Back in August of last year we launched a contest, open to all Forum members, with the sole purpose of creating a what would be the MLP Forums mascot. The winner, @Shift, gave us Buffy. Her grand unveiling was met with overwhelming approval from the community. While she has been seen from time to time on MLP Forums, there was always one missing element to her design. Buffy is a ... *gasp* ... blank flank.

Go away you two!


We aim to rectify this horrible travesty. No MLPF Mascot should be deprived the symbolic depiction of her special talent! This is a call to all artists and designers out there. Today we stand as one community, united, and with one voice crying out ... give Buffy her mark! The winning design will forever be used with future depictions of Buffy - including MLP Forums promotional material and art. Not only will you have a chance to leave your mark (ha) on the community ... the winning artist will be the proud owner of a one-of-a-kind custom plushie! (see below).




Buffy Cutie Mark Contest Rules

  • This is an art/design contest open to all members of all skill levels.
  • There is no theme, however we suggest you read the two recent winning fics in the next section that highlight Buffy's personality and traits to get some inspiration. (see below)
  • This design needs to be forum safe (no NSFW content)
  • Multiple entries will be allowed (up to three).
  • Contest closes Sunday Oct 4th at 11:59 PM EST
  • Judging will begin immediately and will involve MLPF staff.
  • Non US members are eligible to receive the prize as we will ship internationally
  • Include an explanation of why you went with the cutie mark you designed.
  • There are no resolution and format requirements

HUG ME I'M CYOOT!

Buffy: MLP Forums' mascot, Buffy is an absolute bundle of fun. She was based off of Shift, who designed her. So she will sometimes speak in CAPS LIKE THIS. Kind, adoring, would do anything for a friend. She's not really a voice of wisdom by any means, but she still gives her opinion anyway. She's a blabbermouth, and loves to chat (since, you know, forums and all!). She's a huge fan of watching shows and getting into heavy (but friendly) debates about them with the ponies around town. On a sadder note, she tends to feel lonely quite often, which is a big reason why she makes her voice so loud. She wants to be heard, to feel important and noticed.

Win a Custom Buffy Plushie!

As this is a long anticipated event we decided to go all out with the prize on this one. The winning cutie mark design will be the proud owner of one of the most unique items we have ever offered - A custom Buffy Pony plush! @Nervous Stitch, a phenomenal custom plush maker and member of MLP Forum staff, has volunteered to donate her time and materials to create Buffy for the winner of this contest. The best part of this is ... the plushie will feature YOUR DESIGN! :D

A note about the plushie: completion will depend on Stitch's current clients and whether the member is international as I will be covering international shipping. That said, she has stated that she blocked out some time for its completion.

Is there a recommended resolution? I was going to use 2000x2000.

 

2000x2000 works. Realisically we have already planned to have an artist ready to redraw the cutie mark since we opened the contest to all talent levels.

 

That means that image extension and resolution aren't hard and fast rules.

Digital or traditional are allowed. As long as you can scan the image

Good luck everypony! I actually designed one a while ago when I first 'met' Buffy, I wonder if I can find the sketches and attached explanations :s
