What is Your Least Favorite Final Boss in a Video Game?

One-Punch Man

Recommended Posts

The title speaks for itself, just post your least favorite final boss in any video game.

I'll start!

Bowser as the final boss in Super Mario Galaxy 2 was expected, but I thought it would be more creative than what it was. It was the SAME kind of Bowser fight given to you through out the game; the only difference being, he comes back one more time when you are getting ready to get the last grand star, and then you have to ground pound a few more cosmic meteors into his face. I felt like that was really bland and repetitive...especially after the spectacular level leading up to the fight.

Super Mario Galaxy 2 is still one of my favorite games, though. c:

ES4 Oblivion and Fallout 3. Oblivion barely has one. There was the evil wizard guy but he was pretty much just a normal guy, no harder to kill than any other dude on the street. Mehrunes Dagon? Nope, someone else gets to turn into a dragon to fight satan and you get to watch.

Fallout 3. The final boss is just some bloke. He doesn't wear armor. He has a hand gun. You have a BFG9000. You shoot him and he dies.

The final boss in Rampage: Total Destruction is pretty disappointing. 3 hits and the blimp goes down. The challenge is just getting up the damn building while it shoots at you and drops bombs constantly. Not to mention,Dr. Vector repeats himself so much.

"I created you,you ungrateful beast!"

"You're no match for me,you overgrown lubix."

"This is a funny way of showing your gratitude."

Imagine hearing the same three lines over and over again. And the fact that they give you this tall ass skyscraper to climb, but you can't destroy it,is the ultimate insult.

Star Fox Adventures. Yeah I'm going to say it, that game was among my favorites on the gamecube. I wasn't blown away by the original Star Fox 64 but was enraptured by Adventures.

To know that I got cheated out of a boss battle with GENERAL SCALES! Who was the legitimately threatening bad guy that I actually gave a damn about and wanted to defeat is such a waste. I didn't think this at the time, it's more a hind sight thing. This isn't to say the actual final boss wasn't shocking, scary, or fun just that, upon reflection, I would have liked to keep General Scales as that game's only true antagonist. Again, I really like the combat of Adventures and a one on one boss fight, mammal vs. reptile, staff vs. sword, good against evil is exactly the kind of ending I ADORE to play, instead I got seated in an arwing.

Gwynn from Dark Souls. If you learned to parry, you'd win ezpz.

I was looking forward to an actually properly challenging boss at the end, because the rest of the entire game was just abusing invincibility frames, which is easy. Instead, I was disappointed by an even easier boss battle that just takes a few easy parries to bring him to his knees.

Runner up would be Dierker from The Saboteur, boy my selection is obscure ain't it?  ^_^ Now, while I have to admit the ending is very chilling and kind of appropriate considering Dierker is probably one of the most faithfully depicted Nazi characters at their most inhuman without tipping over into Wolfenstein territory, it's still kind of disappointing that all it takes to finish him is one bullet and if you stall too long he does the job for you and willfully falls back to his death.

This is in the same game that has the Nazis be equipped with their wunderwaffen at the troop level in the form of bullet proof armor and man portable heavy machine guns, you telling me that Dierker, who's implied to be a good ways up the chain of command and paragon of "aryan supremacy", couldn't get some of that for himself?

Easy. The sentinel from borderlands the pre sequel

sig-4125213.maxresdefault.jpg

I stayed up till 2 am with a friend to beat this guy. The battle was amazing, accompanied with beautiful animations. I remember Staying up late, emptying the health bar and taking a moment to kick back and relax, just as i thought the  battle was over, only for it to come back to life in yet another combat phase, which left me scrambling back to my computer in an attempt to avoid the incoming attacks.

Playing with a friend only made the battle better, as we watched each other's backs to accomplish a single, united goal.

In addition, we were kinnndaaa underleveled, which made the battle all the more intense imo.

EDIT: misread the title i thought it was favourite final boss lol.. Worst final boss easily is Alduin from skyrim: got 3 dudes tanking for you no skill required

Man, same me, that's the first fight that comes to mind regarding with awful final bosses. Unlike you though, I was disliking SMG2, with that lame battle being the last straw  >_>

It's a little known fact that in the original Pac-Man arcade machine, if you enter the konami code, spin like a pretty princess, and shout, "Pac-Man is bae!", the ghost merge together and become a giant, maze eating superghost that Pac-Man must defeat, Attack on Titan style.

