Is the show going to wrap itself up now?

With todays episode pretty much wrapping up the CMCs story arc, having a destiny of helping others to achieve their Cutie Marks, it brought me back to one of my favorite subjects. The end of the series.

With this season seeing Rarity getting her own botique and Rainbow Dash only just a few episodes away from becoming a full time wonderbolt and with Twilight probably soon becoming a full fledged ruler of Equestria, the series seems to draw itself to an end, with all of the main characters fulfilling their destinies.

Season 6 was announced and with the movie following after it, i think it's safe to say that the writers might think that this is the perfect opportunity to end it. Amy Keating Rogers is soon at Disney, M. A. Larson is also looking at other Projects for the future and Megan Mccarthy is getting into a higher position at Hasbro soon. It all looks very suspicious.

What do you guys think?

I do think it's going to wrap itself up. It seems to be headed in that direction. However, we still have 8 more episodes of S5 and 26 episodes of S6 to go through before we know more, and a lot can happen in each of them that might open up new stories such as the CMC one which appears to have finally been resolved. I think today's episode is a good indicator that the show may be headed on its way out, but who knows. A lot could *still* happen.

I think you're right.  Season 6 of MLP:FIM and movie #4 of EQG will likely be the end of the fourth generation.  The 2017 movie seems like it's being timed out to be the big send-off, at least until Hasbro decides to start work on gen 5.

That makes a lot of sense.

With the CMC finally getting their cutie marks, Rarity getting her shop in Canterlot, and how Rainbow Dash is really close to being a full wonderbolt I can see that happening.

With the movie in 2017 which is something that usually marks the end for shows, and some of the characters already achieved their dreams, season 6 and the movie are probably going to be used to wrap up the show.

I really don't get this need to end the show that some people have. I'll ride this ride as long as it goes and as long as I enjoy it. If they say its the end so be it, but I really don't get wishing for it to end.

Ya know, before this epsiode, I never really agreed with the idea that season 6 would be the last season, and that the movie would be what wraps it all up, but now that this episode happened, and baed on everything else you pointed out, it's staring to seem like a real possibility to me. I'm not saying I want it to happen, I'm saying it might. Personally, I'd love to see the show reach 200 episodes, so long as it maintains its quality.

I think there is a difference between wishing and being realistic. i must say, that i don't see any need for the show to go on past Season 6/the movie. Every arc will probably be closed by that point.

I just hope they will put CMC episodes to a rest because I don't like them though I'm sure they will still make more episodes of them to my disappointment involving them finding the talent for other ponies with cutie marks.

No---the show was recently greenlit for at least another 5 years.

we speak about the merchandise and not the show. And that was said almost 2 years ago. If the show is ending with the movie in 2017, there would be one more year and Hasbro uses that year to sell the merchandise that comes with the movie.

Or they will just go on hiatus for a whole year and say that was still part of Gen 4's milestone.

But for every arc that has been closed there has been another one that's been opened, and there is still plenty more for them to work with, even with the Cmc. With all the stuff they've opened up I think its really premature to keep predicting the end like this forum seems to love to do on a weekly basis.

I don't think so. Why would they give the CMC their cutie marks and (if we're right) give Shining Armor and Cadance a child if they're just gonna end it?

With the baby, it's just for the merchandise. I sadly believe they have no actual plans with Shining, Cadence and the baby, other then to sell the product.

I guess it's just a game when there are people saying it's going to end soon and those saying it's not and then we throw money on it and wait for who's right. This is part of our forum's culture anyway.

Well if season six is the end I know a great way to end it with one of their hardest tests of friendship yet. With each pony going on to fulfil their dreams pinkie tries to keep their friendship from drifting apart.

Sweet.

Well, something to keep in mind is that Hasbro is a toy company, and if the toys aren't selling, the show will most likely end, and if they are selling, then they'll probably keep the show going. Personally, I severely doubt MLP toysales will go down by that much by 2017. So, from a buisness standpoint, why would they end the show?

Maybe they will show reruns till 2019? Think about it. They wouldn't need to pay the writers anything and they can still sell their stuff through the show, without investing a single cent into the show. It would actually be more cheap then what they have now.

The team is actually writing a new story bible. This implies that the show will be over within two seasons (and a new show will follow.)

Chances are good that it will last 6 seasons and 1 wrap-up movie, possibly 7.

Keep in mind most "toy" shows, even very good shows like Transformers: Prime, only last 3 seasons. This is because a new toy line warrants a new art style warrants a new show.

Plus it's not like Hasbro is entirely dependent on MLP to generate their revenue.  They own a lot of IP from the past that could also be updated and marketed to a fresh generation of consumers.

EDIT: And there's always the aforementioned 5th generation of MLP that they could roll out as well.

I WILL BUY EVERYTHING!!!!!!! Muahaha!!!

I honestly feel that the merch has been selling better as of late. It is starting to be majorly accepted outside of the fandom. My two little girls love the show and when I have a little extra money to spend, the three of us go buy a fun MLP toy. :)
