It's pretty obvious that the Electoral College doesn't represent the population's beliefs, not just because of the popular vote, but because Trump has the lowest approval rating of any president entering office, and shows no sign of improving any time soon

Because I definitely trust the proven-biased media to rate him properly.

Yup, the guy who lives in his own bubble, and constantly shouts "fake news" at anything he doesn't like while making up alternative facts fake news of his own is much more trustworthy

I'm not saying anyone's votes should be discarded (sans the illegal ones, of course); I'm just correcting you on that whole "most citizens = anti-Trump" thing (when it should really be "most mainstream-media people = anti-Trump").

Most citizens in the U.S. are anti trump, not just the mainstream media. The fact is that he lost the popular vote, and has the lowest approval rating ever seen before.

In fact, a Californian's vote actually has less power than a North Dakotan's vote, because N. Dakota gets two extra votes regardless of its population. So Californians individually have the least power in the election, whereas the smallest states have the most power.

For Tara Strong, I get it. It was the biggest moment for some, the first woman President. This was hyped for weeks with clear skies sailing into the White House. Then Trump snatched victory from the jaws of defeat at the last second.

That election reminded me so much like it was a wrestling match hyped so big with a twist ending.

Yeah, but thats a poor reason to want a specific candidate, candidates should be blindly chosen based on policy TBH. Bernie would've prolly gotten in if Hillary were a guy, for instance. Or if she weren't a Clinton.

Under-performing will only go so far but in the end loses out to someone over-performing.

Polls are extremely easily biased. Same thing actually happened with anti-brexit votes, which went up after it happened. And it happened just because of disbelief that it could happen, then shock and outrage, and everyone else shoved off because they got it their way. So the polls are reflective of that more than any new low he has, and for votes I didn't think he was the lowest proportionally that got in, I think similar happened before, but idr and am open to being corrected, I didn't see or hear it lately.

Everyone has political opinions and are free to express it. Though, to take a celebrity's political opinion seriously is kinda... meh.

About the election, yeah, it was pretty much the whole "first woman president" thing. Problem is, gender, complexion, ethnicity and religion don't really matter in politics, policies, image and campaigning do.

By the way, seriously disagree Bernie Sanders would beat Trump. He gets the millenial vote, no doubt about it, and would probably win the industrial worker vote, however, a candidate so far on the left would seriously alienate the moderate vote, which, despite how the current political field appears to be, is still by a wide margin the largest vote share.

There are reasons the Democratic estabishment chose Clinton, and it isn't just her connections.

The same guy who said Sweden has problems with immigrants and was accused of lying by the MSM, only to be spot on when riots took place. This is why trust in the MSM is at an all-time low.

Yes. Yes she does. Responded to one of her tweets about gun control one time, and she argued back. Wound up blocking me for some reason.

I wasn't even rude to her lol.

Dude, that sucks. Do you think about how she blocked you whenever you watch an episode? That's too bad she got into an argument with you.

First as far as John de Lancie go's, I got to talk to him face to face at ponyville ciderfest about 2 weeks before the election. It was kinda disappointing because all most of the guests of honor wanted to talk about was the election when I was at the cocktail hour. A part of why it was a big issue was because of Jenn Blake's brain cancer and how she was trying to figure out how to afford treatment when Americas health care system is not very good. John's biggest issues seemed to deal with our education system and the health care system both of which I agree need better support for. I don't think that John's money or "big mansions" has anything to do with what side he was on in the election. I strongly feel that John just wants what will help out people the most that are in need.

As far as Tara go's I was following her on twitter until all this drama picked up. I was pretty bummed out that a person who had suck a positive impact on my life acted the way that she did over the election and its conclusion. I understand her reasons for being frustrated and upset however I never would have thought that she would never let this go. The other big bummer was that Tara Strong to me seemed like the kind a person how could execpt anyone no matter the reason. It's what made her such a powerful and inspirational person in our fandom and to see take out her stress and frustration on so many people and even going as far as to judge ever Trump supporter as being a racist or sexist just made everything feel so much worse.

For anyone that cares to know I was on neither side over the election and did not vote.

I didn't even vote for Donald Trump (I went third party which still managed to destroy friendships :() and I still get annoyed by Tara's radical anti-Trump stuff. It's sad seeing someone who loves to talk about acceptance and who voices a character on a show centered around friendship throw acceptance right out the window in favor of nasty, prejudiced rants. I will still watch and enjoy her shows, but I wouldn't want kids to see her like this.

I have noticed that and sure I'm not a Trump supporter or not very involved with an interest in politics, but sometimes you have to know when to distance yourself from controversial topics.

Fortunately I steer well clear of twitter, and although I'm aware that she holds opinions that I don't agree with on a variety of subjects the fact is that she doesn't have the clout for her opinions to spread further than her twitter page so I have no problem in separating the person from the opinion.  Also, on all of the convention panel videos I've seen she stays on-topic and doesn't use it as a platform for her politics which is pretty decent of her, unlike those godawful champagne socialists that feel the need to vomit their own brand of sanctimonious morality all over every Hollywood award ceremony.

