How Long Will You Be A Brony?

Recommended Posts

Everything has it's end at some point, no matter how meaningful it might be to a person. How much longer do you think you'll be a brony? and something further, why do you think your answer is a solid guess? I suspect I'll remain in this fandom for maybe a year or so more because I feel like I've already experienced most of what the fandom has to offer. However, another option is I finally begin making irl friends and they're bronies; from these friendships, I'd derive new pony-centric motivations and could possibly be here for several more years.

So what about you then? :P

Probably forever. Regardless of how future generations turn out, I'll always be a fan of G4. And I don't intend on leaving Lyra anytime soon.

Till I'm dead.    And if there's an afterlife I'll be one there too.

I am not planning to be a brony for life. While it has been a great ride the last 4 years, i can't see myself being here forever, since life has more to offer.

I will stay as long as the show exists and as long as it keeps my interest up.

I haven't really been a brony for probably over a year now, but I'll probably keep collecting the toys for years to come, since there's so much out there.

Depending how you define being a part of the fandom i'm not a brony any more, but simply being a man who watch's the show after fim ends.

Until people stop making fan content or the fandom because so tiny it's pretty much none existent... so not for a long time yet.

Can't really say a specific time, so I'll just say whenever I outgrow/get tired of the show.

Which could be never, right before I die, in a decade, next year, or maybe even tomorrow. Who knows?

I want to be a brony forever, haha. I know it sounds silly, but I just don't think nothing could ever get me to truly stop loving the show; I am aware there are people who like the show but don't call themselves bronies, I just think it is fun to be a part of a group of people under one cause to share opinions and theories about things. I would hate for that feeling to leave,it really has made me happier than I have ever been!

Well, I'm not planning on leaving anytime soon. With me, it's like this: I see something I like, it sticks with me, it becomes a part of me.  I don't want to lose the feeling of happiness that I get from a lot of things, especially MLP.  ;)

I don't know for how long I'm gonna be a Brony/MLP fan, but if there is anything that makes me turn the tables in terms of my opinions about the show or the fandom, then I will not be a brony anymore and I hope it does not happen anytime soon, 'cause I'm loving the fandom to a certain extent right now :)

I see myself being a pegasister for pretty much... ever.

Once I become a really really big fan of something, I rarely step down from it.

Generally, I only ditch something when one of two things happens:

1. I run out of episodes/fan animation to watch

2. It ceases to be fun

I also usually don't ditch a TV series until I've found another one I'm more enthusiastic about to replace it with. As far as MLP is concerned, it'll probably stop watching for the latter reason eventually, because I can't really see an end to the fan works. Honestly, I'll probably be a fan until the series ends, I'll probably disappear for the extra-long hiatus and dip back in when Hasbro attempts to reboot with a Gen. 5 show, and if that one isn't interesting, that's when I'll stop considering myself a brony. Don't think I'll ever be ashamed or embarassed to admit I was one during G4, though.

I'm a clopper so until the day I die.

I love fan fiction of it somewhat more than the show itself.

Honestly, I'm getting tired of people talking about being a brony as if it's a club with membership dues.  People seem to be "planning" their "departure", as if they literally plan to stop liking the show at some point.  If you like the show, then you're a brony, or whatever you want to call yourself.  There's no other requirement.  If we're just talking about community or forum participation, then that's two different things.  Community participation, or even forum membership, is obviously not a requirement for being a brony.  It just means you like the show.  That's it.  Some people do stop liking the show, or whatever else, for various reasons.  But this talk about it ending as if one plans to terminate their brony membership on a specific date makes no sense to me.  I'm a fan of many things, but I'm not active in those things all the time.  Doesn't mean I'm not still a fan.  And I'm not going to circle a date on the calendar that says "February 24th, 2018: Stop liking Lord of the Rings."  Posting on the forums is not a requirement for being a brony.  Community participation is not a requirement.  Interests fade and change, but if you still like it, then you can still call yourself a brony.  Your membership won't lapse due to inactivity.  Other bronies won't throw you out.  It's not a club with a governing body.  It's not a street gang.  It's not the Illuminati...

Or is it?

It's not.

Except when it is.

I have never been a brony, but if we are talking about like participation on forums and stuff... Then probably until the show completely stops being even the slightest bit amusing to me. I'm already fairly close to that point since I usually fall several episodes (even entire seasons) behind before I catch up. My participation has more or less boiled down to this single website as well, and was never really that large to begin with.

I'll always be one. Sure some other show fandom might wisk me away but I can't unsee all the characters, episodes, fanart and music the show has made. Its part of me now. It'll be a piece of me no matter where I go from here. :)

It's become a part of who I am!

Even when the show ends or it goes downhill IMO or I start to "move on" from it, I will always be a brony. Actually, I've moved on a bit in the last year or so. I don't get online often, and thus I am not a bigger participant in the forums anymore (although now that schools started, i'm on nearly everyday). The biggest reflection of me "moving on" is the fact that I don't demand to watch an episode the day it releases. Last Thursday, I watch the 2 rarity episodes and Rainbow Rocks with my husband....considering they have been on my USB stick for at least a week+.....

I am not as intense of a fan as I was this time last year, but I do see the last 4 years of my life and my relationship with the show as something that will never change.

In other words, FIM has been such an integral part of my life that I will always carry it with me. I realized this after seeing ep.100 at MLP-MSP this year. I then finalized my decision to get a FIM tattoo (an idea floating in my head for a very long time, but was against it because I thought being a fan was a "phase").

Honestly by this point it's the fandom itself keeping me here.

I've been watching the show ever since the Season 2 Premier was released, so I missed the first days of the fandom eplosion by just a few months, and now, if I'm being brutally honest, the show itself is losing its appeal for me. By no means am I trying to say the quality is declining, it's just lost a certain unknowable charm that dragged me into it in the first place.

So, I guess I'll be a part of this fandom for as long as it stays at this level of quality.

I was thinking about saying 'forever' but I would need to be realistic as that's the type of guy I am.

Pretty much everything about the show appeals to me, but the most important things are the plots and the animation style.

If they make the animation style look bad in the next generation then there's a chance that I may stick with the current generation (rewatching and listening to its content a few times), though the interest would eventually wear out (even though I can relate to certain situations).

If they make it remain the same or have better (which I would of course try out) then I'll remain on the train longer.

Judging from how long FiM has been running for and the fact that the show will continue as it's very successful, that's something that I won't need to worry about for quite a while.

I'm wanting to get more involved in the fandom in the future (a few years time) and so I'm hoping that things don't go horribly wrong before then.

I will always remember and admire it in some way, no doubt.
