, you still do contribute (significantly, I might add) to the fandom in a major way, and money does have to flow via donations and such for site upkeep and tools that need to be maintained.

Wouldn't Brony reviewers count as professional Bronies? I think quite a few of them make a living off of watching episodes and/or consuming the spinoff media and getting on camera to talk about it, and/or creating vids that analyze various aspects of the series.

Well yea I guess actually, because they are normally the ones that are caught up in the fandom the most and/or have had a special contribution to the fandom as well...

I wouldn't say so, personally. If a brony artist makes professional art and sells it, I think it'd be much more fitting to call them a professional artist. Same for a writer, musician, reviewer, and so on. That, and I don't think there's a skill level involved in watching a TV show :P

Given that the term 'Brony' merely entails being a member of a fandom, it's not really something you can be a professional of. You don't get paid for being a fan of something, after all.

Agreed. They could be called a professional brony musician etc, but that'd just mean that they focus on MLP related items.

Alternatively, a professional brony could be anyone who is a professional at anything, and also happens to be a brony.

Depends how you define it, really.

  • 2 weeks later...

nope... how can one be a professional at being a fan?... cause you got the fans and then you got the fanatics... there are also those who make money from the stuff but that's not really professional either... really the only professionals are the ones who work for Hasbro... or at least that's how I see it...

I would say a professional Brony would be someone of these guys, who knows exactly what happened in every episode, they are constantly up to date to the news and you can ask them anything about every G4 Media and they can give you opinions, infos and tell you where to get the episodes.

I wouldnt consider the staff at Hasbro as Bronys, because only because someone is for example an animator for the series, doesnt have to mean he enjoys watching it...i mean, maybe some of the workers there dont even like mlp that much than bronies. Maybe their just working on it because they get paid too.

So by staff members you can never be sure. And only because they worked on some things doesnt mean they know all things because maybe some of them arent as interested in Mlp as others.

For me an professional Brony is someone i can go to, if i have questions. And this person would be able to tell me everything about the show and its related media.
