I was really confused when I saw how fast she turned into a Princess/Alicorn.

Too fast in my opinion. So i decided to ask some others and they replied it was fast but it has not much effect on the story. I'm still watching it. In other words I didn't finish the 4th season. Am I the only one who is that confused and worried about it? :0 So what do you think about it?

No. It was pretty great, plus it means I have another plush with wings. And it's funny to see people argue about how she's a mary sue now.

I think it was a bit premature.  From what I understand the program was due to be cancelled at the end of the third series.  Twilight's transformation would have been a logical conclusion to the entire run.  But then a fourth series was given the green light and the writers had to refocus on Twilight coming to terms with her transformation and what it meant to her, and how it affected her role in the world.

 

The exploration of her new role makes for plenty of interesting story opportunities, but I feel it would have better left towards the end of the run.  But of course, the writers don't know when the end of the run will be, so they were kind of rushed into doing it.

Really, who cares at this point? It made no change whatsoever and was mostly a pointless story element in order to sell more toys.

Don't you had that feeling that Magical Mystery Cure fell like the finale? Not season finale, but the series' whole finale? Because that episode was intended to be the series's finale at first, due to the average cartoon going to 65 episodes due to sindication or something. Twi's ascention would have made sense for it. But since Hasbro gave green light to continue the series further, they left it as that, as I guess changing the long term plans would cost them much more time and money if they postponed Twilicorn

@Steve Piranha you cleared everything up for me. And yes, it felt like the end and thats why I am that confused. Now everything make sense and that Twilight is now an Alicorn didn't make much effect on the connection between her and her friends. So this thread was one of the useless one. Sorry everypony.

I really like the idea, but I don't like what role they decided to put her as a Princess of Equestria. Princess of Friendship is kinda... meh. IMO the Princess of Magic or something similar would've been far more interesting.

I always seem to like the things the rest of fandom doesn't (e.g. EQG, Alicorn Twilight), and was pretty suprised when I saw that a lot of the fandom was up and arms over it at the time. It seems that it's more accepted now though.

 

So yeah, I loved it. One of my favorite moments, but it could have been a better showcase episode. It felt VERY rushed.

I've never actually had a problem with Twilight being an alicorn, but I suppose that could be because I didn't become a brony until after season 4 and I didn't see all the episodes in order. I will admit I personally don't find Magical Mystery Cure to be very good as an episode. I think it could have been a lot better as a two parter. Overall though, I think Twilight being a princess now really helps with the progression of the show and allows for a lot more story opportunities. I'm glad the creaters made Twilight an alicorn.

For some reason, I saw it coming since I saw Twilight and Celestia's type of friendship. First of all, it makes no sense to me, and I hate Twilight so I was like this:

 

 

 

But then I got over it because it is just a show.

 

When Season 4 started, at the first episode, I realised Twilight DID deserved being a princess. Why? Think about it. What do ALL princesses in Equestria have in common? They do NOTHING to protect their land, and send poor little ponies to solve their issues. What did Twilight do in the first episode? When AJ said "you stay here, Equestria needs a princess" and she was like "okay".So I clapped at Twilight for being great at being a princess. 

 

But that is just my opinion.

I guess she's too young to have royal duties. But now she's immortal. That means she will live on while her friends pass away by old age.

It bugged me at the time. I thought (hoped) the buzz about "alicorn Twilight" in early '13  was just a silly rumor, and then the show actually did it.

 

I guess it still bugs me two years later, for the same reasons it did then. Too fast, didn't make sense, doesn't fit Twilight's character, and I didn't enjoy the episode itself. Did it hurt the show? No, I don't think so. It would be more accurate to say that it changed the way I feel about the show.

One question though: I don't know much about this but, Do you guys think her ascension actually SAVED the show? i.e. Selling more toys or boosting ratings for Hasbro to give the green light for more seasons?