But seriously, I don't really have a least favorite video game final boss. Most games I play don't have a final boss (Mario Kart), and the rest are too tough for me to even get to the final boss(Castlevania: Aria of Sorrows).

Hmm...let's see...

- The Icon of Sin from Doom 2. As said before, it's...well, just a wall that spawns monsters. Not exactly as exciting as cybernetic spider with minigun or towering cybernetic monstrosity with rocket launcher.

- Cortex from Crash Bandicoot 2. He is really easy, and he doesn't even have any attacks! You can't lose in the "fight" unless he makes it to the end and escapes.

- The last ancient from Shadow Warrior 2013. He's not a particularily interesting fight, especially for a final boss. I found the flying ancient a lot more difficult. Also, it's not very satisfying either, considering he's just a puppeted/controlled body, while the main antagonist just gets stabbed in a cutscene after the fight.

- Alduin from Skyrim. With my archer, I just stood behind, shot at him and the other characters that followed me around did all the work. I had a harder time killing a normal dragon than him. :X

Super Dimentio in Super Paper Mario.

All he does is fire bullets and try to jump on you.

P.S.: Dimentio's previous boss fights (as himself), however, are tricky and interesting, and he's still awesome as a character.

I cannot brohoof this enough. I was so excited to finally fight General Scales only for him to plop to the floor as soon as you take out the staff and then thrown into a shitty rehash of the Andross boss battle from SF64.

I usually defend the game and I still think that boss fight was bullshit.

Only boss I think was worse was NMH2's Jasper Batt Jr. One of the cheapest, broken and most unfun fights I've ever played in a game, the build up just went downhill after pure win that was the Alice boss fight(which many consider the true final boss). Apparently it was made to intentionally be shitty, in order to show that revenge is usually never worth it, which, while it fits with the game's themes, doesn't change the fact that a really lousy pay-off to an otherwise excellent game.

runners ups would be:

- X2's, X3's and X7's final Sigma forms, all of which are incredibly unfun(you know you screwed up when even X6's final boss was more fun)

- FFIX's Necron, who literally comes out of nowhere with zero build up

- FFX's Yu Yevon, a supernatural bug who turned out to be the reason there's so much destruction in the world

- MvC2's Abyss, a generic energy being as opposed to a traditional Marvel or Capcom villain like the other Vs Games

- Twilight Princess's Ganondorf fight, who was literally just a beefed up Darknut

- Tabuu from SSB Brawl, who suffer the same issues as Abyss

Radec from Killzone 2. This entire section is an absolute nightmare on the hardest difficulty and it many ways it is completely unfair. You have to survive through about 20 minutes worth of random soldiers and then finally Radec randomly comes down with a knife and he basically kills you instantly if he hits you, while he takes several bullets to take down. The whole fight is just terribly designed.

Also, the last fight on Destiny. Then again pretty much all of the boss fights in that game are absolutely awful.

Chairman Drek from Ratchet and Clank. His fight is a multi-stage fight with very little ammo refills in between, more than few tricky jumps, attacks that are a nuisance to dodge and several cutscenes between rounds. Although he might be easier if you have the optional item that allows you to buy ammo anywhere at a steeper cost, he frustrated me enough that I still hate him regardless.

Also, Saren from ME1. The dude will not sit still, taking a page from the single most annoying enemy in the game, the Geth Hopper, and jumping all over the place, made even worse by the game's less than ideal gun play.

My choice is Bowser from Yoshi's New Island. Even the story itself went cuckoo crazy when Bowser appeared. I thought it would be different but the battle's mostly the same as the Baby Bowser one, not to mention it was easy as well. Talk about disappointing.

Oh yeah, that was so disappointing. The true final boss wasn't built up at all, was totally tacked on and if that happened to be my first Starfox game I would have no idea what was going on.

I'd have to go with bowser from Super Mario Sunshine just because of how disappointing the fight was for me. I was expecting bowser to move around and be more of an active threat, kind of like how he was in super mario 64. But he just sat in his bathtub the whole time, the biggest threat being homing bullet bills.

For me, it'd have to be Shrowser from Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time... if that could even be considered a final boss. :huh:It was great to hear Bowser's battle theme again and all (still find myself revisiting it on YouTube now and again), but the 'battle' felt very out of place, and Shrowser was much less satisfying for me to defeat than the Elder Princess Shroob. I think it could have actually worked very well if the battle was moved back a little bit- even making it the second-to-last boss might have made it more understandable- but as it is, it was an anticlimatic finale, and pretty much the only thing in the game to really disappoint me. =/
