web Twitter's new abusable reporting policy

Limeblossom

Recommended Posts

Since 2014 we witnessed a huge internetstorm around free speech and not agreeing with someone else. Now, Twitter has changed it's policy system for the worse.

Here's what I mean:

post-33978-0-78597400-1444377338_thumb.png

https://support.twitter.com/forms/abusiveuser

That means I can't disagree with another user and making a counter argument is more difficult.

And about offensive and disrespectful? Just realize that there's a group of brainwashed, Starlight Glimmerian moonbats who thinks that everything and everyone outside their hivemind is offensive and wrong. They're gonna abuse the system like Hell.

I'm just gonna stay in MLPforums. We can agree and disagree with each other freely here.

I highly doubt any Twitter employee is going to take the time to delete tweets that go against someone's opinion. It's possible they put that there simply in an attempt to appease certain people.

It would still be a bad excuse for Twitter to appease to a mob known for it's hatefest, bigotry, hypocrisy and destroying reputations of other individuals. Look at how they react when EqD admin Calpain-EqD was creating a fansite for Steven Universe fans. They attacked him with threats and false accusations.

Yes, they also hate Bronies to the core. And they'll hate you even more when you're also a gamer.

Guess I'm extremely hated then. Yeah, one of my pals mentioned this to me when I said that some article was bull. He joked with "YOU CANT DISAGREE ON TWITTER HAVENT YOU HEARD THATS HARRASSMENT NOW". but I thought that he was simply joking and mocking those nutters since at that time it was super early in the morning for me.

And that's why, i never will have an account on Twitter. :P

That's obviously not why. Twitter is a great site.

Anyway

OP, they are not going to remove tweets just because those are disagreeing with someone's opinion. That's stupid. That report option is just there to make it easier for twitter staff to find heated discussions. Or as others have said, to prevent dumb people from reporting disagreement as "harassment".

If you haven't read the help text about the option, I suggest you do so as it makes things more clear.

Otherwise there would've been a huge number of deleted posts about the blue and black dress.

Honestly are people still taking Twitter seriously? It's just a place where people like Anita Sarkeesian post blatantly stupid comments and then not respond to legitimate counter points but instead only aims to bait people into attacking her so she can fuel her victim complex. It amazes me that Twitter is still being taken seriously in 2015.

@jokuc: No, I don't think that would soften the situation and it doesn't help with finding heated discussions. The user targeted by the report is still getting labeled as "harasser".

Her actions caused harm to many subcultures and individuals (especially gamers) and inspired NBC to make the notorious Law and Order: SVU episode, bringing us back to a new moral panic about gamers. If she finds out that we exist she'll call us muh-soggy-knee, and Bronies who're also gamers probably get a special (and more horrible) slander treatment from her.

There are still many people who use Twitter, until there's an alternative for it and when the old Twitter has been completely overridden by SJW's and a chance that it ends up in the forgotten zone.

One thing that's inevitable is that history is gonna be relentless to Sarkeesian, the SJW's and other crazies.

There is no point in attacking her, she is invincible now. Attacking her helps her, because she will respond only the attacks that are baseless and never to ones that are legitimate criticisms and this helps her agenda. Just like all of Twitter, attacking ANYONE just helps their victim complex. That's why I am not surprised that Twitter is adding such a report option as they have just accepted that their target audience is social justice warriors with a victim complex. Make the money where it can be made.

Then Twitter will soon be known as a breeding-hole for SJW's. Basically a site without a future.

You seem to believe that SJWs care about actually changing things. If the site was only inhabited by SJWs they will stay forever and be happy because they now have no one to disagree with them. It will become their virtual hug box.

I'm not sympathizing with them, nor believing they change things. They make things only worser.

It will become their virtual hug box.

The only real hug box they would ever use as a home is the loony bin.

That's my point. They are invincible in that they have decided they will be content if no one is criticizing them and thus rally more and they will be content if they are getting attacked because it allows them to play the victim. In other words, they have a strategy where they wish to acquire either of the two possible outcomes so they can't be beat.

You know, it only shows that they can't take defeat. Even when they obviously lost the battle.

And I still think we should renovate Alcatraz into an asylum and put them in. The more I see how far they go the more I think they're actually nothing but walking explosive psychos. One day it will end up with horrible results.

If you want to mention my name, use the mention feature so I will get a notification.

Anyway, that's just like.. your opinion. Twitter has done this for a reason and it is certainly not because posting opposing opinions are against the rules.

I call bs. Twitter's target audience is not sjws, that's just a tiny fragment of the community.

Twitter is slowly but surely failing its users' plead for help. Often times, those reports filed by users being harassed, insulted and such have fallen to deaf ears, which is clear that Twitter either needs to shape up or end up digging themselves into their graves joining MySpace.

I was speaking in hyperbole. My apologies for not making that clear.

I almost wonder how tongue-in-cheek or serious this is. It's possible they're just taking the piss to people who abuse the Offensive report for people who disagree with them. It's also possible they're just corralling it all on the same spot then ignoring it.