So yeah, one more reason to avoid twitter, I know that she has strong political views (no pun intended) which I don't necessarily agree with, but I don't hold it against her because she keeps it to the appropriate platforms.

This last year and election has been the most polarizing i've ever seen. So many internet celebrities, artists and actors alike have been VERY vocal about how they feel about the current state of the world. Even people who have said to purposely avoid drama and controversy has had something to weigh in recently. It really woke me up and showed me both countries and citizens how much we arn't as unified and working toward the same goals as I thought.

Tara from what I've seen since she first made a Twitter has been a very opinionated person. Maybe not political until recently but certainly wasnt anywhere near as quiet as most of the other actors and staff. So it doesnt sound surprising that when something grinds her gears she would make a point to let people know. :twi:

Do keep in mind that the only tipping-point against his popular vote was California -- i.e., the Liberal capital.

The majority of the Electoral map -- i.e., a reflection of the dominant mindsets -- was red.

Yep most of the country is red. Outside of liberal cities even so called blue states are red in terms of counties. Small blue pockets while states like NY and even Washington in terms of counties are majority red.

I don't see why its wrong for Hollywood actors to take parts in politics. They may be actors but they have opinions too. As for her, i like Twilight Sparkle and if she wants to say something then i don't see the problem. I don't really know about her views but i am very open to listening to what others have to say.

I am glad this thread was made. I wanted to say the same thing, but didn't feel comfortable making a thread about it. I don't mind her having strong views, but it feels like some of her tweets are childish, and she doesn't factcheck things, she just takes any anti Trump article and posts it on her Twitter. Like the video of Eric Trump talking about the DNC, someone tweeted it, and she somehow thought that Eric was talking about all Democrats in the US.

Don't get me wrong, I still very much love our Brony Queen, but some of her tweets are heartbreaking to read, and I almost get the feeling like she looks down on anyone who supports or supported Trump. I know WHY she hates Trump, and I can see good reasons why she does, but overall, it's the tone of her political tweets that I don't like.

Given that she's had such a strong following over the years, I'm not surprised that her fans are questioning her when it comes to her political views. I don't blame her for being passionate considering what happened last week, yet some things are best left unsaid especially in a public forum otherwise people will take it the wrong way. Tara Strong is allowed to speak her mind and I do agree with what she's saying, but maybe she should have been a bit more subdued with her approach.

Just because you are allowed to speak your mind and give a opinion, it doesn't mean people have to like your opinion and can't give their criticism to it. It always seems like whenever someone express their dislike for one of Tara Strong's or other celebrities' opinion, the fans of them always defend them and say that they are just expressing their opinion.

Newsflash! If you post your opinion on something and expect everyone to agree with it and love it, then you're extremely egotistic and arrogant. If you can't accept people not liking your opinion, then don't express it and keep it to your self.

I hate Donald Trump myself, but Tara Strong and other celebrities always seem to have to Tweet and talk about him all the time on Twitter, and most of the stuff they (including Tara Strong) say about him is very uninteresting and has been said about a million times. Also Tara Strong and other celebrities seem to instantly believe everything the media says about Donald Trump and they Tweet every news about him from the media on their Twitter account. And when some of these news about him turns out to be false, they look unintelligent as a result of it.

So I (and probably many other people too) don't follow Tara Strong and other celebrities on Twitter as a result of them always Tweeting and talking about Donald Trump.

Just to let everyone know; South Park creators (Matt Stone and Trey Parker) are going to avoid making fun of Donald Trump next season of South Park as a result of everyone always talking about him; in which I understand why they're doing it.

Celebrities are people like everyone else, and as such, I believe they should have the full right to voice their opinions. Sure, it might be disappointing for some fans to see their idol doesn't agree with them, possibly having completely different views. But that's bound to happen sometimes. I try to keep art separate from the people behind them. I have no problem listening to music by artists with different political views, for example. Although there are obviously limits (I wouldn't want to support someone extremely hateful).

I see fans disagreeing with their idols on some matters as a good thing. And that's not because of either side having better or worse views. Basing one's views on what someone else says without giving any thought to the actual issues at hand is not what should happen. Whether you agree or disagree with someone you respect, that shouldn't be just because of what the other person thinks.

Try coming out as a Republican and/or a Trump-supporter if you are a celeb/Hollywood star. See the shitty reactions from Democrats and Leftists all over.

As for Tara Strong: I disagree with her. She should do actual research on topics, however she is free to have an opinion, even if it's wrong.

I won't however treat ANYONE to a higher standard, regardless of who they are. We are ALL human, and as such, will be prone to everything from jealousy to falling in love to being wrong on a plethora of issues.

Cult of personality, anyone?

As a VA she is one of the best out there. And she is good at keeping her job seperate from her own personal views on shit. A true professional is capable of doing so, and sometimes with ease.

Personally, I think people like Elvis had it right. He was asked a few times about his political stance when he was alive, and he would say, "Look man, I just entertain people. I'm a musician, not a politician. That all soars way over my head."

One more reason why he was "The King."
