I have never had anyone react to me buying MLP stuff in a way that was funny or embarassing.

...It's only awkward if you make it awkward.

When I was like 19 and shopping with mom the cashier teased and asked if I secret obsession with MLP.

We both exchanged that look that said "define secret" because I'm obscenely shameless about my fandoms and she knows it.

When I was at BronyCon walking from the Hotel to convention center with my Russian gear on and a few of the pony badges I'd bought the previous day, I stopped to wait for the crosswalk to turn and I could hear the people behind me speculating if I was a Brony or not.

Once I was shopping for ponies at Target with my friend and a group of guys walked passed me and said "F*cking bronies..." I thought nothing of it, but my friend was really mad. I told him to calm down and forget about it.

not sure which reaction was funniest the cashier looking at the two and me or passing everyone home. even had a car slow down then speed back up

Nobody's ever reacted to me buying merchandise (possibly because I'm a girl so it doesn't seem as strange). I'm always half-hoping somebody will, though. Maybe I should buy merchandise more often. I bet I'd get some interesting reactions if I bought that Canterlot Castle toy at Target, but I can't afford that.

I had one where I was playing in a mtg tournament to win byes for a Grand Prix. I am there for fun because it's my favorite format but there are a few people who are there to actually play for byes. Me being me I have sleeved up my deck in twilight sparkle sleeves and my round 2 opponent is one of these guys playing for the byes

These guys treat magic like its more than just a game and he sits down all serious doesn't make pleasenties. I sit down as well and we shuffle up and play. He's playing one of my bad matchups. I get throroughly get stomped game 1 as usual. I start sideboardimg and we haven't said anything. I stomp him game two. Game 3 is where the reaction comes.

His deck is very fast but mine is capable of keeping up. It's a very close game but I manage to blow him out during a critical turn and start closing the game. I then play one of the saltiest hate cards his deck could ever see. He puts his head in his hands like how is he losing to this and he says to me how he is losing to a brony and why I am playing such garbage cards and I am getting lucky. I just finish the game and we sign the match slip.

I suffer from agoraphobia, and it helps me to carry a Plushie with me.  What with the T-shirts and the MLP dog-collar bracelets and the plushie on the table in restaurants, I get some odd looks.  But the best one was when I was getting ready to leave a restaurant once, and a waitress who couldn't seem to take her eyes off the Pinkie Pie plushie on the table - asked me "if I wanted a bag for that?" I picked up the plushie, started gnawing on her mane and said, "That's OK, I'll just eat it here."

She blushed and fled.

  • 2 weeks later...

It had to happen someday for my birthday last month i had my close friends come over only one knew about it prior but we were both bordering on drunk that night, anyway the first person to show up i hadn't seen in almost over a year, he read the warning sticker on my door "Caution: Ponies. Ponies may cause extreme liking for/or aggressive behavior towards everything related to ponies. Continue at your own risk" He simply looked at me and said...

"You're a brony huh?"

"Yeah..."

He opened the door flicked on the light and saw my (at the time) 18 Vinyl figures and my 3 most exposed posters, Celestia 'OBEY' Luna 'BIDE' and my biggest on saying "I Am BrONY", he looked at me and walked out. He was a good person and we had a laugh about it and he pretty much left it at, "you're into what your into what ev's" none of my friends really commented either when they turned up.
