Probably the lost treasure of griffonstone, though that's probably more a personal reason. But it really feels the most "satisfying" of an episode, in purpose and execution. the premier was done well

the premier was done well, but I honestly couldn't give a CRAP about another nega-twilight (we already had Sunset shimmer for an evil opposite of twilight, and we also had *Trixie* for a rival. We don't need to keep getting more).

Episodes like Party pooped or tanks for the memories were nice, but didn't feel like they advanced the world or characters much.


But TLTOG? it was a great episode, had some excellent world building, advanced Dash, pinkie and Gilda, plus tied into a decent meta plot with showing that the map has some purpose in the world aside from just random brainwashing villains. As such, even though I have to admit that its ending was sacharine to the extreme and I should legitimately rank it lower, its by far my favorite episode of the season.

Personally the last 3 episodes we got of the first half are my favorites of this season so far.

So I would say that:

Amending Fences

Party Pooped

Do Princesses Dream of Magical Sheep 

are my favorites in that order.

Amending Fences is my favorite overall. I loved how it was done and how it was full of emotional moments without being annoying. Moon Dancer is definitely a favorite of mine, while Minuette, Twinkleshine, and Lemon Hearts all turned out as likeable ponies. It easily held my attention for the entire episode and the library scene where Twilight kept bugging Moon Dancer is easily in my top 5 moments of the whole show.

It easily held my attention for the entire episode and the library scene where Twilight kept bugging Moon Dancer is easily in my top 5 moments of the whole show.

I really liked that episode as well!

I loved Amending Fences! I liked how it went back to an issue that I felt needed to be addressed yet I wasn't expecting to be done. I heard that the episode almost didn't get approval from the head producers because of continuity issues, but I'm glad that M A Larson was able to pull it off.

I would say my favorite episodes are Amending fences (so much emotion and flashbacks), Do princesses dream of magical sheep (great story) and Make new friends but keep Discord (because of Discord).

Slice of Life for leaving me rolling on the floor-- I had been stoked to see the Big Lebowski reference in a prior episode, and was delighted when they showed the Dude again.  Bonus points that the Dude's cutie mark was the rug. I love the animators' attention to detail.  I loved the episode so much I got my husband to watch it-- he's not a brony, but he enjoyed it.

It's hard to pick because this Season has a nearly perfect lineup so far, buuuuut.... The lost treasure of Griffonstone, Amending fences and Slice of life. Slice of life was hilarious and an amazing love letter to the fandom. The lost treasure of Griffonstone had a lot of great world building and it was heartwarming to boot. Amending fences was pure magic and it really hit home with the feels. I also really loved the premiere , Do Princesses dream of magic sheep? and tanks for the memories.

I liked that Tanks for the memories showed a softer side of RD and how difficult it is to let go of someone we love (even if its just temporary) and I loved loved loved the Luna episode because there are not nearly enough ones with her in it for one. And two, it showed how detrimental it can be for your mind to dwell on the past and that we need to forgive ourselves for our mistakes. Every episode this season has been amazing. But these two stand out the most to me.

I think my favorite overall season 5 episode is either slice of life or do princesses dream of magic sheep. Slice of life has a ton of elements of the fandom and do princesses dream of magic sheep has a lot of cute moments! I just can't decide!  :(

So far, I think this has been a really strong season overall.  Up to this point my top three favorites have been:

 

Slice of Life  -  (Background ponies are awesome)

Do Princesses Dream of Magic Sheep?  -  (Luna is awesome)

Amending Fences  -  (Moondancer is awesome)

 

After that would be The Lost Treasure of Griffonstone, just because I like how well that story was told, but I'm really excited for the second half of the season.  Based on the upcoming episode titles, I'm expecting the next couple of episodes to become instant favorites of mine as well.
